Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj has said that Pakistani nationals seeking medical treatment in India will be issued visas on the recommendation of Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz.

In a series of tweets on Monday, Swaraj assured that Pakistani patients will be granted Indian visas immediately if Sartaj Aziz recommends them.

?I have my sympathies for all Pakistan nationals seeking medical visa for their treatment in India,? she said.

?I am sure Mr. Sartaj Aziz also has consideration for the nationals of his country.?

?All that we require is his recommendation for the grant of medical visa to Pakistan nationals,? she continued, adding, ?I see no reason why should he hesitate to give his recommendation for nationals of his own country.?

Last week, the visa application of a Pakistani patient was rejected by the Indian Embassy, which cited worsening relations between the two countries as the reason for refusal.

The patient was due to receive treatment at the Inderprastha Dental College and Hospital (IDCH) in Ghaziabad for a case of recurrent ameloblastoma, a cancerous oral tumour.

After her visa was refused, the patient had appealed to politicians in both countries to help process her application.

Sushma Swaraj then mentioned the visa application of Avantika Jadhav, the mother of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, a death row inmate in Pakistan who was awarded death sentence by Field General Court Martial (FGMC) for espionage and subversive activities.

?We also have a visa application pending for an Indian national Mrs. Avantika Jadhav who wants to meet her son in Pakistan,? she tweeted.

Swaraj complained that she had written a personal letter to Aziz asking for Avantika's visa application to be approved so that she may travel to meet her son, but he had not acknowledged it.

?I wrote a personal letter to Mr. Sartaj Aziz for the grant of her visa to Pakistan.?

?However, Mr. Aziz has not shown the courtesy even to acknowledge my letter,? she said.

?But I assure Pakistan nationals seeking medical visa with a recommendation from Mr. Sartaj Aziz, we will issue the visa immediately,? she added.
