"Stick To Facts": Kejriwal Slammed By Singapore; MEA Said "Delhi CM Doesn't Speak For India"

While Twitter continues to be a battleground over COVID, a new diplomatic row broke out after Arvind Kejriwal posted a cautionary tweet about a new variant that has taken over Singapore, asking the center to cancel air services.

— Arvind Kejriwal (@ArvindKejriwal) May 18, 2021

Following this, there was a strong response by Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, where he asked Kejriwal to 'stick to facts'.

Politicians should stick to facts!
There is no “Singapore variant”. https://t.co/SNJaF7wkwC https://t.co/pNgw4bkV4H

Singapore also summoned the Indian envoy and expressed its strong objection on the same.

Singapore Government called in our High Commissioner today to convey strong objection to Delhi CM's tweet on "Singapore variant". High Commissioner clarified that Delhi CM had no competence to pronounce on Covid variants or civil aviation policy.

However, the drama did not end there. Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar, reacted to the same in a strongly worded tweet, where he appreciated Singapore's role as a logistics hub and oxygen supplier in the battle against COVID.

Singapore and India have been solid partners in the fight against Covid-19.

Appreciate Singapore's role as a logistics hub and oxygen supplier. Their gesture of deploying military aircraft to help us speaks of our exceptional relationship. @VivianBala https://t.co/x7jcmoyQ5a

Following that, he also added a scathing sidenote, where he directly called out Kejriwal for his remarks and said: "Delhi CM does not speak for India."

However, irresponsible comments from those who should know better can damage long-standing partnerships.

So, let me clarify- Delhi CM does not speak for India.

Twitter obviously was on flames, and people were quick with their opinions. While some attacked Kejriwal for the alleged 'speading of fake news', others decided to throw MEA under the bus.

Is there any law for such fake news? Or it is not applicable for politicians?

Thank you Sir, quick response. Some people want to damage India image deliberately...

Big fan Jaishankar ji.
Forget India, haraami Kejri should not even speak for Delhi!
May be should not speak at all!
Should not be the CM at all!
Should not be anywhere above the post of a peon or a bus conductor!!

I think @ArvindKejriwal is saying right.
He is also a father.

It's my appeal to all parents , kindly take care of your children.

I suppose @ArvindKejriwal.
He is right.

An elected CM doesn't speak for India? Wow. Is India someone's father's property now?

— Amresh Kumar 🇮🇳 (@kamreshAK) May 19, 2021

There have been multiple rounds of back and forth over this, and looks like this will not stop anytime soon. What do you think?
