In an very interesting turn of events, a journalist, who was covering a beauty pageant, ended up winning it instead.
Laura Gooderham, 24, is a reporter for the Grimsby Telegraph and originally went to cover the 2017 Miss Grimsby pageant. While there, as she was taking notes and clicking pictures, she was asked why she wasn't entering by one of the judges and three-time Miss Great Grimsby & District 2017 winner, Millie Margetts.

Sceptical at first, Laura soon started warming up to the idea of participating after learning that the contest raised money for charities Beauty With A Purpose and Andyβs at St Andrewβs Hospice. She was on the fence for a couple of weeks but made up her mind after talking to the organizers.

While talking to Unilad, she said, βI thought that beauty contests were all about pitting women against each other, but after speaking to the organisers and interviewing a lot of the contestants for Grimsby Telegraph I realised it is about raising money for charity and having fun.β
