The first half of the Indian Premier League 2022 is already in full swing and every single franchise has now played one match. This means that all 10 teams in this year’s edition of the IPL now have a place for themselves in the points table based on their win-to-loss ratio and the Net Run Rate, in order to break the tie between two or more teams with an equal number of wins.
So far in the tournament, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans have all won their first and only match whereas some of the more historically successful franchises like Mumbai Indians, SunRisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Lucknow SuperGiants and the reigning IPL champions Chennai Super Kings have found themselves on the lower end of the points table.

Among the losers, three teams in specific have gathered a lot of attention from the public, especially because of the bad Net Run Rates that they have had on the only match they have played so far. RCB (-0.697), MI (-914) and SunRisers Hyderabad (-3.05) are three of the worst teams at the moment, even among the losing sides.
Yes, it is excruciatingly early in the season and the win or the loss in the first match of the tournament does not have a lot of weightage in terms of where will the season end for any of the teams.
However, that has never stopped the online trolls from making the most of the situation and letting the teams know where they are standing at the moment.
    RCB at 8

    — Harsh (@Hari01426624) March 29, 2022In points table @SunRisers Will stay in the last position permanently . Because of the SRH management and mostly whole credit goes to Kaviya
    — vamshi megafan (@krishnav628) March 29, 2022RCB going to Last Place tomorrow
    — Gill Supremacy (@GillFan77) March 29, 2022Some of the very specific concerns from the first week of the IPL:
The first key concern has to do with the fact that Faf du Plessis’ RCB were unable to protect a 200-run total and were defeated by Mayank Agarwal’s PBKS with one entire left to spare. Despite a strong batting order, the fact that world-class bowlers like Mohammed Siraj and Wanindu Hasaranga went for 59 and 40 runs, respectively suggests the kind of work they have to do to make their chances look better.
Secondly, the SunRisers Hyderabad aren’t looking much different from the way they were during the previous season. Not only did they start their season with a loss, but their Net Run Rate is also so abysmal that recovering from it will be a challenge in itself.
It will be interesting to see the kind of changes each of these teams will make to their roster to better adapt to the situation and how that will eventually reflect on the IPL Points Table.

Directed by Sian Hader and starring Emilia Jones, Troy Kotsur, Daniel Durant, and Marlee Matlin, CODA created history by becoming the first film from Apple TV and from any OTT platform to win the biggest award at the Oscars ceremony - Best Picture.
CODA stands for Child Of Death Adults and the film is about the only hearing member of a deaf family who tries to help her family while pursuing her dream to become a singer.
After the film won the Best Picture award at the Oscars 2022, a user took to Twitter and pointed out that CODA is a remake of the French film La Famille Bélier (2014), which, in turn, was a remake of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut movie as a director Khamoshi: The Musical starring Salman Khan, Manisha Koirala, Seema Biswas and Nana Patekar.

The user wrote, “Trívia: #CODA is a remake of The Familie Bélier, a French film, itself a remake of the Indian film Khamoshi - The Musical, from 1997 #Oscars”.

Soon after the user pointed it out, a lot of people agreed in unison, while there were others who cast doubts on Khamoshi’s originality.
One user wrote, “I keep waiting for them to mention this!” Another wrote, “Coda and khamoshi does have alot of similarities !!! Khamoshi was a beautiful film”.

One tweet read, “Been saying this forever now”.

However, one user claimed that Khamoshi itself was a remake of the German film Jenseits der Stille but that claim was quashed by another user who mentioned that the Salman Khan starrer was released in August 1996 while the German film released in December of the same year.

The Kashmir Files, written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri, is smashing box office records and has entered the Rs 200 crore club. The film is based on true events and chronicles the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990 during the Kashmir Insurgency. It stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, and others in pivotal roles.

