5 Ways To Make Mothers Day Special And Cheer Up Your Mom Even During Lockdown

Trust me - if youâve lived away from family during this lockdown, chances are that youâve become incredibly homesick over the last couple of months, and for many of us, having a quick word with our loved ones and particularly our mothers, has been helping us get by during these trying times.

With Motherâs Day just around the corner on this Sunday (May 10th), itâs important to remember that many of our moms have had a rough time as well.

Setting aside their worries should be a top priority on their special day, and while the pandemic might get in the way of grand gestures, sometimes, itâs the little things that make the biggest difference.

Weâve got suggestions here that can give you some ideas whether youâre holed up with family or riding solo through the quarantine - so get that notepad out, itâs time to make some Motherâs Day plans:

1.  A Quick Home Salon

Much of the frustration from being stuck under a lockdown can get pent up with hardly any place to go.

Fortunately, if youâre living with your mother, all it takes is a little YouTube gyaan and a few salon tools - weâre talking clippers, scrubs, lotion and nail files - and around an hour to spend giving your mom the spa treatment, and hopefully some fun conversation while youâre at it.

2. Tidy Yourself Up First

If youâre looking to go the extra mile, or simply are socially distanced from your mother, thereâs one grand gesture you can do that ought to put a smile on her face.

Grab that razor, ditch the scruffy quarantine beard and if youâre really looking to surprise her, maybe itâs time for a haircut - which, as it seems, is surprisingly simple to get done at home with the right pair of scissors, a comb and a trimmer/clipper.

Bonus points if sheâs a Main Hoon Na fan, which brings us to...

3. Watch Her Favourite Movies With Her

This one is super simple, fun, and easy to do whether youâre living together or apart - just remember to get the popcorn if youâre lucky enough to be around her.

Childhood favourites with your mom are the best bet here - or even some yesteryear classics that might be a first-time watch for you.

If youâre socially distanced, a good idea would be to set up a co-streaming services such as Metastream or Netflix Party, both of which are easy to install and completely free.

4. Whip Out A Handwritten Note

Yet another option that you can pull off near or far, thereâs nothing that quite says âI love youâ the way a handwritten note does.

Slip this in with her favourite breakfast if youâre around, and if not, you can always rely on instant courier services such as Dunzo or Swiggy Genie to deliver them - or simply send in the sweetest good morning letter possible through an uploaded image.

5.  Video Collages

Another good option while away is to remind your mom of all the good times youâve had pre-lockdown, and all it takes is a bit of time to find the right memories and use Googleâs photo collage option, highlighted above.

Take a bit of help from other family members too if the photos arenât on hand - taking your mother down memory lane is sure to bring back some much-needed nostalgia.

If all goes well, youâre definitely in for a super-happy Motherâs day, come tomorrow.
