NASA Is Hosting A News Conference On A Discovery Beyond Our Solar System Tonight andamp Were Super Excited

NASA has planned a news conference for today and as much as we want the announcement to be about aliens, letโ€™s get real, it wonโ€™t be. The event is mainly about new findings on exoplanets, which are the planets that orbit stars other than our sun. The conference will begin at 11:30pm IST tonight and the event will air live on NASA Television and the agencyโ€™s website.

You can watch the live feed here when it begins.

Exoplanets are discovered all the time, but since NASA is making such a big deal about it, it can be assumed that what NASA found outside of the solar system could potentially support life.ย

The public can also take part in this briefing and ask questions through Twitter using the #askNASA hashtag.

The briefing participants are:

1. Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington

2. Michael Gillon, astronomer at the University of Liege in Belgium

3. Sean Carey, manager of NASA's Spitzer Science Centre at Caltech/IPAC, Pasadena, California

4. Nikole Lewis, astronomer at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore

5. Sara Seager, professor of planetary science and physics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge.

Moreover, about two hours after the event begins, the participants will be hosting a Reddit Ask Me Anything in English and Spanish so be prepared with your questions!
