Ever since India suffered a humiliating ODI series whitewash, most of us are finding it hard to wrap our head around the fact that the team, which was described by many as the favourites, could not even present any challenge (barring the third ODI) to a relatively inexperienced South Africa squad.
What’s more astonishing is the fact that not many people are talking about the team’s horrendous performance, despite being deeply hurt by the result.
View this post on InstagramIt’s not very often that we see an Indian outfit getting completely outplayed in a bi-lateral limited-overs series. We are not habitual of getting beaten so comprehensively no matter which format we play.
Obviously, it has happened in one game but the same thing to continue throughout the series is very rare. What’s more rare is that we are not a side that suffers a series clean sweep.
To put into context, since the inception of ODI cricket, we have suffered only five whitewashes.
View this post on InstagramPeople might not be reacting too much but deep down we all know they are disappointed.
The reason why we can say that with utmost surety is because of the passion with which the Indian audience follows the game. But still, for some reason, people don’t seem to be that bothered about this humiliating loss.
© Reuters
Most of us deep down know that had these set of players performed in the same manner during Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli’s tenure, all hell would have broken loose, with fans and experts criticising them left, right and centre.
There would have been tons of posts on social media where everybody would have blamed the captain-coach duo for the team’s miserable performance and would have raised questions on their leadership qualities.
Some would have even demanded their resignations.
View this post on Instagram
Not just that, by now both of them would have faced personal attacks on the internet.
People would have flooded the social networking sites with hundreds of memes making fun of Shastri’s drinking habits, while Kohli would have been subjected to all sorts of online hatred.
It’s not a mere assumption, we have seen both of them getting treated like this online on many occasions in the past.

Don’t get me wrong, I am against all kinds of trolling. My intention is not to encourage people to go and target Dravid and stand-in skipper, KL Rahul, for the side’s disappointing series loss and troll them.
All I am trying to understand is why people aren’t that concerned about these losses or if they are, why aren’t they talking about it.
View this post on InstagramIt’s not only me, there are several people on the internet who are finding it hard to digest this silence. They also want to know why more people aren’t holding this team accountable for their poor performance and aren’t asking them enough questions.
Dravid’s been handed a reputation risk. Unless he’s sure he has the freedom, and selections he needs, he should cut his losses & let Ganguly deal with the wreck. A Rahul Dravid should never be a mere pawn in other people’s power games.
— Shekhar Gupta (@ShekharGupta) January 23, 2022agree Till now Dravid has been poor. There has been some favouritism too
— Cricdeep (@cricdeeps) January 19, 2022Not blaming dravid but Shastri coach hota to overconfident vale bhut sare articles aate
Will that come for dravid https://t.co/HCOVKOvvdH
— . (@finehaihum) January 23, 2022People would have trolled Ravi Shastri if he was the coach now...Why aren't people trolling Rahul dravid?
Human psychology: Easy to troll the backbencher, not the front bench student/good body.
— Avs Sridhar (@AvsSridhar2) January 23, 2022If it was shastri all the bewda memes would have been floating till now, as simple as that Dravid isn't a coach material to International team
— Yashasvi (@girlwithwingss) January 21, 2022If an Indian team under Ravi Shastri had Ravi Ashwin batting at #7, all hell would've broken loose on this platform. I expect the same treatment to be given to Dravid today.
— Aaditya Narayan (@AadityaN_28) January 19, 2022agree Till now Dravid has been poor. There has been some favouritism too
— Cricdeep (@cricdeeps) January 19, 2022One possible reason why people are not being too critical of this side’s performance could be that KL Rahul was leading the ODI side for the first time while Dravid took charge in November last year and both were pretty new to their jobs.
First of all, Dravid is not new to the coaching role. He has been working in a, more or less, similar role for the last three years. As far as the Indian team is concerned, he has already spent nearly three months with the players.
© Twitter BCCI
Some fans believe that the reason why no one is criticising Dravid is because he has this ‘good boy’ image in Indian cricket and that’s why people are afraid of saying anything against him.
But unlike Dravid, both Kohli and Shastri were known for being the ‘spoilt brats’ hence people didn’t twice before coming hard at them.
© Twitter BCCI
It’s a long enough time to get a clear idea of how to manage various things inside the dressing room and how to come up with different game plans to give the side an advantage over the opposition.
But given how India performed, one could tell neither Dravid nor KL Rahul had any idea of what the team’s game plan was and what template they needed to follow. Had there been any other captain-coach pair, they would have been ripped to shreds by now.

