LAHORE: The Punjab government has said it would appeal in the Supreme Court the Lahore High Court?s (LHC) order to make public the inquiry report of the Model Town incident.

The LHC ordered on Tuesday the Punjab government to release in 30 days the inquiry report and also conduct a transparent and impartial trial.

Talking to Geo News, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Zaeem Qadri said the inquiry report is not final, adding that that is the reason it is not being released to the public.

Qadri claimed further that the case is in its last stages, and that the arrested suspects are out on bail.

He said that ousting Nawaz Sharif is not possible through [court] decisions.

The answer to problems is not through courts but people?s verdict (elections), he stated further.

The people?s decision should be respected, he said, adding that democracy and elections are the spirit of politics.

Earlier, the provincial government had challenged Justice Mazahar Ali Naqvi'sΒ September 21 order directing the Punjab home secretary to make public the report and provide a copy to the families of those killed and injured in the 2014 incident.Β

At least 14 people were killed and 100 others injured in police action against PAT workers during an 'anti-encroachment operation' on June 17, 2014.
