Get Ready For Cheaper iPhones As Apple Is All Set To Start Manufacturing in India This April

The IT minister of Karnataka declared that Apple would start manufacturing iPhones in the country by April this year. IT minister Kharge told Bloomberg that the manufacturing will commence in Bengaluru by the end of April and Apple will be partnering with Taiwanese manufacturer Wistron for its Indian operations.

Kharge stated in a Tweet β€œApple's intentions to make iPhones in Bengaluru will foster cutting-edge technology ecosystem and supply chain development in the state,”. He also added that all Indian-produced iPhones will be sold in the domestic market as they have negotiated with the Indian government for tax exemptions and incentives.Β

Earlier this week, Apple CEO Tim Cook said in an earnings call that he felt β€˜really good’ how Apple was doing in India. He further stated. β€œWe are in discussions with a number of things, including retail stores, and fully intend to invest significantly in the country and believe it's a great place to be.”

A recent report claimed that Apple is the leader in India for premium smartphones even though it has a small share of the market as compared to other smartphone manufacturers. With India being the second fastest economy for smartphones, Apple has key interests in India for even higher profits by offering cheaper iPhones manufactured here.
