Ameesha Patel played a rich, lively girl in her debut film Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai opposite another debutant Hrithik Roshan  who was a star kid and the son of the director of the film, Rakesh Roshan.
She recently recalled her image in the media when she first started out in Bollywood.
    © Filmkraft Productions Pvt. Ltd.
She opened up about the comparisons with her co-star at the time and how she was labelled a brat by the media at the time.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, she said, “I was portrayed as arrogant and snobbish and this typical south Bombay rich brat. Because on the sets, I would not indulge in idle gossip and bitching about people or talking them down. Someone else has a hit, I would always be happy that he or she has done a great job.”

She further said that instead of indulging in gossip on the sets, she used to spend her free time reading books which ultimately earned her the reputation of being a spoilt brat.

“I used to read a book. I am a bookworm. I can read a book in three days. So I used to get told that Ameesha ji is very arrogant, pata nahi apne aap ko kya samajhti hai (Don’t know what she thinks of herself),” she said.

She also said that there was a comparison between her and her co-star Hrithik on little things like how they reached the sets. Talking about what the media reported about her, she added, “Just because she is from a big khandaan, on the first day of the shoot she came driving in a Mercedes.”

    © Filmkraft Productions Pvt. Ltd
“They used to make fun that Hrithik came in a Maruti, Ameesha came in a Mercedes. But there was nothing to show off. That was my upbringing, my hobby. I was never brought up to talk bad or ill about anyone,” she further added.

We don’t know about a bratty image, but she was one of the most popular actresses at the time who gave many hits in her initial years. If not being a gossipmonger on the sets earns you the label of being a ‘brat’, we would gladly take it.

After a sabbatical, Ameesha would soon be seen in the sequel of her blockbuster film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha which is currently shooting for.

Virat Kohli stepped down as Test captain a day after India lost the three-match Test series in South Africa 1-2. Kohli’s decision shocked everyone including fans and cricket experts across the globe.
The former India skipper had relinquished T20I captaincy just before the T20 World Cup last year and India failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the marquee tournament.
Together as one we set out to achieve our goal.Unfortunately we fell short and no one is more disappointed than us as a side. The support from all of you has been fantastic and we are grateful for it all.We will aim to come back stronger and put our best foot forward. Also, the 33-year-old was removed as the captain from the 50-over format and the role was given to his deputy Rohit.

While the Indian cricket board has made their intentions clear as to who will take Indian cricket forward in the limited-overs format, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to reveal who will be Kohli’s successor in red-ball cricket.
While many names are doing the rounds on social media including the likes of Rohit, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin, some are even wondering whether India will go the Australian way and make a pacer as the captain.

During the recently-concluded South Africa series, India’s premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah had already said that he is ready to captain if a chance comes his way.
His partner Mohammed Shami is the latest Test player to throw his name in the race to become India’s next captain in the longest format of the game.
"I am not thinking too much about captaincy at the moment. I am ready for whatever responsibility is given to me. To be honest, who doesn't want to captain the India team but it is not the only thing and I am looking to contribute in whichever manner possible for the team," Shami told India.com.
After Shami too showed interest in Test captaincy, Rohit Sharma’s fans mocked the pacer and said if someone else is there who wants to be in the race to become the captain, they too can come forward.
After KL Rahul,Bumrah, now Shami told about Team India Captaincy in Test Cricket.

Rohit Sharma may be thinking : Aur kaun kaun hai race mein aa jao !!

    — Aman Pandey (@AmanPan81387002) January 27, 2022 India’s next Test match is against Sri Lanka, starting February 25.
There is still time for the board to decide the next Test captain and it will be good that the BCCI announces the name as soon as possible to end this unnecessary debate once and for all.

Rafael Nadal defeated Matteo Berrettini in four sets to seal a place in the summit clash of the Australian Open on Friday.
Nadal won the first two sets comfortably 6-3, 6-2 but just as the Spanish star thought the match was in his grip, Berrettini came roaring back to take the third set 6-3.
Nadal, who is in search of his 21st Grand Slam, made sure that the match doesn’t go to a fifth set as he won the fourth set to win the Australian Open men’s singles semi-final and reach the 29th Grand Slam final of his illustrious career.

After a gruelling contest against Berrettini, Nadal broke down at the sideline.
It was an emotional moment for the World Number five as he was not even sure of playing competitive tennis after suffering a foot injury that kept him away from the court for months.
“A month and a half ago I didn’t know if I would be able to play tennis,” the Spaniard said in his post-match interview. “So, it doesn’t matter, I just wanted to enjoy it and try my best,” he added.

    — rdelrio (@rdelrio17) January 28, 2022 Nadal, along with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, has won 20 Grand Slam titles, so far, in his career. If he manages to lift the Australian Open title on Sunday, he will become the most successful tennis player in the world.
In the summit clash in Melbourne, Nadal will take on the winner of the second semi-final between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev.
A win on Sunday will make Nadal only the second player in tennis’ Open Era after the world number one Djokovic, who was deported out of Australia due to his vaccination status, to win all four major Grand Slam titles twice.
Nadal, who last won the Australian Open title in 2009, said he will treat the match on Sunday as just another match. He also added that he never thought he would be vying for the Australian Open title after 13 years.

    — #AusOpen (@AustralianOpen) January 28, 2022 “For me, it’s all about the Australian Open, more than anything else,” said Nadal. “It’s just an amazing event. I feel very lucky that I won once (here) in my career, 2009, but I never thought about another chance in 2022, so I’ll just try to enjoy the victory today and then after tomorrow I’ll prepare my best,” Nadal said after his semi-final victory.

