    At the 37th meeting of the Committee of Parliament on Official Language, Home Minister Amit Shah stated that Hindi should be accepted as an alternative to English.  
    The Home Minister was quoted as saying by the Ministry of Home Affairs, “Now the time has come to make the official language an important part of the unity of the country. When citizens of states who speak other languages communicate with each other, it should be in the language of India”. 
    And added, “Unless we make Hindi flexible by accepting words from other local languages, it will not be promoted”. 
    Soon after Amit Shah’s Hindi remark, a lot of people reacted strongly to it including a number of leaders from Tamil Nadu. 
    Amid the controversy, Oscar winning music composer AR Rahman took to social media and shared a poster of Goddess Tamil without adding any comment to it. 
    The poster has a goddess holding a staff with the Tamil letter 'a' (lazha) on it. The letter is unique to only Tamil language. 
    Besides that, the poster also has 'Tamizhanangu' written on it along with a line from a poem by revolutionary poet Bharathidasan. 
    The line reads, “Inba Thamizh Engal Urimai Sempayirukku Vaer" (Delightful Tamil is the root of the staple crop of our rights)”.

    AR Rahman’s post went viral in no time and the music maestro is now trending on Twitter.  
    Sharing ARR’s post, one user wrote, “So much love and respect for #ARRahman. The way he always takes a stand, when needed. Softly, but strongly”.

    Amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war crisis, Priyanka Chopra has released a video where she demanded world leaders to help refugees. 
    She tweeted, “World leaders, we need you to stand up for refugees around the WORLD to ensure that they get the support they need now. We can’t just stand by and watch. it’s gone on too long!” 
    In the video, the actress said, “It is one of the fastest large-scale displacement of children since World War 2. None of these children will ever be the same after what we have seen”.

    Soon after the video was released online, Priyanka was slammed from almost all quarters. 

    While one section of people bashed her for not speaking on Kashmiri Pandits genocide, another lot called her out for keeping mum over atrocities on dalits and minorities. 
    One user wrote, “Strangely @priyankachopra has not uttered a single word on the daily plight of pakistani Hindus, daily Hindu Village burning s of Bangladesh.” 
    Another wrote, “Has this hypocrite ever heard of Palestinians, Rohingyas, Afghanis, Yemenis, Syrians, Iraqis, Kashmiris or lynchings, hate speeches, ongoing communalism on daily basis in India?This is soft sanghi at play & typical UC tactic of showing selective concern...Tch tch what a slimeball”.

    Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, who have been in a steady relationship for a few years, are rumoured to be finally getting married very soon. As per the ongoing buzz, the lovebirds may exchange wedding vows next week, between April 14 and 17. In February this year too, the Queen star slammed Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi and called Alia a misfit for the role. Kangana also called her a 'romcom bimbo', 'papa ki pari' and added that 'Gangubai' will burn to ashes. While the film turned out to be a huge hit, Alia chose to ignore the comments made against her.     Before Alia, Ranbir was in a serious relationship with Katrina Kaif for several years. For the unversed, the duo fell in love while shooting for Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahaani and Kat parted ways with Salman Khan to be with the Saawariya star. Since then, Ranbir has been in the bad books of the Dabangg star. Hence, we won't be shocked if the Sanju actor decides to not include the superstar’s name in the invitation list.

    Ranbir and Katrina dated each other for six years before parting ways. The ex-couple was serious about each other and were planning to exchange wedding vows. However, the duo shocked everyone with their breakup news. Reportedly, they had a rather ugly breakup and the discomfort between them was visible during the promotions of Jagga Jasoos in 2017. Interestingly, Alia was Katrina's close friend, however, reports suggested that their equation got affected when the Raazi star started dating Ranbir. While both the ladies are still cordial with each other, it'll be interesting to see if Katrina gets an invitation to the shaadi or not.

    Govinda was supposed to be a part of Ranbir's production venture Jagga Jasoos. He even shot for his part, however, his cameo couldn't make it to the final cut. This irked the Aankhen star, who vented out his anger on social media and slammed director Anurag Basu as well as Ranbir. One of the posts read, "I gave full respect to Kapoor family I did the film because he is my seniors son I was told I will get the script". Later, the Barfi actor even apologised to him. However, it's not yet clear if everything's fine between them or not.

    During the 2019 World Cup in England, Indian cricket fans were saluting the former Indian captain and wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni for wearing the Para Special Forces' 'Balidaan' insignia on his gloves.
    The symbol reflects the 'Balidaan' or 'Sacrifice' that Para SF hopefuls make in order to become a part of one of the Indian Army's finest units after years and years of training in extremely difficult circumstances.
    This man shows his love for the nation and army.

