Virat Kohli’s brand value has taken a massive hit in the last 12 months, going down from around $238 million (Rs 1,803 cr) in 2020 to $181 million (Rs 1,371 cr) in 2021.
This massive plunge is a direct result of what transpired on the field in the last six months. The Delhi batter is not the leader anymore. He relinquished T20I and Test captaincy on his own but was sacked unceremoniously from the 50-over role by the Indian cricket board. He even stepped down from the RCB captaincy.

His performances on the field weren’t great either and not to forget he was also involved in various controversies with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and its president Sourav Ganguly over the last few months and all this has caused a huge dip in his brand value.

“One of the major factors for this drop was the increased risk associated with his brand and with the recent stepping down from captaincy and controversy with the BCCI,” Aviral Jain, Managing Director, Duff & Phelps, the agency that published this report, was quoted as saying by Moneycontrol.

Despite his brand value taking a huge plunge, the 33-year-old still continues to be India’s top celebrity brand endorser for the fifth consecutive year.

He has eclipsed the likes of Ranveer Singh ($158m) and Akshay Kumar ($140m), Aliya Bhatt ($68m) who occupy the next three spots on the list.
Even though his valuation has gone down considerably, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper still endorses more than 30 brands. Despite the plunge, he continues to be the most valuable athlete in the country.

There is a stark difference in Kohli’s brand value and the next cricketer on the list – MS Dhoni who has a valuation of $61m. The former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper, who guided them to their fourth IPL trophy last year, has seen a rise in his valuation but he is still miles behind his RCB compatriot.

Rohit Sharma, who took Kohli’s place as India’s new all-format captain, has also seen his brand value increase from $25.7 million in 2020 to $32.2 million in 2021

Just to put into perspective, the loss Kohli endured on his brand value was way more than Rohit’s current brand valuation. Just looking at the numbers, the Mumbai Indians skipper has a huge catching up to do before he can rival Kohli’s brand popularity.
There’s no doubt that Kohli's numbers have gone down but he is still the undisputed king of the brand endorsement industry and it’s a testament to his overall supremacy.

So far, Marvel Studios’ Disney+ superhero shows have been more misses than hits, and the new superhero show Moon Knight can be added to the latter category.
The show is about an innocent British gift shop employee Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) who soon realises that his body is also controlled by an ex-US mercenary Marc Spector (Oscar Isaac). The two personalities reluctantly join forces to take on a dangerous & religious cult leader Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) while also trying to demystify the mysteries of Egyptian gods.

Jeremy Slater brings a fresh and never seen before take to the superhero genre in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Over the years, Marvel Studios was often accused of taking the set route for their superhero movies and shows and following the same pattern one project after the other.

They tried to do it differently last year with Eternals and now, with Moon Knight, the studio has created a show that borders more on the DC territory while being an MCU show at heart. And gladly, it works.
Despite being a superhero show, Moon Knight often plays like an adventure horror-thriller that works well with the screenplay and keeps the audience engaged.
Writer & creator Jeremy Slater and director Mohamed Diab create a narrative that is unique and fresh to MCU fans. Unlike other MCU movies and shows, Moon Knight is presented as a standalone show that takes its own time with no pressure of following an earlier set tone or pattern.

The same aspect also becomes a hindrance at times when Moon Knight overindulges in its plot and starts to lag in between and the screenplay feels stretched in those moments.

Coming to the performances, a few minutes into the first episode and you realise why Oscar Isaac showed interest in this show and got on board.
He gets to display two different characters with different accents while being in the same body and also flex his muscles as well as comedic chops.
Ethan Hawke has a towering presence. The calm & composure that his supervillain character carries is often terrifying. Moreso because Arthur Harrow is a kind of character that easily exists in real life. Of course, minus the superpowers.
May Calamawy as Layla El-Faouly is first-rate while F. Murray Abraham's voice over as the Egyptian moon god Khonshu is a masterstroke.

Overall, Moon Knight is The Mummy, Indiana Jones & a horror-thriller rolled into one with two powerhouse performers as its lead.

