    It's really happening, guys! 

    After witnessing the Iron Mans, Spider-Mans, countless Batmans, and other such superheroes of the West, we're finally bringing back our own superhero, who made our childhoods so much better so long back.
    Yep! It's Shaktimaan!

    Just thinking about him brings back memories of the entire Shaktimaan era when there'd be stickers of him in every stationery shop and even kids who'd dress up in his iconic costume on their birthdays in school.

    Yeah, that was the India I grew up in, where there were always superheroes like Batman and Superman, but so were heroes like Shaktimaan.
    As you know, Sony just announced that there will be a movie trilogy based on Mukesh Khanna's iconic portrayal of Shaktimaan.

    The announcement was made by Sony, which shared a 59-second teaser of the superhero while sharing that the trilogy will be in collaboration with Mukesh Khanna’s production house Bheeshm International.

    The trailer goes like this, "As darkness and evil prevail over humanity, it's time for him to return. India's most popular and loved hero, superhero, people's hero, Shaktimaan!"

    Soon after the announcement was made, it was but natural that everyone lost their calm and could not feel anything but the excitement on the destined return of Shaktimaan, a character that was an integral part of growing up.
    However, while the teaser was in fact a big promise, there was no revelation on who was going to play it, with Mukesh possibly too old to embrace that character.
    Reports have been rife that one top Bollywood star would be taking up the iconic red costume in order to represent India's greatest superhero.
    So, who is it?
    Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor?
    Well, it looks like we might have known who might be playing Shaktimaan all along. Or at least a certain number of people may have been given that hint already.
    That's right!
    It appears the announcement of which actor would be playing Shaktimaan in a trilogy had already been made all the way back in 2018.
    As per a Reddit post, it was Comic-Con India who had made the announcement through their Twitter page long ago, something that might have just been taken as a joke.
    So, who did they announce as Shaktimaan? Well, it was indeed a Bollywood star who already has some big franchises to his name.
    A Bollywood actor who is already a supercop in the cop universe is said to be similar to Marvel's Avengers.
    The actor is none other than Ranveer Singh!

    That's right! Comic-Con India, in an announcement in 2018 said that Ranveer had signed a three-movie deal to become the next Shaktimaan! Here's the tweet!

    Exciting, right?

    I mean, honestly, he's young, full of energy, and one actor who always puts his best foot forward. While there may be critics out there, I think one that we can all agree on, is that Ranveer's versatility combined with his exceptional connection with the audiences might play a big role in Shaktimaan returning as an icon.
    While there have obviously been no confirmations of the cast, I think Ranveer would be an apt fit.

    Shakun Batra's Gehraiyaan, featuring Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Dhairya Karwa, was released recently on Amazon Prime Video. The film, which talks about inherited trauma and infidelity, is receiving mixed response from viewers. While not everyone connected with the plot or subject of Gehraiyaan, everyone must agree that the film has been shot beautifully.

    The movie has been shot at several gorgeous locations, however, the seaside villa, where the characters make frequent trips, is grabbing everyone's attention. Owned by Ananya’s character Tia, the 'Alibaug' property plays an important role in the plot. Well, the Alibaug villa shown in the Shakun Batra-directed film is actually a boutique hotel in Goa named Ahilya By The Sea.

    You know how when Money Heist was released, all we could think of (apart from just how brilliant the show was) was who would be best suited to play the roles of those Spanish characters if it were to be remade here?
    Some guessed Hrithik Roshan, others wondered if Aamir Khan would do justice to the role of the Professor. And while speculations kept being made, there was no sign of anyone donning the role anytime soon.

    That was up until the sixth season of Naagin released and fans noticed a striking similarity between Manjit Joura’s role in the show and compared it to the iconic ‘Professor’ from Money Heist.

    It was a great sight as veteran auctioneer Hugh Edmeades, who had suffered a massive health scare on the Day 1 of the auction, returned to conduct the final hour of the bidding.
    As the auction neared its end, veteran TV presenter Charu Sharma, who was called in to replace Edmeades after the unfortunate incident, surprised everyone in the room as he welcomed Edmeades to the bidding arena to finish the job he had started the previous morning.
    Mr. Hugh Edmeades, the IPL Auctioneer, had an unfortunate fall due to Postural Hypotension during the IPL Auction this afternoon.

    The Indian broadcaster also thanked the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council for entrusting him with such a huge responsibility. Charu also praised the medical team deployed at the venue for tackling the situation and ensuring Edmeades' well-being.
    He said: “First and foremost, I’ve always been more concerned about the health and well-being of the gentleman who suffered a very unfortunate medical emergency here – Hugh Edmeades. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of the medical staff here at the facility and of course his own determination, he is well.”