Jr. NTR needs no introduction as the name is enough for people to know the lineage he brings with that name, and his loyal fan base is proof of his popularity. The superstar will next be seen in SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR with Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn. While his work is notable, an actor’s career is a mix of hits and misses. Here are five super hits which he rejected that went on to other actors:
1. DilReleased in 2003 and directed by V.V. Vinayak, this movie was a hit with Nithiin in the lead role. However the role was previously offered to Jr. NTR, who rejected it as he wasn’t too keen on playing the role of a student. Dil went on to be remade in Oriya as Premi No.1 (2004), in Kannada as Student, and in Tamil as Kuththu (2004).
2. AryaThis was a big one for superstar Allu Ajun, but if Jr. NTR had not said no to this, it might have not made it Arjun’s kitty. Allu Arjun became a big name with this movie which also won many awards for him.
3. BhadraThis movie was passed around for a while before it got Ravi Teja’s stamp on it. Reportedly, this was rejected by Jr. NTR and also by Allu Arjun. The big hit was later remade in Tamil as Saravana, with Silambarasan & Jyothika, and in Kannada as Gaja.
4. KickOne would wonder why the actor rejected this hit which went on to actor Ravi Teja. Apparently, Jr. NTR had some apprehensions after Surender Reddy's last two films, Ashok and Athidi didn't fare too well at the box office. The role was offered to Ravi Teja with Ileana D' Cruz. The film was remade in Tamil as Thillalangadi, in Hindi as Kick starring Salman Khan, and in Kannada as Super Ranga.
5. OopiriNot a lot of people know this but apparently Jr NTR refused this movie due to a particular scene which involved the character touching the feet of Nagarjuna , and the actor thought that it might not go well with his fans. However the makers later cited date issues as a reason for him refusing this project. The role was then taken over by actor Karthi and the film was a big success.
6. SrimanthuduThis one was a big project starring Mahesh Babu in the lead role but the role was initially offered to Jr. NTR , who couldn’t come on board for various reasons.

In the last few years, Bollywood has gone through some changes, and while it is more content-driven now, it's missed some of its old creative and brilliant spark!
2007 was one such year where almost anything that came out of Bollywood turned to gold at the box office.
Here are some of the awesome movies that come out in that golden year:
1. Welcome © Jio Cinema
This is one movie that almost everyone watches whenever it comes on TV.
Starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal, and Anil Kapoor, Welcome really was a laughter fest, and had iconic dialogues that get talked about even now.
The comedy gangster movie was also another example of the chemistry between Akshay and Katrina in their primes.
2. Chak De! India © Prime Video
One of Shah Rukh Khan's finest performances came in Chak De! India, with the movie, not only being a good entertaining film but a hugely inspirational one as well.
The story about the Indian women's hockey team shed light on the plight of women's sports in India, while also showcasing how important such films can be in encouraging people to pick up sports.
3. Jab We Met © Jio Cinema
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Jab We Met was really a breath of fresh air as it dealt with important factors like depression, regrets, betrayal, and how two people from different backgrounds fall in love with each other.
Moreover, the star cast of Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan proved to be an incredible pairing, with the movie and its songs really striking a chord with cinema lovers.
4. Taare Zameen Par © Netflix
Admit it! We all cried when the Tujhe Sab Hai Pata Meri Maa song played in the movie.
Taare Zameen Par was a movie about Ishaan, a kid who suffered from dyslexia but was misunderstood by his parents, teachers, and others.
However, Aamir Khan's character of a teacher, Ram, helps him overcome those obstacles and eventually, achieve his potential.
5. Namastey London © Prime Video
This was again a miracle of the pairing between Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, who showed just recently in Rohit Shetty's cop-universe film Sooryavanshi, how well they perform together.
Namastey London was a romantic comedy film which was originally based on the true story of Akshay's friend and starred Rishi Kapoor, Javed Sheikha, and Upen Patel.
6. Bhool Bhulaiyaa © T-Series
One of Akshay Kumar's finest films to date, Bhool Bhulaiyaa was crazy fun and explored the story of a woman who has an identity disorder.
The horror film proved to be a massive hit with the ensemble supporting cast striking a chord with fans.
It was sad to see that Akshay won't be reprising the role in the sequel Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which will have Kartik Aaryan instead.
7. Dhol © Prime Video
The 2000s were the golden years of director Priyadarshan, who knew how to make everyone laugh out loud.
Dhol starring Sharman Joshi, Tusshar Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, and Kunal Khemu, was another film that kept on giving.
In fact, it was so good that people still watch it whenever it comes on TV.

