This Man Conquered Mt. Everest While Battling Cancer And Deserves All Our Respect

Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Strength does not come from physical capacity, it comes from indomitable will” and we couldn’t agree more after we heard about Ian Toothill’s incredible achievement. Toothill, a 47-year-old British man, was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2015 and was told that he just has several months to live.

After hearing this, anyone can feel their life crumbling but Toothill did not lose hope. In fact, he went a step ahead, won our hearts and created an example in front of the world by conquering the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest. Furthermore, Toothill is believed to have become the first cancer patient to climb it. He even posted on Facebook and Twitter about his feat saying, “Nothing to see here…Just some cancer dude on top of Mount Everest, and for a few minutes the highest person in the world!”

Reportedly, Toothill who is a fan of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, planted a flag of rivals Sheffield United at the summit for charity. He finished the summit on Monday and has raised nearly 31,500 pounds for the cancer charity Macmillan (he has beaten the target of 29,100 pounds). Earlier, he had reached the top of the North Col route on May 16.