    As the British auctioneer made his way to the bidding hall, one whole atmosphere inside the room changed completely. Watching him walking into the bidding hall, one could sense the happiness on each and every individual's face as they gave him a standing ovation and welcomed him with a huge round of applause.

    Edmeades, who had presided over 2700 auctions across the globe, had collapsed and fell on the ground, leaving everyone in the room in utter shock. This horrific incident occurred during the bidding process of Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga.
    Although he was doing fine after receiving medical attention, he had decided not to resume action on the second afternoon.

    “I am also thankful for Charu (Sharma) to step on such short notice to take over the batting. The show must go on. I hope to see you later on but in the meantime it's good luck to you for the bidding today,” he added.

    Nobody expected him to return to take over the auction duties, hence when he did it brought a huge smile on everybody’s faces. The supporters thanked the IPL Governing Council for showing a wonderful gesture and allowing the Englishman to finish the auction which he had begun.
    This gesture reminded many people of the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly’s last international match where MS Dhoni had asked him to lead the side for one last time before ending his career. It was a gesture that many of us still fondly remember.

    Yes, you read that right! Reportedly, Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn was the first choice to play the lead role in the Kanchana remake. For the unversed, actor Tusshar Kapoor was one of the producers of Laxmii. Back in 2013, he had reportedly confirmed to a tabloid, "Yes, Ajay Devgn will lead the cast of Kanchana though it's been quite difficult to get his dates. We will go on floors in August 2014".
    According to a Bollywood Hungama report, later in July 2014, there were speculations that Devgn walked out of the remake as he was not comfortable wearing a saree and make-up for the crucial climax scene.

    While promoting Singham Returns in August 2014, Devgn had said, "As of now I am. They are working on the script. Once Singham Returns releases, I will be hearing their script". However, he ultimately chose not to do the film, and Akshay was later signed in 2018. 
    Tusshar recently released his book named Bachelor Dad: My Journey To Fatherhood And More which majorly revolves around his journey of being a single father. However, he has reportedly also talked about his professional journey in the book. He has mentioned his decision of turning producer with the Kanchana remake back in 2013 along with a friend (Shabinaa Khan). However, he hasn't revealed the lead actor's name but we know who he is.

    How do you choose your face mask?
    Is it about style, comfort or safety? There are so many things to consider when buying a face mask. For us, it’s always about protection first and foremost.
    Our tryst with masks started with the inevitable N95, as tensions dropped, we adjusted to the “new normal”, out were the N95s and in came the cotton masks – a stylish alternative but are they as effective in stopping transmission?
    With the looming third wave, new variants and new guidelines, we decided it’s time for a refresher course in picking the right mask!
    New Variants, New Mask ChoicesConsidering the global guidelines and statements coming from scientists and doctors, it’s time to discard our cloth masks for the more practical and protective N95 or FFP2 S masks.
    N95 respirators are personal protective equipment that protects the wearer from airborne particles and aerosols from entering the respiratory system.
    The N95/FFP2 S ranks as a high barrier to transmission of flu, infection, and inevitable air-borne viruses. Rigorously tested for several transmission conditions, N95/FFP2 S masks usually use five layers with electrostatically charged melt-blown filters that provide adequate protection from airborne particulates aerosols as small as 0.3 micron.
    Studies from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) have found that a surgical mask blocked 59% of respiratory aerosols from a cough, whereas a three-layer cotton mask blocked 51% of these aerosols, compared to an N95 mask which blocked up to 95% of the aerosols.
    This means that it has the power to filter out most bacterial, viral and particulate aerosols. Such masks are designed to give the optimum fit which means leakage from the side of the mask is also minimized.
    Masks with valves allow air to leave the mask without filtering it – which means that the virus can spread from an infected (even asymptomatic) person to others. So, for the safety of others it is better to use a mask without a valve.

