Imtiaz Ali's 'Laila Majnu' Trailer Is Here & Get Ready To Feel The Mad Sting Of Tragic Love

Let's just admit it right here, most of us are huge fans of Imtiaz Ali. If there is one filmmaker in the industry who captures and displays human relationships, emotions and its complexities with utmost honesty, it is this man. And this time, he is back giving a new twist to a classic, tragic love story.

Who doesn't love a crazy, wild, passionate, tragic love saga? The more difficulties you face to achieve your one true love, the more intense and spellbinding the feeling is in the end.

Directed by Sajid Ali, 'Laila Majnu' is yet another tragic saga with a new spin on the original classic story. But when something tried and tested is shown on the silver screen, again and again, the audience tends to lose its interest.

Taking the lead are debutants Avinash Tiwary and Tripti Dimri. We see a blooming love story between the feisty Laila (Tripti ) and the equally feisty Kais (Avinash).

They meet. They click. A little bit of 'acceptable' stalking and voila! Love is in the air.

They dance around the 'haseen vaadiyaan' until their fathers decide to stop their gushy-mushy act! Because 'meri daddy nu pasand nahiyo tu. Ve tera gora mooh main dassan tainu' (pun intended)!

While the cinematography is the highlight and we love the picturesque location, the plot seems bland with unnecessary shrillness, and seems way more dramatic than necessary.

We see Kais' world crashing around him after the love of his life is separated from him, and being alone and wandering in the hills like a madman seems to be the only way for him to cope with his heartbreak.

Honestly, aren't we tired of this? The lover loses his mind and can only think of his angel, and she begins to appear to him as hallucinations….all glowing and dressed in white, obviously!

It looks like a typical Bollywood sequence….or our main man here is indeed smoking something that we need urgently.

The narrator in the trailer says wisely, "pyaar ka problem kya hai na, jab tak usme pagalpan na ho, woh pyaar hi nahi." (love is not love until it has madness in it.) Sure. That seems about right.

Check out the trailer for the story that needed no re-telling but is still being re-told regardless!

TBH, love is supposed to be a feeling unique to each person, with its own ups and downs, where two people discover themselves and find their own paths. But Bollywood seems to be trying to convince us that to be in love, one also needs to go batshit crazy.

I can understand trying to sell tragedy as a plotline, but for how long?
