ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) adjourned the the hearing of pleas seeking disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Secretary General Jehangir Tareen for an indefinite period on Monday.

The five-member bench, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan, ordered that the case will be heard after the Supreme Court gives its verdict in a similar case.

During the hearing, PTI?s legal counsel Naeem Bukhari had argued that a similar case is being heard by the Supreme Court, saying the ECP should take its decision once the SC verdict is out.

On May 9, the ECP had restored the petition of Hashim Ali Bhutta seeking the disqualification of Imran Khan.

The petitioner, Bhutta, had said in his plea that Imran Khan did not mention his Bani Gala residence and London flats in his assets declaration before the ECP. The petition had also stated that the PTI chief failed to abide by articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.

The ECP had earlier dismissed the petition because the petitioner had failed to appear at the hearing.