Virat Kohli remains one of the most happening players in the Indian cricket team who has gone through a heap of ups and downs throughout his career and there is little to no doubt that when he retires, film producers will be standing in a long line just to discuss a potential biopic with him.
Kohli’s cricketing journey has gone through a lot both on and off the field. He was in the middle of the Indian technological revolution when Indian cricket fans found a way to express their emotions on social media platforms like Twitter. While that had its perks, it also came with a lot of toxicity and with the polarising personality that Kohli has, he had some good and bad days.

Every aspect of Kohli’s life has been analysed and overanalysed. From his marriage to one of the top Bollywood actresses to his party-boy phase during the early years of his international career, the man feels like an open book. His journey from an alcohol-consuming, butter-chicken-guzzling lad to the youth and fitness icon of the country, who made some drastic changes to the fitness levels within Team India, is commendable.
Then there are also the controversies that surround him on the field and within the Indian cricket board.

For instance, the very-public disparity that was shared between Kohli and his former head coach Anil Kumble which led to the latter stepping down from his position but not before throwing Kohli under the bus, or one of the more recent developments that took place when Kohli contradicted BCCI President Sourav Ganguly’s comments about showing concern towards him quitting as the T20I skipper.
Lately, however, one of the biggest talking points about Kohli’s career is the great drought that the former skipper has been going through ever since November 2019 during which he has not been able to score even a single century in any of the three formats of the game.

The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is currently underway in full swing and the tournament has produced some great encounters already.
Every year, players from all over the world come and make their mark in the cash-rich league, except for Pakistani cricketers who have been barred from entering the league owing to severe political ties between the two Asian nations which has brought their bi-lateral cricketing ties to a halt.

Participating in the world’s biggest T20 league is high on the priority list of most players, but given the current situation the Pakistani players can only dream about it. That’s the reason why every now and then we come across statements like how their players would have attracted huge bids if they were part of the auction.
The latest comment has come from former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar who says Pakistani skipper Babar Azam would have easily fetched Rs 15-20 crore in the IPL auction. He even joked that even if he was in a wheelchair, he would have still gotten a huge amount.

“I think me, even if I am on wheelchair,” Akhtar told Sportskeeda, when asked to name the Pakistani player who would have attracted the highest bid if he was part of the auction.

“In the auction, Babar would go for 15-20 crore,” said the former speedster, who holds the world record of bowling the fastest delivery in cricket.

The ‘Rawalpindi Express’ also named the franchise he would want Babar to play for in the IPL. He said watching the current Pak skipper open the innings with former Indian captain Virat Kohli in the IPL would be a great spectacle for all the cricket lovers.

“It would be great to see Babar Azam and Virat Kohli playing together in the IPL. How nice it would be if they open the innings in the IPL one day,” said Akhtar who was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad in the opening season.

This was not the first time a person had placed a huge price tag on the Pakistani players. Last month, a Pak journalist had become a butt of jokes after he said Shaheen Afridi would have gone for Rs 200 crore in the auction.

The Indian fans weren’t that surprised by Akhtar’s comments and they actually enjoyed how stupid it made him look. Some supporters even trolled the former pacer and told him a thing or two about the IPL auction dynamics and urged him to stop daydreaming.

    — Ratan Karlekar (@KarlekarRatan) March 29, 2022What a joke, it's not test cricket Legends like Gayle & Raina went unsold once
    — Indian (@Indian93305872) March 29, 2022No not really , maybe like Steve smith type money , just over base price
    — Rajveer Wariah (@RajveerWariah) March 29, 2022Pakistan fast bowlers may go for big price in IPL but not PAK batters
    — BHIMRAJ (@bhimrajAB17) March 29, 2022 Babar Azam is no doubt a world class player but that alone doesn’t guarantee success in the lucrative league. Every year we witness several world-class cricketers going unsold in the auction. Even this year, top players like Steve Smith failed to attract any bids.
Also, more than a player’s quality, the crazy bidding depends on a number of factors and that’s why nobody can say for sure how much a player would go for in the auction.
