The OnePlus 5 Is Having Some Serious Display Issues Because It Was Mounted Upside-Down

OnePlus 5 had a great run during the initial phase of its launch. It was the most talked about smartphone in the world, however, people are talking about the phone for different reasons today. The smartphone is facing “Jelly Scrolling” like issues which have caused many users to either return the smartphone for repairs or have it replaced by the Chinese company. The cause of this problem has been discovered, and it is happening because the display has been mounted upside-down.

The problem persists in some of the OnePlus 5 units and it causes the screen display to stretch and condense content. This happens whenever a user swipes up or down when scrolling and can only be noticed if you have the eye for it.

OnePlus acknowledged the problem by mentioning it in their forums and was discovered in the kernel source code of the device by XDA. OnePlus is apparently using a separate software to resolve the issue of a upside-down mounted display. Other Android smartphones do not have this code which denotes that the display has definitely been mounted upside down.

Even after disassembling the OnePlus 5, one can still notice this issue. When compared to the OnePlus 3T, it is clearly visible that the upside-down display was implemented on purpose and it could have been done to make extra room for the camera module.

However one should know that this can occur to even normally mounted displays as it is a characteristic of the technology. You can take your current smartphone (especially if it is an AMOLED), turn it upside down and start scrolling. You will notice a similar jelly like scrolling experience.
