Pop star Daler Mehndi, who was slapped with charges of human trafficking in 2003, was convicted today. He and his brother Shamsher Singh were sentenced to jail for 2 years after the verdict was announced. However, that is not the highlight of this whole situation. Daler got a jail term but was also bailed out, in under 2 minutes. So basically, he got the bail faster than I can cook Maggi. I tried finding solace on Twitter, wondering if anyone was echoing my thoughts. Turns out, people had some hilarious things to say.
#DalerMehndi bailed by patiala court is faster than dominos deliver pizza

โ IMRAN KHAN (@imranmkkhan) March 16, 2018Talking about the judiciary in this beautiful country, what do I say? Bolo Ta ra ra ra?
I was in school when this case started.
It took 15 years to get him convicted.
He gets bail minutes after being sentenced to 2 years.
This is how legal system works in India.
Bolo ta Ra Ra Ra Ra#DalerMehndi
#DalerMehndi got bail in 15 minutes after conviction.
Yahi toh hai acche din.
SAME!
Am reading about #DalerMehndi and my brain in auto mode is going Tunak Tunak Tanana. Won't stop.
โ Naomi Datta (@nowme_datta) March 16, 2018I have no clue if the 'acche din' for this country are ever going to begin. However, one thing is clear from this incident. The judicial system here is like a piece of clay which can be moulded by people with power and money.
