Twitter Roasts Modi For Claiming That No Congress Leader Went To Visit Bhagat Singh In Jail

Modi loves to target the Nehru-Gandhi family and his jibes on the congress dynasty are a crowd-pleaser in his rallies all across the country. It is, then, no big deal for Modi to come out all guns blazing especially in an election where he too knows that the BJP is trailing by some margin.

Following the script, Modi went on a rant attacking the Congress party while speaking in Bidar for not respecting freedom fighters, especially Bhagat Singh. This is what the Prime Minister said during the rally.

When freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Batukeshwar Dutt etc were jailed while fighting for our independence, did any Congress leader go to meet them? But the Congress leaders have the time to meet people who're corrupt & have been jailed, Modi roared.

While he did get a massive response from the crowd for his observation, twitter was quick to hand over a history lesson to the PM. Turns out, Nehru did visit Bhagat Singh in jail and twitter showed no mercy in reminding the PM of the fact.

There is no failure and there is no research team. These lies, half-lies and falsehoods are willed and deliberate. Unlike that other Gujarati and Indian politician, Gandhi, this one will do anything at all to win an election. https://t.co/bhKep5G0aQ

Dear Prime Minister,
Please do not embarrass us anymore. I know, it's not your fault. Your research team is failing you.#Nehru did visit #BhagatSingh after he went on hunger strike at Mianwali jail in June, 1929. This is well documented.
And this is what he had to say: https://t.co/tWl1krZ0KE

A twitter page by the name of indianhistorypics even went on to share an extract from a book to show that Modi was indeed distorting facts for political gains.

And the blows just kept on coming -

1.Nehru visited them in Lahore jail on Aug 8,1929.
2.And published their defence statement in Congress bulletin
3.Asaf Ali was their lawyer and defended them in court.

Also, Dear Sanghis-
Jinnah defended Bhagat Singh in the Central assembly. #KarnatakaElections2018 https://t.co/R5stfAF5oc

And some even pointed out the exact relevance of the entire issue, that too in Karnataka elections in 2018.

I was very much pained to see the distress of the heroes. They've staked their lives in this struggle.
They want political prisoners should be treated as political prisoners. I'm quite hopeful that their sacrifice wud be crowned with success.

Country's PM or that whining neighbourhood auntie? Never before politics has been reduced to such petty personal level.

âªï¸Nobody replies to my good mornings on Whatsapp
âªï¸Sonia didn't meet President
âªï¸Now Nehru didn't meet Bhagat Singh (False. He did.) https://t.co/SVgUTHV0tG

While this is not the first time that Modi has been called out for inaccurate history references, going by how passionate he is to win elections for the BJP, we can assure you that this won't be his last time too.
