The power outage, first reported by users around 7.30pm, affected areas including Saddar, Kharadar, Lyari, Defence, Clifton, Pakistan Chowk, II Chundrigar Road, and different blocks of PECHS.
According to sources, a functional fault in a high-tension wire had resulted in the suspension of electricity to different parts of the city.
K-Electic, the sole electricity supply company in the city, responded to users with a standard message on Twitter: "We regret the inconvenience caused, all efforts are being made for quick normalization."
The power breakdown comes at a time when the city is hosting guests for cricket?s homecoming on March 25, Sunday, when the final of the third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) will take place.