A holiday, like Republic Day, is the ideal time to catch up on the latest films in the theatres. Well, our filmmakers will totally agree to this. Being the first national holiday, Republic Day continues the New Year's celebratory spirit. While the theatres are currently closed in many states amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, there was a time when filmmakers used to book the Republic Day weekend in advance to release their films.
From Aamir Khan's Rang De Basanti to Hrithik Roshan starrer Agneepath, several superhit Bollywood films were released on the special occasion of Republic Day which resulted in an increase in the footfalls.
Below, let's take a look at the list of Bollywood films released during the Republic Day weekend and turned out to be huge hits at the box office:
Rang De Basanti View this post on Instagram
Directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra, Rang De Basanti was released in 2006 and broke all opening box office records in India. Upon release, the film received critical acclaim and became a rage among the youth. Headlined by Aamir Khan, the movie featured an ensemble cast consisting of Sharman Joshi, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor, Siddharth, British actress Alice Patten among others. Even after 16 years of its release, the film's music still owns a separate fan base.
Baby View this post on Instagram
Neeraj Pandey's spy thriller was released in 2015 during the Republic Day weekend and opened to generally positive reviews. Baby had tremendous growth over the weekend and turned out to be a big hit. Besides Akshay Kumar, the film also featured Taapsee Pannu, Rana Daggubati, Anupam Kher, Kay Kay Menon among others in pivotal roles. Following the film's success, a spin-off titled Naam Shabana was released in 2017 which revolved around Taapsee's character.
Agneepath View this post on Instagram
Produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and directed by Karan Malhotra, Hrithik Roshan-starrer Agneepath became a major commercial and critical success upon its release in 2012. Also featuring Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra, it was the remake of Amitabh Bachchan's Agneepath directed by Mukul S. Anand.
Raees View this post on Instagram
Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees released in 2017 and was among the biggest hits of the year. The Republic Day weekend benefitted the film directed by Rahul Dholakia. It marked the Bollywood debut of Pakistani actress Mahira Khan while Nawazudding Siddiqui too played a prominent part in the action crime drama. Since Raees, SRK hasn't yet delivered a hit film and his fans are now waiting for his next titled Pathan.
Race 2 View this post on Instagram
Featuring Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, and Jacqueline Fernandez, Race 2 is a sequel to the 2008 hit Race. Directed by Abbas-Mustan, Race 2 was released during the Republic Day weekend in 2013. The film opened to mixed reviews, however, was a hit at the box office.

In cricket, one of the unluckiest ways to be dismissed is a runout. It usually is a result of miscommunication between the striker and non-striker and in some cases, a brilliant effort by a fielder can lead to a batter being run out.
Over the years, we have seen several run-outs and while some of them have been spectacular some have been sheer comical.
West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell, considered one of the most dangerous players in T20 cricket, became the latest entrant in the list of batsmen who have been part of bizarre run-outs.
Azhar Ali is enjoying run out with Asad Shafiq and 9 others.#PAKvAUS #2ndTest pic.twitter.com/3kQZIXPYzn
— M. Haseeb Qureshi (@iHaseebQureshi) October 19, 2018
Here, we will take a look at some of the most bizarre scenes on a cricket field that led to a batsman being run out:
1. Andre Rusell The West Indies all-rounder was involved in, what many are claiming to be, the most freakish run-out in the history of the game.
Russell was representing the Minister Group Dhaka in Bangladesh Premier League, playing against Khulna Tigers.
In the 15th over of the innings, Russell played the ball on the off-side and called his partner Mahmudullah for a single. Mahedi Hasan, stationed at short third man, threw the ball at the striker's end but Mahmudullah was safe.
WHAT A BIZARRE RUN OUT!

