    Indians are hailing airman Darshan Shah who is serving as an aerospace medical technician in the US Air Force for pursuing a religious waiver to allow him to wear tilak while in uniform.  
    The waiver was approved after two years’ wait and the Hindu community in the US and India are expressing their gratitude towards the US military officials.

    Shah is assigned to the 90th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron and has been seeking a waiver since he joined the military. He has been wearing the tilak chandlo (a red dot inside a U-shaped marking) on his forehead since he was in third grade and considers it as his identity.

    “I feel like that’s a part of who I am,” said Shah who is a follower of Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottan Swaminarayan Sanstha or BAPS. “I’ve been through a lot, and I feel like my religion is helping me through a lot as well in life. When I wear this uniform, that’s an identity as well. But I feel like I have my full identity when I have the Tilak Chandlo on my forehead,” he added.

    Through an official communication of the 90th Missile Wing Chaplain Corps, he thanked the US Air Force for letting him wear the tilak. He said, “We live in a country where we’re allowed to practise and have faith in what we want. That’s what makes this such a great country. We’re not persecuted for what we follow or believe. If it wasn’t for the first amendment, I wouldn’t be able to do this at all. I wouldn’t be able to be who I am while being a military member or even a citizen.” 

    Shah plans to become a commissioned officer and serve as a doctor once he completes his degree. He plans to serve in the Air Force for at least the next 20 years.

    Religious faith and sentiments can often conflict with the rules and regulations of an institution that requires people to be viewed equally and without discrimination. 

    A very fresh incident happened in India where female Muslim students in Karnataka were asked to remove hijab since it was not a part of the uniform. This created a political and religious row and protests on the streets.

    A lot of people on social media couldn’t help but relate this incident to the Hijab row. They called out the irony about religious bias in “secular India” and hypocrisy of people who are showing gratitude but won’t support or worse oppose the hijab protest.

    Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra, who was last seen in the biographical drama Saina, was all set to team up with Ranbir Kapoor in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal. Their fans were also excited to see both the stars together onscreen for the very first time. However, here comes bad news for them. As per the latest buzz, Parineeti has opted out of Animal to be a part of Imtiaz Ali's next. Yes, you read that right!

    Reportedly, the actress will be a part of Imtiaz Ali's Chamkila, a biopic of Indian singer Amar Singh Chamkila. The film marks Parineeti's first collaboration with the Jab We Met helmer, however, she had to, unfortunately, leave Animal due to date issues between both the projects. 
    Revealing the same, a source informed Bollywood Hungama, "Parineeti is going to work with Imtiaz Ali for the first time in her career as the heroine in the ace director’s next, Chamkila. It is a huge moment for her because she has always wanted to creatively collaborate with the visionary director". 
    The source added, "She has to get into prep immediately for the shoot, and unfortunately due to this development, she won’t be able to shoot for Animal as there is a major overlap of dates between the two films. So, RK and Parineeti fans will have to wait a little bit longer for a new project to bring them together on screen".

    While Parineeti is yet to react to the development, fans aren't happy with her decision. Several Reddit users called it a ‘stupid move’ and expressed their disappointment. Reacting to the news, a Reddit user wrote, "Well Imtiaz is in the flop phase of his career, so this was a completely stupid move".
    Another comment reads, "You gotta give it to her for being so consistent in making bad career choices lol. She has given up so many good movies like Piku and chosen some really shitty projects…idk if it’s her own senses or someone is guiding her".

    A spirited Bangladesh cricket team created history as they registered their maiden ODI series triumph over South Africa in their own backyard. Heading into the third and the final match, the series was in the balance but even then not many had predicted an outcome like this. 
    The visitors had clinched the series opener by 38 runs in Centurion but they suffered a heavy seven-wicket defeat in the next encounter in Johannesburg.

    With all to play for, the Bangladesh players produced a clinical performance and left the hosts with a nine-wicket humiliation. Their bowlers cleaned up the hosts for a paltry 157 runs in 37 overs.
    Carrying on the momentum set up by their bowling unit, their batters made short work of the target and got their team over the line in the 27th over, losing only one wicket in the process.

    Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, who had attracted interest from IPL outfit Lucknow Super Giants, stole the show, picking up five wickets for 35 runs, which earned him his maiden Player of the Series award.
    How proud he must be that he didn’t argue with the Bangladesh Cricket Board, after they denied him the No Objection certificate, and agreed to stay with his national team. It’s a moment that he will cherish forever.

    No praise is enough to commend the Bangladesh players who outplayed the opposition on their own turf. After all, beating South Africa in their own backyard is no joke. 
    Ask KL Rahul and the Indian team. Just a couple of months ago, they failed to win a single match and returned home with a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of these very Proteas players.