    (Manav Kaul has the heart of a free-spirited wanderer, and he’s utterly unapologetic about it. He believes that in order to love others, one must first learn to love themselves, even if it is a tad selfishly.  For MensXP’s February Cover, we caught  up with the star of Netflix’s The Fame Game to discuss his views on all things love.) 
    Here is a man who likes to live and love on his own terms. Manav Kaul is a polymath who has eked out an unconventional career in the Indian film industry for himself - having debuted commercially with 2003’s Jajantram Mamantram to now playing Manish Khanna in Netflix’s The Fame Game alongside Bollywood’s evergreen star, Madhuri Dixit. 
    Where others get overwhelmed by the pressures that come with being a man of the arts, Manav coolly goes on about his craft, never once abandoning the desire to experiment, all the while exploring the uncharted depths of a man's feelings in order to truly imbibe his characters. 
    Manav’s treasure chest of emotions come from an array of struggles and personal experiences as a man, especially the romantic ones, which he graciously allowed us to comb through as we played with him a game of ADE - Agree. Disagree. Explain. The premise was simple, we posited a few statements to him, and he simply had to tell us if he agreed or disagreed with them, subsequently explaining his stance as well.

    Netflix’s Fame Game was an experience of a lifetime for Manav Kaul. 
    MK: “For me, acting has always been a therapeutic experience, and everytime it would make me feel relaxed; like doing a 10-kilometre run or something. When I started understanding this whole idea behind Manish Khanna and a successful person’s loneliness, I started to fall in love with this character. I remember texting Sri Rao late night, discussing the many layers that Manish’s character had, and how with each scene I was seemingly touching something new. On the face of it, initially, I knew he was a Bollywood star kind of in love with Anamika Anand, but the moment I started performing the role was when I realised that he was one of the most complex characters I’ve played. In fact when I finished the entire series, I started missing Manish Khanna a lot.”

    Sexual Chemistry is unimportant if you love someone.

    MK: “I disagree. The thing is, compassion is very important too, especially if you’re in a long-term relationship. Being an amazing friend to your partner is the best thing that you can do - You tend to love spending time with them, enjoy getting up together in the morning and so on. But sometimes you get over the idea of being sexual with each other, which is normal (as the novelty wears off). *** or Sexual Chemistry has to be discovered and rediscovered, and nowadays there are several mediums to do so as well. You can rediscover yourself and your partner again, and there are a thousand ways to find the spark. But I believe it is an important part of a relationship for most people. Don’t  you think?”
    Cheating in a relationship is not a big deal. 
    MK: “That is controversial *breaks into peals of laughter*. Because I come from a small town, back in my younger days there used to be an adrishya varmala (invisible garland) in my mind whenever I’d meet a girl, thinking every girl I met was ‘the one’ for me. I ruined a lot of relationships because of that desperation. There was a film I’d seen long back, where an old couple was celebrating the wife’s 50th birthday together along a beach. She had confessed to her husband about sleeping with his best friend 20 years prior at a farmhouse party, as the secret had been eating her from inside. The husband replied that he had been aware of it all along leaving the woman shocked, as she had harboured guilt over that incident for over several years now. The husband then replied, ‘But you know I’ve never seen you that happy, how can I deny that happiness? You came back to me and I got happy because of your happiness’. That particular scene changed my perception, and I started questioning why cheating or sleeping with someone else is so damn taboo or important that you ruin an entire the entire life time spent in a relationship.”
    Manav Kaul doesn’t believe in true love. 
    MK: “I don’t think there’s a ‘one true love’. I think you discover in retrospect, when you look back at life, the few people who were with you through all your ups and downs. That in my opinion is love. There’s so much going on in people’s lives, especially in a city like Bombay, where you can’t predict anything. As we change, so does everyone else as well, and if despite all these fluctuations people still stick around for a long time, where you have the comfort to pick up the phone and call them at any given point, then that is what true love is.”

    Fame Game’s Manish Khanna was an easy character to play. 

    MK: “It wasn’t easy at all. At all! Because first of all I don’t understand the world that he belongs to. Manish is a huge star living in a huge mansion, when he goes out there are people screaming, almost  like a Bollywood superstar. In a way, I don’t entirely understand that despite vicariously experiencing it through theatre. I have met people after my plays who tell me that they’re crazy about my writing, so I have felt that kind of stardom in pockets. But the kind of stardom that Shahrukh possesses, and Shahrukh is the star, that is what Manish Khanna is. I may not necessarily understand that specific world, but luckily do totally get the inner world of Manish. So I had to rely more on the psyche of a person who understood that. So yeah, it was tough to crack but somehow I managed.
    Male Friendships Are Important For A Man Even When They're In A Relationship.
    MK:  “I agree. When a friend of yours gets into a relationship you should give space to that person because you want that person to get more comfortable with their partner, knowing eventually that they would come around. One thing that is true is that there’s nothing like Male bonding. Male friendships are very important. For example, I love bike trips with my two friends, Kumud and Sam. We have done so many outings together - From Bombay to Leh and back, as well as several other bike trips to Uttarakhand and Ratnagiri as well. You stick to your comfort zones as far as these friendships are concerned, you can be humorous and you can be ‘blah’ in these equations without any judgement. So I definitely understand that bond.”
    Getting back with my ex-girlfriend is a good idea. 
    MK: *laughs* “I think all your exes after a certain time can become beautiful friends. Because what happens is that you end up going through a lot together. But you have to give it time, for time is a beautiful thing, it heals. Exes eventually can become good because they remind you of your youth, and the time you spent together.”

