ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will leave for Saudi Arabia on Sunday to attend an international Islamic conference, where he may also meet US President Donald Trump.Β 

PM Nawaz was invited by Saudi Arabia?s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to attend the Arab Islamic American Summit, where he is likely to meet other important leaders who will be attending the conference, including President Trump.

The leaders of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are also expected to discuss several economic and security agreements. PM Sharif will also visit Masjid-e-Nabawi.

During the visit, the PM is also likely to meet US President, who will also be reaching Riyadh for the conference. Trump is accompanied by wife Melania, daughter Ivanka, and son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner.

President Trump will also visit Israel, Palestine, Brussels, the Vatican and Sicily during his eight-day-long first foreign trip since becoming president.

He also tweeted about his trip and wrote, ?Getting ready for my big foreign trip. Will be strongly protecting American interests - that's what I like to do!"

Missile shot down near Saudi Arabia capital

Saudi Arabia said it shot down a ballistic missile, fired by Yemeni rebels, southwest of the capital Riyadh, ahead of the US president's arrival.

Air defence units ?intercepted a ballistic missile? yesterday, and it fell over an unpopulated area 180 kilometres from Riyadh, the Saudi-led coalition said in a statement.Β
