Narendra Modi Says That The Government Should Not Interfere With The Medias Smooth Functioning

After almost cleansing the country of black money, seems PM Modi is all set to trigger a new media revolution.

On the occasion of Press Day, on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it very clear that the unwanted intrusion of the government with the smooth functioning of the media is not a great idea.

Narendra Modi says the media should work without the government’s interference© Twitter

In regards to restrictions being imposed on the media, he quoted Mahatma Gandhi and said “Unrestrained writing can create a huge crisis”. But he also opined that external forces interfering with the media can hinder the whole process and the media should be allowed to work without restraints.  He also added that judging the media on what mistakes are committed would be unfair.

It is nothing less than ironical that a few days before the Information and Broadcasting Ministry banned NDTV for a day. Though PM Modi might be thinking straight about liberating the media in our country, it is yet to be seen how progressive these media reforms will be in the near future.