While many Bollywood celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Kangana Ranaut, Salman Khan among others have appreciated The Kashmir Files, John Abraham recently refused to comment on it. The Bollywood hunk, who is currently busy promoting his next release, Attack, was asked to comment on the much-acclaimed film at a promotional event recently.
The actor got irked by the 'ghise-pite' questions and refused to talk about Agnihotri's film based on Kashmiri Pandits. On being asked about The Kashmir Files, John stated that he had not seen the film and had nothing to say about it. Later, he told the reporters that he was there to discuss Attack and that only questions regarding the film should be asked.
    View this post on Instagram
He said, "You are asked on the news desk to bring controversy, then you come here and say, ‘Tell us something about The Kashmir Files.’ Why will I do that?"
At the same event, the actor also slammed a journalist who asked him about the 'overdose' of action in his films. The reporter then cleared that he was talking about Satyameva Jayate 2. Reacting to it, John replied, "Main toh Attack ki baat kar raha hu, agar aapko isse problem hai (I am talking about Attack. If you have problem with this), toh I am sorry. I really offended you".
Later, the Mumbai Saga star mocked the journalist by calling him "dumb" and "uncle".
Talking about Attack, the film is directed by Lakshya Raj Anand and stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Rakul Preet Singh as the female leads. Touted as an action-packed spectacle never-seen-before in Indian cinema, it is slated to hit the theatres on April 1.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has published a media rights tender for the Indian Premier League seasons between 2023 and 2027, with an e-auction set to begin on June 12.
I'm pleased to announce that @BCCI has issued the tender document for @IPL media rights for seasons 2023-27. With 2 new teams, more matches, more engagement, more venues, we are looking to take #TataIPL to newer and greater heights.
    — Jay Shah (@JayShah) March 29, 2022
The Indian Cricket Board filed the media rights tender for the 2023-2027 IPL seasons on Tuesday, hoping to make a windfall of about Rs 50,000 crore. For the first time in IPL history, the BCCI will hold an e-auction for new bidders, which will begin on June 12th.
According to the board's secretary Jay Shah, the BCCI administrators are hoping to push the Indian T20 league to new and greater heights with two new teams, more matches, more involvement, and more venues.
The Tender document is now available for purchase. For the first time in @IPL history, the media rights will be e-auctioned. The e-auction will commence from June 12th, 2022 #TATAIPL
    — Jay Shah (@JayShah) March 29, 2022
Shah claims that he has no doubts that this method will result in not only revenue maximisation but also value maximisation, which will greatly assist Indian cricket.
Star India has the current five-year rights (TV and digital) for the IPL from 2018 to 2022, but those in decision-making positions say the valuation, which is now Rs 16,347.50 crore (USD 2.55 billion), is too low.
I've no doubts that with this process there will not only be revenue maximisation but also value maximisation, which will benefit India Cricket immensely #TATAIPL
    — Jay Shah (@JayShah) March 29, 2022
Back in December 2021, it was analysed that the valuation for the next five-year cycle of the IPL media and digital rights will be between approximately Rs. 36,000 crore. However, within the next three months, it has been declared by the BCCI that the actual valuation might be over Rs 14,000 crore more than the previously predicted numbers.
Therefore, almost a three-fold boost in the media rights valuation could be seen as early as June 12th and one of the biggest reasons for that would be the addition of Gujarat Titans and Lucknow SuperGiants teams which has led the IPL to expand from 60 to 74 matches, resulting in a bidding battle among its counterparts, including Zee-Sony and Reliance Viacom 18.
50k crores. That’s what the @IPL media rights could fetch! In 15 years this is just an incredible growth story and also is the larger story of India as the nerve center of global cricket. Media rights tender out for @IPL @BCCI
    — Boria Majumdar (@BoriaMajumdar) March 29, 2022
Amazon Prime, Meta, and YouTube, among others, are expected to compete aggressively for digital space, according to the BCCI.
The entire terms and conditions are listed in the 'Invitation to Tender' (ITT), which will be made available upon receipt of a non-refundable deposit of Rs 25 lakh excluding GST, according to a statement released by the BCCI.

Before venturing into comedies, filmmaker David Dhawan used to make action melodramas in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s.

It was with the 1992 hit Shola aur Shabnam with Govinda that David realised his true potential. A year later, the duo delivered the biggest blockbuster of the year in Aankhen.
Ever since, there has been no looking back for David Dhawan, whose name as a filmmaker is now synonymous with comedy films.
Here’s a list of 5 other filmmakers of the recent era who switched genres and found their true calling:
    1. Vivek Agnihotri   © Instagram/Vivek Agnihotri
The filmmaker started his career with the 2005 film Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets, a rip-off of Hollywood classic The Usual Suspects.

He then ventured into different genres like sports drama, romance and erotic thriller, however, success eluded him until he decided to switch to political thrillers.
He made The Tashkent Files in 2017 which turned out to be a sleeper hit and with his latest release, The Kashmir Files he created history.
The film has earned more than Rs 230 crore and is on course to go past Rs 250 crore. Vivek Agnihotri says he will continue to make films on similar lines in future as well.
    2. Anubhav Sinha   © Instagram/Anubhav Sinha
Anubhav Sinha started his career as a feature-length director with the 2001 romantic musical Tum Bin. He followed it up with films like Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai (romance), Dus (action thriller) and Ra.One (superhero).

