While Abhay Deol has always had the reputation of being a thinking actor, this kind of lashing out is new even to the actor. Let’s face it, most Indians are obsessed with fairness and discrimination on the basis of colour is not something that happens only in the West. BJPO leader Tarun Vijay’s recent statements regarding the attack on African students in India reeked of a deep-seated racism and had the internet facepalming itself in despair.

A man’s colour does not define his personality and nor does a woman. It’s high time we stopped trying to lighten our faces and work on the darkness of our hearts instead. Kudos to Abhay for standing up against this trend and calling out almost the whole industry. A yamla jatt knows his worth does not depend on his colour.
