First Allahabad and now Faizabad, looks like there's a wave of 'renaming' going on in Uttar Pradesh right now. Faizabad will officially be known as Sri Ayodhya from today onwards.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made the important announcement just a few minutes ago during the grand Diwali celebrations being held in Ayodhya. 

While his announcement was met with thunderous applause, people on Twitter seemed to be divided about the second renaming in the state. 

While a lot of them are applauding the CM for this change, others are questioning whether renaming places is the only thing he does!

Faizabad was a separate city. It had its own distinct identity and boundary from Ayodhya so renaming it is an attempt to erase the Nawabi history.