Some of them worked at the box office and others didn’t. But the respect as a filmmaker was missing. And then, in 2018, he switched genres and turned to social and political dramas.
Anubhav delivered critically acclaimed films like Mulk, Article 15, Thappad and created a niche for himself. His next release in Anek with Ayushmann Khurrana.
    3. Sanjay Leela Bhansali   © BCCL
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's name is synonymous with grand spectacles. However, it wasn’t always the case with his films.

He started off with the drama Khamoshi: The Musical and followed it up with Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas and Black. These films gave a glimpse of the filmmaker he was to become in future.
And after delivering duds in Saawariya & Guzaarish, SLB decided to focus on grand spectacles and made period dramas like Bajirao Mastaani, Padmaavat and Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Such has been the impact of these films that now whenever a filmmaker makes a period drama, he is compared to Bhansali.
He is next making a web series titled Heera Mandi and a film titled Baiju Bawra. Expect grandness from both these projects.
    4. Rohit Shetty  © Instagram/Rohit Shetty
Known for delivering one blockbuster film after the other, Rohit Shetty started his career as a director with the action drama Zameen which flopped at the box office.

With his second film itself, the filmmaker surprised everyone and delivered a cult hit in the comedy genre titled Golmaal: Fun Unlimited.
He did return to the action genre with Singham but not before making a few other hilarious films like Sunday, Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 3 and All the Best.
    5. Hansal Mehta  © Instagram/Hansal Mehta
It wasn’t until he switched to human dramas that Hansal Mehta made a name for himself as a filmmaker. He used to make films like Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar, Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai? & Woodstock Villa etc but it was with the 2012 film Shahid that he gained recognition.

Since then, he has directed critically acclaimed sensitive films like Citylights, Aligarh and Omerta. And found further success with web series like Scam 1992.

Despite hitting over 300 runs in the 2019 World Cup, KL Rahul says he was 'frustrated' when he was left out of the selection for the second series.
India's World Cup campaign ended with disappointment after being outplayed by New Zealand in the first semi-final at the Old Trafford stadium in Manchester, despite finishing the league stage as the No. 1 team at the top of the points table, with their sole defeat coming against England. India fell short by 18 runs in reply to New Zealand's 239/8, putting an end to Virat Kohli's team's strong run in the competition.

Despite injuries, the Men in Blue were ahead of every other team at the end of the league stage. Shikhar Dhawan suffered a fractured wrist and had to be ruled out of the game early on. Vijay Shankar was later ruled out due to an ankle ailment, and Rishabh Pant was called up in his place.

Due to Dhawan's injury, KL Rahul, who batted at No. 4 in India's first two matches, was elevated to open alongside Rohit Sharma, and he performed admirably, scoring 361 runs in nine matches, including two fifties and a century.

However, with India set to play the West Indies soon after the World Cup, Rahul was dismissed from the squad, an event that the star batter reflected on. Rahul described the situation as "frustrating", but said he found solace in Chris Gayle in order to get through it.
In a conversation with Gaurav Kapur on the show Breakfast with Champions, Rahul dived deep into the narrative. He shared how following the World Cup, Team India played a series in the West Indies. Rahul had played in the World Cup and performed admirably, but he was dropped when the team headed to the Caribbean.
Rahul revealed that he was contacting Chris Gayle, who requested that he come by the pool, where he was having a drink. The next day was his 300th game, so he was overjoyed and invited some buddies around. So he set out. The 'Universe Boss' met with Rahul and talked to him about his dismissal.
The Lucknow SuperGiants skipper admitted that being dropped after a respectable performance in the World Cup was frustrating, but that the West Indies legend's guidance helped him land a better possibility.
    View this post on Instagram
"You know, I obviously was frustrated because I played the World Cup and I'm not playing this. Makes no sense. So, I was just talking to him and he's like 'See you can always say that you're not playing because of 100 other reasons but it's in your hands whether you play or not. If 70 is not enough, get 150. If you are getting 150, get 200 if that's not enough. That's how you need to look at things. If a 600-run IPL season is not enough, then get 800. Or like you're getting 50s, 60s in the World Cup, you should have converted that and gotten 100-120s. Then no one has the power to drop you'," he added.