— FanCode (@FanCode) January 21, 2022
However, the ball ricocheted off the stumps at the keeper's end and hit the other set of stumps at the non-striker's end, resulting in Russell's dismissal.
The on-field umpire, much like others, was confused by the turn of events and sent the decision to the TV umpire who found Russell short of his crease and the batter was given out.
2. Azhar AliIf we are talking about weird dismissals, it would be criminal to not talk about a Pakistani batter. Pakistan’s Azhar Ali features in this list.
You might have seen two batters stranded at the same end on many occasions but have you ever seen two players chatting in the middle of the pitch and getting run-out?
That was the case with Azhar Ali during a Test against Australia in 2018.
Ali had got a thick outside edge and he thought the ball had hit the boundary cushions and started to have a chat with his partner Asad Shafiq.
However, the ball had stopped just before the boundary rope and Mitchell Starc was alert enough to send the ball to Tim Paine who whipped the bails off and sent Azhar Ali packing.
After being run-out, Azhar Ali had a laugh about the whole incident and said his kids will have a laugh about it for years.
3. Adam ZampaAustralia leg-spinner Adam Zampa played a pivotal role in helping the Aussies lift the T20 World Cup trophy for the first time last year in the United Arab Emirates.
Zampa, however, was involved in one of the most bizarre run-outs that was caught on camera and it is something he would not want to relive.
Dwayne Bravo had smashed a full toss straight down the ground, the ball hit non-striker’s bat and went straight onto the nose of Zampa before going on to hit the stumps.
The end result was a bleeding nose for the bowler and Peter Nevill’s long walk back to the pavilion.
4. Inzamam-ul-Haq Former Pakistan captain was a prolific run-scorer for his country and the whole cricketing fraternity were aware of his batting prowess.
However, as good as a batter he was, his running between the wickets was more often than not was comical, to say the least.
© Reuters
The ex-Pakistan skipper was batting on 109 when he defended a ball straight back to Steve Harmison. The England pacer, in his follow-through, fielded the ball and threw the stumps down at the striker’s end.
Inzamam’s momentum after playing the defensive shot had taken him out of the crease and after checking with the TV umpires, he was given out.
5. Alastair CookThe former England skipper was known to put a price on his wicket and once he used to get his eye in, he was a hard nut to crack.
Cook was barely involved in run-out during his illustrious career. However, that was not the case when he was batting against India in Kolkata back in 2012.
Kevin Pietersen had flicked a Zaheer Khan delivery straight to Virat Kohli at short square leg and Kohli, sensing a run-out opportunity, threw the ball at the non-striker’s end.
Cook was outside his crease and took evasive action to avoid getting in the line of the throw, but the ball went crashing onto the stumps and the England skipper missed his double ton by 10 runs.

It’s undeniable that Malaika Arora is one of the popular faces of Bollywood with a huge fan base.
She started her modelling career at a very young age, after which she moved on to being a VJ and gradually entered Bollywood.
Malaika was in news for her separation with Arbaaz Khan and after they separated, she moved out and invested in an apartment for herself.
View this post on Instagram
Her house speaks a lot about her and is minimalistic and stylish just like contemporary fashion choices.
Her stylish residence looks out to the azure waters of the Arabian Sea and the views from her house are a visual treat after a hectic day at work.
She often shares a lot of pictures on her official Instagram handle and has shown us her favourite corners of the house.
Here’s a virtual tour of her home:
Grand Entrance: View this post on Instagram
The creamy marble finish walkway is one of the biggest highlights of her entrance and she decorates it according to the many festivals she celebrates with her friends and family.
In one of the pictures she shared on Instagram, she decorated her entrance with marigold flowers for Diwali. As you can see in the picture, her entrance leads us to her dining area and the seating space.
Dining Area: View this post on Instagram
The beautiful chandelier over the dining area adds to the beauty of the corner. The black and grey dining set is royal and classy.

Living & Entertainment Room: View this post on Instagram
It’s right adjacent to her dining area. She has again kept it very minimalistic and she has used contrasting colours.
Her TV area has a dark wooden colour palette and she has placed a beige coloured couch, which is minimalistic yet super stylish.

An All-White Bedroom:

Ivory and white colours dominate her bedroom area. In the pictures shared by her, we can also see a wooden bedside table, a beautifully carved ivory lamp, and a big lounge chair.
A Basic Kitchen: View this post on Instagram
By now, we have a fair idea that she believes in minimalistic styling and her kitchen is also very simple.
It’s again a mix of wooden and beige colours in the kitchen. All the basic appliances are there in the kitchen area but there’s nothing fancy about it.
She also has a balcony where she poses for many pictures for her Instagram.
Isn’t her house very basic and relatable?

