Just one day ahead of Republic day, as people get ready to bring in the 73rd Republic Day, they might have been rubbed the wrong way after the big e-commerce giant Amazon came up with tri-color products in the spirit of Republic Day and instead faced severe backlash for it.
#BoycottAmazon trends on Twitter as of now, after the e-commerce platform released a variety of merchandise with things like the National Flag and our emblem printed on it. And considering this merchandise went from keychains to shoes to even toilet seat covers, a lot of people lost their sense of humor at its sight.

Republic Day in our country marks a rather special and proud moment for every Indian, one where we finally became an independent and sovereign nation. Perhaps, that is why this day and everything to do with it, holds a sentimental value to the people, who ended up getting very offended with Amazon.
Showing their anger on social media, several Twitter users also pointed out that Amazon’s choice to sell products with the national flag printed on it went against the Flag Code Of India, 2002.
This is not First time that Amazon insulting Indian Flag...

— Nilla Kumar (@kumar_nilla) January 25, 2022As per the code, “The flag shall not be used as a portion of costume or uniform of any description. It shall not be embroidered or printed upon cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins or boxes." Pointing the same out, Amazon received a lot of ire from social media users who immediately started using hashtags like #Amazon_Insults_National_Flag and #Amazoninsultsnationalflag.

— Yuvraj Singh Fan Club (@club_yuvraj) January 25, 2022Another one wrote, “Yes...boycott these products..don't insult our national flag..@amazonIN take down these products immediately.. please respect national flag.” As of yet Amazon hasn’t taken down any of these products as the sale ahead of the 73rd Republic Day on January 26 is still going on.
They are yet to make a statement on the matter.