    MK: “Till 30, men don’t even know who they are. After they hit 30 they start understanding themselves better. You understand it very late in your life. So by this time you’ve already built up so many layers of shells around yourself. All the ridiculous notions and ideals that we grew up with left us confused to an extent that when we met a girl for the first time, we didn’t even know what to expect - we have no clue as to what she would want or what we want either.” 
    Singledom is underrated.
    MK: *laughs* “This is the correct question for me. I think I like travelling a lot. I understood that late in my life - In the span of one life I want to be everywhere on this planet. And then I realised that I liked writing and acting a lot as well. So, anything that messes with these three things - travelling, acting and writing - I tend not to like it. In this fictional world that I created for myself, where I live, I don’t want to be disturbed. I’ve realised that I like being single, I like to be single so I can be flowing everywhere. I don’t like responsibilities. Right now I can randomly go anywhere, take whatever decisions I want without a problem.  I don’t want someone else to be there with me taking on that ride all because I want that ride. I have been given one life and I want to squeeze all the experiences and essence from it, that’s how I want to live. And I find that could be a selfish trait for someone else. So, because I am selfish, and have no qualms about it,  I prefer being single.”

    Not just the first trailer, there is also a TV spot that has been released and features some new footage.

    The visually appealing trailer promises the trippiest experience yet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Besides the usual Doctor Strange shenanigans, we finally get our first glimpse at X-Men’s Professor X played by Sir Patrick Stewart.

    This is not all, the trailer also shows different variants of Doctor Strange. The Sinister Supreme we already saw in the teaser, here we also get to see Defender Strange as well as Zombie or Demon Strange.

    However, the biggest takeaway from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer is the presence of a mysterious figure that is seen fighting Scarlet Witch.

    The figure is glowing up like Captain Marvel which means it could be Monica Rambeau who got her superpowers in WandaVision.

    However, there are several fans who are convinced that it is our first look at an Iron Man variant called Superior Iron Man played by Tom Cruise.

    A total of 204 players were sold at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction in Bengaluru during the two-day spectacle. 
    Wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan bagged the biggest deal as he returned to the five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians for a whopping Rs 15.25 crore. However, the biggest takeaway from the two-day auction was that none of the ten teams showed any interest to place a bid for Suresh Raina. 
    Known as Mr IPL, the Chennai Super Kings stalwart had kept his base price at Rs 2 crore but he failed to attract any bid at the auction table. Fans were left disappointed when his name was missing from the accelerated auction list.
    Sad that not a single team picked Mr. IPL Suresh Raina who has had an extraordinary performance in most IPL tournaments. Someone who has scored 400 runs in most IPLs till now. Many today are heartbroken to see him go unsold.

    Raina was one of the most consistent batters in the IPL, scoring over 400 runs in almost every season. He has been with CSK since the inception of the tournament. 
    Raina has played 205 IPL games and scored 4,042 runs at an average of 32.51. His strike rate was close to 137 and apart from being a live wire on the field, Raina was also a handy off-spinner.

    I love the internet. Not just because it is the very medium working on which I earn enough money to pay my bills, but also because it has given me what no other person in my life was able to give to - unlimited access. 
    And while I (and millions of others) have been enjoying that liberty at leisure, there are a select few who’ve been busy misusing it. How, you ask? By criticizing and calling out everything, even when it’s not problematic. 
    And one of the most recent examples of such unsolicited trolling was when people came after actress Alia Bhatt for ‘talking to herself’ in a lift.

    A video that was posted by Viral Bhayani on Instagram has now gone viral for all the wrong reasons. 
    Receiving a lot of hate and spiteful comments, Alia Bhatt was trolled for reasons that were anything but justified.
    The 10-second long video shows Alia Bhatt standing in the back of a lift, where she seems to be humming and swaying to a song in her head, only to break out of that trance and say ‘oh yeah’, which may have been because she remembered something out of the blue.
