The revival of Indo-Pakistan cricket has become a diplomatic and political matter, according to former captain of Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

While speaking on the occasion of a local-level cricket match, Dhoni said the game between arch rivals India and Pakistan is more than a cricket match. Therefore, he added, the decision of its revival should be left on the government.

He added the series between India and Pakistan should resume when the government allows. However, Dhoni said, the matter has become more of a political and diplomatic one.

The Indian cricketing legend was the chief guest at the cricket match where he spoke to the media.

Dhoni believes politics should not affect sports, but the issue of Indian team was a separate matter.

In October, a talk was organised by South Asia Centre in London, where former spy chiefs of India and Pakistan said both the countries should resume cricket matches between them.
