Brazil's Gabriel Jesus Was Painting Streets In 2014 & Now He's Playing In The FIFA World Cup

Gabriel Jesus is the living example of the phrase 'miracles do happen'. Back in 2014, when Brazil hosted the FIFA World Cup, the then 17-year-old was captured painting the streets of Jardim Peri in Sao Paulo. Cut to 2018 and the 21-year-old spearheaded Brazil's attack in Rostov against Switzerland.

Gabriel's fortunes changed when he moved from Palmeiras to Manchester City in January last year and dominated the European circuit.

Man City brought the striker at a good sum of 27 million euros and Jesus paid back Pep Guardiola with 24 goals in 53 games across various competitions. It was because of these performances that he was fast-tracked into the World Cup squad at just the age of 21.

Manchester City even did a whole video titled, 'A lot can change in four years' featuring Jesus' hometown and coaches.

In just four years, the very streets which Gabriel painted have been painted again with a mural of the young Brazilian striker.  A cluster of houses in his neighborhood have been painted in yellow, green and turquoise iterating his famous 'phone call' celebrations.

Jesus' story serves as a reminder to all those youngsters working hard to achieve their dreams that miracles do happen.

Even though he has a lot to prove, especially after an underwhelming World Cup debut against Switzerland, Jesus will hope that he can make things turn around and help Brazil lift a sixth World Cup title.
