We all remember good ol’ Garrick Ollivander the wandmaker who sold an 11-year-old Harry Potter his first wand, ever. The character was played by veteran actor, John Hurt, who just passed away, owing to his battle with Cancer, as well as an intestinal problem.

Known popularly for his role in ‘The Elephant Man’, Hurt had a flourishing career in Hollywood spanning over six decades. His last work was that of a priest in the Oscar nominated biopic of President John F. Kennedy’s widow, Jackie. 

He first rose to fame in 1966 for his role in A Man For All Seasons. Avid movie watchers would also remember him in films like Alien and as Winston Smith in the adaptation of George Orwell’s 1984. 

A moment of silence for the legendary actor. He will be missed.
