On Saturday, Team India and Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah sent out a cryptic message that left fans perplexed on social media. During the Indian Premier League 2022 Mega Auction Day 1 in Bengaluru, Bumrah, who is presently off duty from India's limited-overs series against the West Indies, put a few emojis on his newest tweet.
— Jasprit Bumrah (@Jaspritbumrah93) February 12, 2022
The 28-year-old was not included in the blockbuster auction since he had previously been retained by Mumbai Indians for INR 12 crore. He posted a chuckle emoji followed by a facepalm emoji on Twitter. Interestingly, when he tweeted that, fast bowlers were going under the hammer at the mega auction and teams were spending a lot of money on them.
Fans on Twitter had some intriguing hypotheses in response to Bumrah's statement, claiming that the premium pacer was worrying about the fast bowlers being selected for a large fee while he was kept for INR 12 crore.

— An (@Ananya_888) February 12, 2022Deepak Chahar, a colleague of Bumrah's in Team India, was the prize of a tough four-way bidding battle that saw Chennai Super Kings get his services for a record INR 14 crore, making him their most expensive purchase in IPL auction history.
Likewise, the Mumbai Indians spent a lot of money on Ishan Kishan, a former MI player. After being purchased by a five-time championship-winning franchise, on Day 1 of the mega auction in Bengaluru on Saturday, he has become the costliest Indian player of all time in the history of the Indian T20 league (fourth overall).

The Rohit Sharma-led squad paid Rs 15.25 crore for Kishan, making him the second-most expensive Indian player acquired at an IPL auction behind the great Yuvraj Singh. Apart from Ishan, Mumbai also paid INR 3 crore for South Africa's Dewald Brevis, INR 30 lakh for pacer Basil Thampi, and INR 1.6 crore for spinner Murugan Ashwin.
Mumbai was left with a purse of INR 27.85 crore at the end of Day 1's auction. Every team in the IPL is allowed to form a roster of no more than 25 players. MI, who retained four players ahead of the auction, also spent a lot of money buying just four more players on the first day. Ahead of the second day of the mega auction, they have just Rs. 27.85 crore to purchase 17 new talents in order to have a full roster.

Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary former Indian cricket captain has once again argued that the uncapped Indian cricketers’ salary in IPL should be capped at a maximum of Rs 1 Crore. The former skipper feels that the easy money may spoil the budding talents and prevent them from enhancing their hunger for performing better.
Just two days prior to the 2022 IPL Mega Auction, Gavaskar wrote for Mid-Day that “The mega auction will happen over the weekend and some of our Under – 19 boys could become crorepatis in a few blinks of the eye. Doing well at the Under – 19 level doesn’t guarantee success at the IPL or even international level as has been seen over the years. The difference in standards is huge”.

— Rijul (@RijulJK) November 30, 2021
The Little Master further mentions – “Far too many get carried away and lose focus and are out of the game or seek the mirage of greener – looking pastures. The fair thing would be to put a limit of say Rs 1 Crore for uncapped players so that they know that to go further and earn more they have a lot of hard work ahead. Easy money has spoilt many a promising talent”.
Now let’s have a look at the actual scenario. Out of a total of 590 players available for the auction, 355 are uncapped ones. All of them will not get sold. The franchisees have become smarter and are being advised by experts and former great players. They very well know who to buy. That was evident from the fact that the Mumbai Indians waited for more than half the day to make their first buy as they knew that they wanted Ishan Kishan. So, gone are the days when the players used to get sold based on just a couple of past performances.
I’m coming home @mipaltan pic.twitter.com/PBDAxPfZD7
— Ishan Kishan (@ishankishan51) February 12, 2022
On the other hand, look at the players like Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sunder, Gaikwad or Padikkal. They all proved their worth without being capped. They all had the required talent and they showed it in Australia when they received their caps during a crisis situation. They performed when the team was down and out.
Hence, a really talented player will always be hungrier for performance than the money. They would know that the money will flow if they just focus on their game. Of course, most of the uncapped young cricketers will perish very soon. But the fact is that only the fittest survive in this cutthroat competition.
Dreams do come true, Dewald!

Furthermore, many young cricketers who have dreamt to being picked during IPL auctions have previously seen other young cricketers get picked for crores of rupees even though they haven’t played in a single international cricket game.
Most of these young talents strive hard, their parents spend every last penny of their savings in the quest of watching their kid succeed at the biggest stage that the Indian cricket board has to offer without getting picked in the Indian 15-man squad.
Let’s say the IPL does decide to put a cap on the U19 players that can’t make more than Rs. 1 crore. Will it be fair to them and their parents who have sacrificed practically their whole entire being just to see a couple of placards being raised on television when their son’s name gets called out by the auctioneer? Let’s not put a cap on the earning potential of a talented player only because he is uncapped.