    The Indian supporters are delighted with Bangladesh’s historic triumph in the Rainbow nation but this series win has reopened their old wounds. While congratulating the Tamim Iqbal-led side, the Indian fans also mocked their own players, especially the stand-in skipper KL Rahul, for their disastrous performance.
    Most of the Indian players had fared poorly in that series but even after two months the fans still think that the outcome would have been different had KL Rahul not been at the helm.

    After the all-time blockbusters Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, filmmaker SS Rajamouli is returning with the upcoming action spectacle RRR. 
    Starring NTR Jr, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn, RRR is slated to release this week and is carrying a good amount of hype around it.

    The film is expected to break records not just in Telugu but also in its dubbed Hindi version and it has been revealed that the ticket pricing for the film is insanely and unimaginably high at multiplexes in different parts of the country. 

    According to a report in News18, at a multiplex in Delhi, one ticket of the Hindi version of RRR is being sold at a whopping price of Rs 2,100 without the convenience fee charged by ticket booking website Book My Show.

    This is followed by a high-end multiplex in Mumbai that is charging Rs 1,320 for a recliner seat.

    A multiplex in Pune is charging Rs 1,250 for a 3D Telugu version of the film. While fourth on the list is a multiplex in Mohali that is charging Rs 975 for one ticket of the Hindi 3D version.

    Next in line is a multiplex in Bengaluru charging Rs 700 per ticket.

    However, ticket pricing in other major cities in South India is relatively on the lower side. A multiplex in Hyderabad is charging Rs Rs 235 in 2D and Rs 470 for 3D. A Chennai multiplex is charging Rs 250 for one ticket of RRR. 

    RRR also stars MCU star Ray Stevenson and Indiana Jones actor Alison Doody. 
    The film is slated to release in theatres on March 25.

    Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who has been out of action since November last year, will be roaring to prove his credentials once more in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League, which gets underway on Saturday (March 26) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
    Ever since he got his lower back operated in the UK in 2019, he hasn’t been able to recreate the same magic neither with the bat nor the ball.     Former India head coach Ravi Shatstri also doesn’t see Hardik returning to Team India only on the basis of his batting abilities. He opines that for the lower-order position that he is fighting for, he needs to bring something extra to the table.

    However, contrary to the chief selector, the former all-rounder believes that Hardik’s national call-up is not hinged on an outstanding IPL season. He can achieve his goal through a ‘limited success’ in IPL 2022. All he needs is to prove to the selectors that he has recovered completely and that he can be trusted to deliver with both bat and balls.

    “That is why from Hardik's point of view, from India's point of view, from the Gujarat team's point of view, it's extremely important that he strings those two or three overs together because if he does and bowls with even limited success, he becomes an automatic choice in the Indian team,” Shastri explained. 
    Given the positions he bats and bowls, nobody expects Hardik to lead the Orange and Purple Cap race but he sure does need to deliver some goods, only then can he push the national selectors to call him back.

    Reacting to Kapil’s appreciation for Mann, a troll accused the ace comedian of buttering up the newly appointed CM to get a Rajya Sabha ticket. The troll also accused former cricketer Harbhajan Singh of the same.  
    His response read, “हरभजन की तरह राज्यसभा के टिकट के लिए मक्खन लगा रहे हो क्या ।” 
    Kapil had a scathing response to the troll as he bashed him asking if he can arrange for a job for him. The comedian also added that he isn’t buttering up the CM but only hopes for the country to prosper. 
    His tweet read, “बिलकुल नहीं मित्तल साहब, बस इतना सा ख़्वाब है कि देश तरक़्क़ी करे बाक़ी आप कहो तो आपकी नौकरी की लिए कहीं बात करूँ ?”

    One of the biggest names of sports journalism in India, Vikrant Gupta is having a tough lead up to the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL)  on his own TV show where his guests and he himself have not been able to stop from making one major mistake after the other.

    In the middle of a conversation regarding the top-performing franchises in the Indian T20 league, Gupta wanted to talk about those sides that have never won a single title ever since the tournament’s inception in 2008. While the journalist did take the name of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals, he also went on to say that Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians - the franchise with the most number of IPL championships (5 titles) - have also never won the trophy.
    Mumbai Indians fans and fans of the game, in general, were stunned by the lack of preparation that went into coming up with the discussion and were absolutely ruthless in letting Gupta have it:

    And even though Gupta wasn’t the one referring to Jackson as a non-Indian player the fact that he quickly picked up his phone and completely detached himself from the entire conversation had people worried that even Gupta may not know where Sheldon Jackson was from. 
    The fans of the game also ended up giving him an earful for not intervening and clarifying to this panel of ‘cricket experts’ about Jackson’s origin in Bhavnagar, Gujarat and for not calling them out for assuming his ‘non-Indianness’  simply based on the way his name sounds.

    After the story spread like wildfire on Twitter, Jackson ended up retweeting a post shared by one of his fans who not only talks about all of his achievements as a domestic cricketer but also shared the screenshot of Google Maps in which Saurasthra can be seen.