India’s premier domestic tournament Ranji Trophy, which was cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, will be conducted in two phases, the BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced on Friday.
The decision came as a huge relief for hundreds of players, match officials and ground staff, who were struggling to make ends meet due to lack of funds.

“The Board has decided to conduct the Ranji Trophy this season in two phases. In the first phase, we plan to complete all matches of the league stage while the knockouts will be held in June,” Shah said.

“My team is working closely to mitigate any kind of health risk caused by the pandemic, while at the same time ensuring a highly competitive red-ball cricket contest.

“Ranji Trophy is our most prestigious domestic competition, which has been providing Indian Cricket with an enviable talent pool every year. It is absolutely important that we take all necessary steps to safeguard the interest of this premier event.”

Originally the tournament was scheduled to start on January 13 but the BCCI had to postpone the biggest domestic competition indefinitely amid rising cases of the new Omicron variant in the country.

Last year, the tournament was cancelled altogether after the country was hit hard by the second wave of this coronavirus pandemic which took the lives of lakhs of people.
Before BCCI’s official announcement came, some reports had suggested that the competition would witness the same fate this year as well, with the board prioritising its cash-cow Indian Premier League (IPL) over first-class cricket.
From fans to experts, everyone came hard at the BCCI and urged them to conduct Ranji Trophy in order to safeguard the interest of the game in the country and those who are heavily dependent on this tournament for their survival.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, the former India head coach Ravi Shastri described Ranji Trophy as the “backbone of Indian cricket”  and made a strong appeal to conduct the tournament to stop our cricket from becoming “spineless”.

The Ranji Trophy is the backbone of Indian cricket. The moment you start ignoring it our cricket will be SPINELESS!
    — Ravi Shastri (@RaviShastriOfc) January 28, 2022
“The Ranji Trophy is the backbone of Indian cricket. The moment you start ignoring it our cricket will be SPINELESS!” tweeted Shastri.
And when the BCCI announced that it had decided to conduct the tournament in two phases, with the league stage starting next month and the knockout stage taking place after the IPL, fans and pundits praised the board for their decision.

There were a lot of fans who linked the BCCI’s announcement with Shastri’s tweet which he had put out roughly an hour ago. They argued that it was Shastri’s tweet that pushed the BCCI to hold the competition.

Recently it was revealed that filmmaker Shakun Batra had hired Intimacy Director, Dar Gai to supervise the potentially nude scenes in his upcoming film Gehraiyaan.
Talking about hiring an intimacy director, Shakun had said, “We were treating intimacy like a story and we want to see it like a character. So, the prep and the detailing was required. It was important we have an intimacy director. And Dar Gai has contributed a lot to the film. It is important to give her the same respect as we give to all HODs.”
Now, another filmmaker is following suit.
According to Bollywood Hungama, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has hired an intimacy director for his maiden web series Heeramandi that will stream on Netflix.
    © Instagram/Netlfix
A source told the website, “There are quite a few intimate scenes in Heeramandi. Bhansali and Netflix have decided to bring in a special female director to oversee the love-making scenes.”

The source further added that post the pandemic, no two co-stars are comfortable in getting physical with each other on-screen. Considering the risk involved, getting intimate on-screen will be a task for the actors and that’s where an intimacy director comes into the picture.
Heeramandi was officially announced last year.
In a statement, Bhansali said, “Heeramandi is an important milestone in my journey as a filmmaker. This is an epic, first of its kind series based on the courtesans of Lahore. It is an ambitious, grand and all-encompassing series; therefore I am nervous yet excited about making it. I am looking forward to my partnership with Netflix and bringing Heeramandi to audiences all over the world.”
He also told Variety, “It is a huge saga about the courtesans of Lahore, it is something I was living with for 14 years. It’s very vast and ambitious.”

While the star cast of the show hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, it has been reported that Bhansali will reunite with Manisha Koirala who starred in his debut directorial Khamoshi: The Musical back in 1996.

Besides Manisha Koirala, the show will also reportedly star Sonakshi Sinha and Aditi Rao Hydari.

The Indian cricket team is going through one of its most challenging periods, which began in October last year with the early ouster from the T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE, followed by Virat Kohli and the whole debacle that his captaincy issue was. The latest additions to the Men in Blue’s misery are the Test and ODI series setbacks against an understaffed South African side.
Now with Kohli not being the leader of the squad and some of the biggest players of the team sidelined with injuries, the team's combination has been jeopardised, leaving the new head coach Rahul Dravid in a bit of a pickle.
    View this post on Instagram
One of the more urgent duties for Dravid is to act quickly and assist the Indian cricket team in sailing through the tough turbulences ahead and focus on the two limited-overs World Cups on the horizon: the T20 World Cup in 2022 and the ODI World Cup in 2023.
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri recognises that Indian cricket is in a phase of change, and believes that Dravid and the management must pick the proper players to lead the team ahead in the next four to five years. In order to smoothen the transition, he believes India should combine youth and experience in the correct way and not remain with the same group for too long.
    View this post on Instagram
In a conversation with former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar, Ravi explained why the next 8-10 months will be crucial for Dravid as the leader of the supporting staff. While Shastri suggests that it is important for the team to look at young players with enough potential to give value to the team for the next half a decade or so, he also feels that the presence of some of the most seasoned and experienced players must also be maintained within the dressing room.
“Sometimes change is needed if you aim for the future. This is the time. They need to look for youth in the next six months, need to be quick. If you stick with the same for too long a period then the adjustment will be very difficult,” Shastri said in the interaction with Akhtar.

n the run-up to the T20 World Cup in Australia in October, India has a jam-packed 2022 schedule. The side will then host Sri Lanka before facing the West Indies in a three-match ODI and T20I series at home.