This is not your cliché romance.
This love story is not all about roses and chocolates. We are talking about real love – real, competitive, happily-ever-after kinda love that comes in waves and turns your world upside down.
It got a bit much, didn’t it? Well, let’s get to the point.
Our favourite reality TV host Rannvijay and his wife Priyanka dished out some major Valentine’s Day goals this year, and we can’t help but wish for love just like theirs!
Done and dusted with the same old romantic gifts, Priyanka decided to do something different this year.
Instead of buying Rannvijay something that he might enjoy alone, she decided to surprise him with the LEGO Ford 150 Raptor Set.
Now, if you’re a Pickup Trucks fan, you know what the fuss is all about, right?
So, of course, we can’t blame Rannvijay when he spotted the gift and had a major nostalgic moment.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rannvijay (@rannvijaysingha)
Befuddled with excitement, Rannvijay couldn’t wait to unbox and start building away! His Ford 150 Raptor LEGO Build looked amazing.

But here’s what he didn’t realize, he and Priyanka were supposed to enjoy this gift together! Oops, does this still count as a great Valentine’s Day? Well, considering they can always build it together again, we absolutely think so!
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rannvijay (@rannvijaysingha)
Priyanka’s unique Valentine’s Day gift is an exhilarating idea. After all, who wouldn’t have a blast building what they Love with their favorite LEGO sets?!
I’m already heading to Amazon to find my pick from the awesome Adults Collection of LEGO sets, what about you?

Charu Sharma, a veteran TV presenter and cricket pundit, was called on Saturday to oversee the IPL 2022 major player auctions. Hugh Edmeades, the auctioneer, fell, forcing the midway change. The terrible situation occurred during the bidding process for Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga.

The attendees in the auction room were in a state of complete disbelief when Edmeades collapsed on the floor. He was taken to the hospital right afterwards and was said to be doing OK. It was agreed to rest the Englishman and get Sharma aboard after the lunch break as a preventive measure.
Watching the kind of professionalism with which Sharma managed the first day of the event and guided the flow of the auction without any preparation ahead of the event, fans who were watching the show on television or online were extremely impressed with him. Here’s how some of the viewers of the auction reacted to his brilliance:

— Berlin (@BerlinRidler) February 12, 2022Coming in at such a quick notice and never looked unprepared...fine job #CharuSharma .
— movieman (@movieman777) February 12, 2022Upon announcing the end of the first day, Sharma even received a round of applause from all the 10 IPL franchises who were present in the room, along with the staff members, administrators and medical practitioners who were there representing the India Premier League as an organisation.
Charu Sharma, the Director of the Pro Kabaddi League, is a well-known name in the sphere of sports commentary and television presentation. He has hosted award presentations and business events in addition to being a quizmaster on various television series. He rose to prominence during the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup when he teamed up with veteran actress Mandira Bedi to conduct the pre-, mid-, and post-match debates.
Sharma has previously worked in the IPL as an administrator. He was named CEO of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament's debut season in 2008. According to reports, he was forced to resign due to the team's poor performance. Sharma was said to have quit on his own at the time, but he later denied this, claiming that he was fired by then-team owner Vijay Mallya.
The league later shared an update on the health situation of the original auctioneer Edmeades and clarified the reason why he suddenly fell on the floor. According to a post from the official Twitter handle of the IPL, the Englishman had a sudden dip in his blood pressure causing him to collapse. He was quickly looked after and was brought back to stability within a couple of hours.

Filmmaker Shakun Batra’s keenly anticipated Gehraiyaan starring Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa released recently on OTT.
Upon its release, the film received polarised reviews from the critics as well as the audience. While some are hailing Shakun Batra by calling it a masterpiece, others are simply not impressed by the film.
© Dharma Productions
And it seems Kangana Ranaut is in the latter category. The actress recently took to Instagram and posted a story where she shared a yesteryear song Chandsi Mehbooba Ho Meri from Vijay Bhatt’s 1965 film Himalay Ki God Mein starring Manoj Kumar and Mala Sinha.
Sharing the short clip, Kangana took an indirect dig at Gehraiyaan comparing it to pornography and asking the makers to not sell trash in the name of “urban movies”. She also stated that she is a millennial herself but she prefers the old school romantic cinema more than what is being served these days.
She wrote, “I am also a millennial but I identify and understand this kind of romance… in the name of millennial/new age/urban movies don’t sell trash pls… bad movies are bad movies no amount of skin show or pornography can save it… it’s a basic fact koi gehraiyaan waali baat nahin hai”. Noticeably, she followed it up with a wink emoji.

Take a look at the screenshot of her story and the song she shared below:

Earlier, at a press conference of her upcoming reality show Lock Upp, Kangana got into a verbal spat with a journalist and accused her of being planted by Deepika Padukone’s PR.
It so happened that the journalist had asked Kangana about how women are often judged for their choice of clothes and cited how recently Deepika was shamed by an influencer for her ‘hemlines and necklines’ during the Gehraiyaan promotions .
© Kangana Ranaut Instagram
Responding to it, Kangana said, “Look, I am here to defend those who can’t defend themselves. Alright? She can defend herself. She has the privilege, the platform and I can’t promote her film here. Sit down.”
We wonder what Deepika has to say on Kangana's continuous obsession with her.
