Xiaomi has been proactively launching new phones in India and trying to cover up a maximum number of price brackets. The company already has the Redmi Y2, Mi A2, Redmi 6, and Redmi 6 Pro in the midrange segment. Taking another step ahead, the company has launched the Redmi Note 6 Pro today and here's everything you need to know about it. 

The Redmi Note 4 Pro and 5 Pro have been best-sellers in the country, thanks to their near-perfect balance of specifications. Every type of user is satisfied with the offering, and undoubtedly the line-up has helped Xiaomi gain enormous traction in the market.

The most significant difference in the new phone is visible upfront -- the display now has a notch on the top. It also has a slightly bigger display and runs on MIUI 10 out of the box. 

On the front, it has a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. Unfortunately, there has been no improvement as far as the processor is concerned and the phone is powered by the same Snapdragon 636 chipset that powers the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

The phone comes in two variants: 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage. The memory can be expanded via a microSD card. It has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and also supports Face Unlock authentication via an infrared sensor. 

Coming to the camera, the rear has a 12 + 5-megapixel dual camera setup while the front has a 20 + 2-megapixel dual camera setup. The sensors are assisted by a dual-LED flash and are capable of shooting pictures with a bokeh effect. The portrait mode is AI-assisted and the software includes HDR support, automatic scene recognition, and a pro mode.

The phone is backed by a 4000mAh battery and comes with dual-SIM VoLTE support. It will be competing against the Honor 8X, Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, Realme 2 Pro, and Nokia 6.1 Plus. 

Just like previous launches, it will be exclusively available online via Flipkart and Mi.com along with offline Mi Stores from tomorrow onwards. The 4GB+64GB variant costs Rs 13,999 and the 6GB+64GB variant costs Rs 15,999.
