Is Xiaomi Launching Yet Another Phone in India? Could It Be The Redmi 4?

Xiaomi has been belting out phones every two months for the last quarter and has become the second highest selling smartphone brand in India. In fact, Xiaomi India VO Manu Kumar Jain tweeted “ Announcing the launch of a new Redmi phone! This will be the 2nd BIG announcement of the month. Coming soon. Stay tuned #PowerInYourHand”

Xiaomi has got their lips sealed as to which phone will launch in India next, but speculations are that it could be the Redmi 4. It wouldn’t be that far-fetched that a Redmi phone is scheduled to launch in India soon. There have been speculations whether the Mi 6 would be the next phone to launch, however, Jain’s tweet suggests that the Redmi 4 might be slated to launch even sooner

Xiaomi announced Redmi 4 last year in China and it seems very like that the budget friendly phone might make an appearance in India too. The Redmi 4 has a 5-inch HD display and is powered by 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor. We are not sure if the Indian variant would have the same specs, but it seems like the formula has worked for the Chinese company in the past. Xiaomi Redmi 4 also has 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM.

The Redmi 4 also has a metal unibody, unlike the Redmi 4a, which had a polycarbonate plastic finish. The Chinese version has a 13-MP primary camera with Phase Detection Auto Focus and a 5-MP front facing camera. Xiaomi has always launched smartphones with high battery capacity and the Redmi 4 continues the tradition by offering a 4,100 mAH capacity.

Keep in mind that these specifications are for the Chinese variant, which might not be the same, if the phone launches in India. There is no confirmation from Xiaomi whether the Redmi 4 or a brand new Redmi phone is slated to launch anytime soon. Rest assured, we will keep you updated on any new information we might come across regarding Xiaomi and this new “Redmi” smartphone.