    Despite the fact that the emblem is more of a reward than a badge, as it is only given to a member of the para regiment after they have served for one year in the country's most dangerous areas as active servicemen, Dhoni was given the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel of the unit by then-Indian President Pratibha Patil in 2011.
    Dhoni also completed a two-week training programme with the Para SF in 2015, which included his maiden para jump.

    So when Dhoni wore the 'Balidaan' emblem on his gloves without making a huge issue about it, he did so solely to express his gratitude and affection for the courageous warriors of the Indian Defence Forces, with no political objective in mind.
    However, within a couple of days after the issue became of international importance, the International Cricket Council (ICC) ordered the BCCI to make Dhoni get rid of the special gloves and wear the ones that were without any such logos.

    Talking about the incident on the Backstage of Boria, the former BCCI head Vinod Rai shared why did the Indian cricket board agree to ICC’s demands, even though Dhoni’s gesture did not support any political agenda.
    “I also feel that it was a small insignia and that he (Dhoni) should be entitled to wearing it. If you recall, in the beginning, we (the BCCI) backed him. But unfortunately, there were 11 pages of ICC rules which went to the details about what the players can wear and not wear and the gloves were also included in those 11 pages. Once, there is a ruling or a regulation, I don’t want the team to be going against that regulation,” Rai said.

    “Everybody wants to play the game the way the ICC wants to conduct it. We are a part of the entire (organisaiton) and that’s how we persuaded them to stay away from it,” he added.
    Not too long before this incident, the ICC had allowed the Men in Blue to wear camouflage caps to show their condolences towards the loss of lives of our brave soldiers during the infamous Pulwama terror attack that took place on Valentine's Day, 2019.

    Reacting strongly to Yuzvendra Chaha’s allegations of physical harassment by a drunk Mumbai Indians teammate back in 2013, former India head coach Ravi Shastri has demanded strong action be taken against the culprit.
    Chahal’s shocking revelation has stunned the whole cricket fraternity and Shastri’s reaction was no different. Expressing his shock over the incident, he said that some people might have found this to be “funny” but for him it was not a “laughing matter” as a person’s life was at risk.

    The former India all-rounder said what worried him the most was that the person who did this was under strong influence of alcohol. Shastri said when a person is in such a state the chances of him committing a mistake get even higher because there is no way for him to tell right from wrong because the person is not in his senses.

    “No laughing matter at all. I do not know who the person involved is, he was not in a conscious state of mind. If that is the case, then it is a big worry. Someone's life is at risk, some people might think it is funny but for me, it is not funny at all,” Shastri said during an interaction on ESPNcricinfo show 'T20 Time Out'.
    “It shows the person who is trying to do it is in a state which is not appropriate. When you are in such a state trying something like that, the chances of mistakes are even more. It is not acceptable at all.

    “It is the first time I am hearing such a drastic thing like this. It is not funny at all. If such an incident happens today, a life ban for that person involved and send that person to a rehab centre as quickly as possible. Life ban, better not come near to a cricket field then he will realise how funny is it or not funny,” Shastri said in his strong voice.

    Before Shastri, former India opener Virender Sehwag sympathised with the leg-spinner and questioned the Mumbai Indians what action was taken against the player after they came to know about the horrific incident that could have turned really ugly.

    However, for some reason, the former former dashing opener deleted his tweet and since then the fans have been trolling him for showing fake sympathy with Chahal and not standing up for his words.

    Fans and players are reacting but it remains to be seen whether Mumbai Indians will come out in public and address the situation or push it under the carpet as if it never happened.

    Just to give you a little context, before Tewatia only one player had smashed cleared the ropes twice with 12 required to win off the last two deliveries. This player was none other than former CSK captain and one of the most explosive batters of this generation MS Dhoni.
    However, for some reason, instead of celebrating Tewatia’s knock, some of the blind haters started trolling the 40-year-old legendary cricketer by making fun of his finishing skills. Dhoni’s supporters also didn’t sit quietly and hit back at the trolls for disrespecting a player who has won many matches single-handedly for over a decade, both at the international level and in the IPL.

    Be it Tewatia or Dinesh Karthik or Ayush Badoni, whenever a batter finishes the game for his side, he is always compared to Dhoni because he is considered to be the benchmark and that tells you everything about how good he was in his prime.
    We all know Dhoni is in the twilight phase of his career and rather than comparing him to the younger lot, we all must enjoy his remaining time on the field.
