Soldier Martyred While Serving In Kashmir, His Wife Now Joins The Army As A Lieutenant

Not all heroes wear capes, some wear the Indian Army uniform and protect us with all their might and courage on the front-lines.

Just like no amount of words will ever be enough to express our gratitude towards our defence personnel, similarly, none of us can ever imagine the pain the family members go through, when a soldier dies while protecting us from external dangers.

However, when one loses someone who was dear to them, they gain immense strength which is beyond our imagination. Today we'll talk about one such woman, whose courage and strength commands our respect.

Neeru Sambyal lost her husband three years ago, when he was killed while on duty in Jammu and Kashmir. Neeru got married to the late rifleman Ravinder in 2013 and in 2015, he died while serving his regiment. Not one to break down in such difficult circumstances, Neeru not only took care of her two-year-old daughter but also decided to join the Indian Army.

After successfully completing her 49 weeks of training, Neeru Sambyal has now joined the Indian Army as a Lieutenant. Talking about her struggles, Lt. Neeru said, "My husband was in the infantry. It was really difficult to accept the reality after he got martyred. But for me, my daughter is my inspiration. I never wanted her to feel the absence of her father and wished to fill both roles, of a father and mother."

She further said, "Being in the Army, one has to be mentally strong as there are times when one has to face situations where physical strength won't matter much." According to Neeru's father, she competed with 26 other women during her Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) selection exam.

Stories like these and people like Neeru deserve all the love and respect for their unparalleled courage and strong will.