Over the years, the Hindi film industry has churned out a number of patriotic films, some great, some watchable and some outright terrible (read: Bhuj: The Pride of India).
However, in recent years, the definition of patriotism has sort of changed in cinema and such films made today often go overboard and indulge in jingoism and chest-thumping.
While one of the most entertaining patriotic films remains Border, it is far from being a well-made one and takes a rather jingoistic approach.
So, this Republic Day, here are 7 Hindi films that go beyond jingoism and chest-thumping and depict patriotism in the truest sense:
1. Swades (2004) © Ashutosh Gowariker Productions
A personal favourite, Swades, I would say is perhaps the best patriotic film made in India.
The film doesn’t depict war or goes overboard with its praise for the country. It is about its people and the hope for a better tomorrow.
Swades tells us it’s okay to point out all that is wrong with your country and still be a proud Indian. The protagonist in Swades, Mohan Bhargav played by Shah Rukh Khan returns to India and decides to change the life of his village and its people.
Right from its songs, scenes, performances, to dialogues, Swades is truly a cult classic and a film that depicts nationalism like no other.
2. Rang De Basanti (2006) © UTV Motion Picture
“Zindagi jeene ke do hi tarike hote hai … ek jo ho raha hai hone do, bardaasht karte jao… ya phir zimmedari uthao usse badalne ki”. This dialogue from Rang De Basanti is my takeaway from the brilliant Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra directorial.
The film takes inspiration from Bhagat Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad’s fight for freedom struggle and portrays it in today’s scenario.
Such was the impact of the film that it inspired a real-life candlelight vigil at India gate.
3. Haqeeqat (1964) © Himalaya Films
Starring Dharmendra and Balraj Sahni, this 1964 Chetan Anand war epic is based on the Sino-Indian war of 1962. It is without a doubt the best war film made in India.
Haqeeqat is one of the few times when the impact of war on a common soldier was portrayed on-screen. If you haven’t seen it yet, this film is highly recommended.
4. Vijeta (1982) © Shashi Kapoor
A coming of age film about an Indian air force fighter pilot, Vijeta is criminally underrated and underseen.
Produced by Shashi Kapoor, directed by Govind Nihalani and starring Shashi’s son Kunal Kapoor, Vijeta is notable for aerial shots of the war sequences involving fighter jets.
It is truly one of its kind film made in Indian cinema and I would like to believe was some sort of inspiration behind Hrithik Roshan’s Lakshya.
5. Lakshya (2004) © Excel Entertainment
Directed by Farhan Akhtar, Lakshya is one of the most underrated war dramas made in Bollywood. Similar to Vijeta, Lakshya is a coming of age film against the backdrop of a war.
If you want to watch an accomplished war film sans any jingoism, Lakshya should be your pick.
6. Chak De India (2007) © Yash Raj Films
Touted to be the best sports-centric film made in India, Chak De India is about a man’s quest to not only redeem himself but also elevate the National Women’s Hockey team.
Over the years, the film has become a sort of pop culture phenomenon. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, the Shimit Amin directorial is one of the most inspiring films that instils a sense of nationalism like no other.
7. Shershaah (2021) © Dharma Productions
A biopic made on the life of Param Vir Chakra-awardee Captain Vikram Batra, Shershaah is one of the best biopics made in India.
It is one of the rare films made on the Indian Army that doesn’t believe in chest-thumping or jingoism.
Sidharth Malhotra delivered his career-best performance with his performance in the movie.

First dates are special but have high stakes too. It’s not alway what you do and the circumstances that don’t work in your favour (happens to all of us), but sometimes it’s the little things like picking the wrong place that can kill your chances to score a second date.
© iStock
While a dinner at an expensive restaurant or a coffee date might be too cliche for some people, make sure to not go too overboard to make it unique and one-of-a-kind because date ideas that might sound perfect in theory (or movies, damn you, SRK and your irresistible charm), these could actually end up in a disaster.
© iStock
Here are five places that sound romantic but are not good for a first date and why they could be an epic fail.
1. To The Movies © iStock
For two reasons, this is a bad date idea. First, you are not in high school. And, secondly, you don’t get to see each other, hear each other and know since you’d spend the time all staring at a screen in the dark.
2. A Sport Or Anything Adventurous © iStock
Ice skating, river rafting, camping or trekking with no network in phone, sure are fun and exciting but are also dangerous and not fit for the first date since it’s too soon for both of you to trust each other if anything goes wrong. Plus, on the first date, you hesitate to say no to anything spontaneous to look cool and not a wuss, which can make things uncomfortable even if one of you isn't up for anything.
3. A Stand-Up © iStock
Sure you could see what makes this person laugh and offends them but it would hardly give you any time to have a chat. What’s worse than taking a girl to a stand-up when you are meeting her for the first time? Sitting with her in the first rows. There are high chances you two would be picked up and roasted baaddd! While it could be fun, the smart thing is to play safe and save it for a later date.
4. Anything With Your/Their Friends © iStock
A group activity like bowling, video games at someone’s place, getting drinks at a bar with the squad is a really bad idea. It can put a lot of pressure on them to impress your friends and there can be expectations, judgments from either party even if they don’t say it out loud. Plus, your date also might feel left out and the same goes otherwise for you.
5. A Music Concert © iStock
Yeah, you could groove, be sweaty and things can get really romantic when your song or your jam is played. However, it rules out any chances of conversation between you two. Expect a lot of yelling “WHAT!?” and “Yeah, sure” (even when you aren’t sure of what they said) which you don’t really want to hear on the first date.
