The biggest quality of a top side is that their decision makers are always ready for introspection and they always strive to get better at their craft, irrespective of whether they’ve won or lost. While the ordinary teams, instead of working on their weaknesses, always try to come up with various excuses in order to justify their mediocre performances.
In a nutshell, this is the biggest quality that separates a world-class team from an average-performing side.
View this post on Instagram
The reason I am being so philosophical is because Team India that recently suffered a humiliating 3-0 clean sweep in the ODI series against South Africa has adopted methods that don’t go well with a top team.
After India suffered a series whitewash, everyone expected the team management to make a complete assessment of things that went wrong and identify reasons why they lost the series in such a humiliating manner.
But rather than pin-pointing the mistakes that saw them concede the series 3-0, India head coach Rahul Dravid tried to shift the blame on the lack of squad depth saying that it forced them to approach the game in a different manner.
View this post on Instagram
The former India captain, who took charge of the Indian team in November last year, highlighted that they missed the services of all-rounders like Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja which affected the side’s balance a great deal.
“Yeah, we understand the template. Obviously, a large part of the template is also dependent on the balance of your squad,” Dravid said while reflecting on the series loss.
View this post on Instagram
“I think if you are a little bit honest, some of the guys who help us balance the squad out and give us those all-round options at Nos 6, 7 and 8 are probably not here, and available for selection.
“Hopefully, when they (Hardik and Jadeja) come back, it will give us lot more depth, it allows us then to probably play in a slightly different style,” Dravid said while pointing out what the side lacked in the series.
View this post on Instagram
Dravid can say whatever he wants but the fact is that the Indian players were just not good enough to compete against a spirited South African side. In the absence of some of the senior players, the youngsters had an opportunity to make a case for themselves but they couldn’t do that.
Not just the newcomers, experienced players like Rishabh Pant, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin also failed to make an impact in the game.
View this post on Instagram
More than us, the hosts had a more inexperienced squad but their players played with great grit and determination. The hunger to win the series that was visible in their eyes, our players lacked it big time. Like the Test series, they perhaps all took the opposition lightly and paid a heavy price for their overconfidence.
As for Dravid, it’s too early to judge his performance but giving excuses like these is certainly not going to help him turn around his fortunes.

Former India opening batter Gautam Gambhir never shies away from speaking his mind out about Indian cricket. This approach often lands Gambhir in the firing line of cricket fans but that doesn’t stop him from taking a stance.
During his playing days, Gambhir was a fierce competitor on the field and he gave it his all whenever he walked onto the field to win the game for his country.
View this post on Instagram
Gambhir, who was working with Star Sports as the expert commentator during India’s tour of South Africa, reflected on India’s drubbing in the ODI series in the Rainbow nation. Team India lost the ODI series 0-3.
Speaking on India’s woes in the 50-over format, Gambhir pointed out that the team should not experiment with an individual’s batting position and pick players for ODIs based on their performances in the Indian Premier League.
The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper minced no words while criticising young all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, adding that he lacks maturity and the team management should only play him in T20 cricket.
Brilliant stumping from Quinton de Kock!
Venkatesh Iyer is stumped down the leg side and South Africa get the sixth wicket.
India are 239/6 after 44 overs.

“I feel he should only be considered for T20 cricket. Because he doesn't have that level of maturity yet. He has been given an opportunity to play international level after watching him in only 7-8 IPL matches. If you are going by IPL performances, then play him in T20 cricket. ODI is a completely different ball game and a completely different beast,” Hindustan Times quotes Gambhir as saying on Star Sports.
Venkatesh Iyer, who made his ODI debut in the first match of the three-match series in South Africa, failed to leave his mark in the 50-over format.
Having been picked in the Indian team on the basis of his performances in the second leg of IPL 2021, Venkatesh Iyer could only muster 24 runs in two matches and was dropped from the final ODI.
It is safe to say that the selectors’ experiment to try and find replacement for Hardik Pandya, who is a proven performer at international level, is still very much on after Venkatesh Iyer’s disappointing outing in the Rainbow nation.
Go well, Venkatesh Iyer #TeamIndia #SAvIND pic.twitter.com/IIo5jVR5h6
— BCCI (@BCCI) January 19, 2022
This also proves that the current selection committee led by Chetan Sharma needs to avoid jumping the gun after seeing a player do well in a few T20 games.

Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey, who started his acting career with TV, is finally making his comeback on the small screen after a gap of 8 years. The actor is turning host with Kahani Navbharat Ki which is set to get launched on Times Now Navbharat. It is a 10-part documentary series that talks about important moments that shaped India's history and its evolution towards a New India.
The show premieres on January 26 with a special curtain-raiser episode at 1:30 pm on Times Now Navbharat SD and HD. The series will begin on January 30, every Sunday at 8 pm.
View this post on Instagram
In an exclusive chat with MensXP, Vikrant Massey talks about Kahani Navbharat Ki and his TV comeback. Here are the excerpts:
MXP: You started your career with TV and later took a break from the medium to pursue films. Since you're now making a comeback on TV with Kahani Navbharat Ki, what made you say yes to the show?
VM: The very idea behind it. When I met the team, when all of us sort of chatted about why we are making the show, it was very clear (that I wanted to do it). There's a lot of pride, happiness, and emotions attached to the show because we're celebrating the proud 75 years of our Independence this year. We decided this is the right time to come out with the show as it speaks about the country's rich history, culture, and proud democracy that we are today. Also, it is a very well-researched show which tells a lot of unknown and untold stories in popular history which are yet to reach the masses. All these things sort of made me realise that this is the right time, the right show for me.
I've always wanted to be a part of something like this because unfortunately on TV, such informative and educational shows are not usually made. There are so many things that are amalgamated into this show hence it was a no-brainer for me to not be a part of this show.
MXP: The show talks about important and untold moments that shaped India's history. Is there any particular moment/incident in your life that you consider as a turning point?
VM: I think there will be many. I gave around a decade of my life to television and I learned a lot of things. There were a few special shows that'll definitely stand out, like Balika Vadhu. I'm really proud of that show. If I had not done Balika Vadhu, I might not be sitting here talking to you. And, in my film career, every project played an important part but A Death In The Gunj was one film that will always be very close to me. Because of that film, people somewhere started trusting me more.
In life, every now and then, there are challenges thrown at you and it entirely depends on what you do with it. I'm glad that I took up those challenges and today when I look back, I'm kind of satisfied and happy that whatever I did, has somewhere landed at the right place.
MXP: After coming from a TV background, you are finally doing films like A Death In The Gunj and Haseen Dillruba. We can say that you're finally getting your due in Bollywood too. However, is there any particular film or character that you really wanted to take up but somehow things didn't work out and had to turn it down?
VM: Yes, it happens with every actor but it's kind of unfair to sort of disclose these things. But, if you ask, what are the characters that I'd love to play, I was really inspired by Aamir Khan's character in Lagaan called Bhuvan. That character really really inspired me. I remember, I went to watch the film with my family and the entire hall was like a stadium. So, these are the characters that I've grown up watching and I would love to play something like that.
MXP: Your lineup includes films like Love Hostel, Mumbaikar, Forensic among others, how do you choose such a diverse range of projects?
VM: The idea is to challenge yourself every now and then because complacency is something that is a strict no-no for me. I don't want to make myself feel comfortable as I believe, I've just sort of started. There are still so many things that I have to do. So, it's a very conscious decision for me to pick up varied parts. Also, at the same time, (I want to) create a sense of curiosity amongst the audiences, with regards to what I can do. But, at the same time, you want to up your game and want to get out of your comfort zone. That is exactly one of the reasons why I probably choose different and varied characters. I tried offering something new and that's what keeps me going.
MXP: Coming back to Kahani Navbharat Ki, it's a new format for you since you've done daily soaps earlier. How has been your experience of working on the show so far?
VM: I did feel like I'm coming back home. When you're collaborating with the largest media network in the country, there's a responsibility and pride attached to it. Overall, it has been a fantastic team effort. We're all happy with what's come out. We're really excited that the show is premiering on Times Now Navbharat on January 26. And as I said, the idea is to share interesting anecdotes with the audiences because we definitely did feel a sense of pride when we were shooting or trying to narrate these stories. I really hope that viewers feel inspired and informed about the valour of our country, freedom fighters, and of the people who made this country.
MXP: Describe/sum up Kahani Navbharat Ki in just three sentences.
VM: The idea is to inform, to inspire, and to intrigue people.
MXP: At last, a message for fans. Why should they watch the show?
VM: There are many things, I can go on and on about it. We are celebrating 75 years of our Independence this year. We're living in the largest democracies and one of the most liberal societies in the world. It's a sense of massive pride. Somewhere it's important to inform everyone about the sacrifices the country has made. It's a show that speaks about the journey and spirit of our country. We know what has happened in the last 75 years but today all of us are in a position to decide how the next 75 years are going to be. So, I hope the show inspires the countrymen to go in the right direction.

Every time a reality show starts being aired, a lot of controversies and speculations begin to make rounds and Shark Tank India is nothing different when it comes to that.
A business and investment reality show, that has borrowed its concept from Shark Tank, where entrepreneurs sit and listen to interesting pitches made by contestants in hope of having at least one or all ‘sharks’ invest in them, the show has suddenly become the topic of every dinner-table conversation, especially with so much conjecture around the ‘sharks’ in the panel and the concept of the show itself.
© Siddharth Kannan
And one such notion going around is whether or not the show is rigged. A question that was finally answered by one of the Sharks on Shark Tank India - Shaadi.com founder and CEO Anupam Mittal who got candid in an interview with Siddharth Kannan about the same.
Catch me in conversation with @sidkannan
on his YouTube channel! Part 1 out now! https://t.co/C4XLdG9SIF @ShaadiDotCom @ShaadiAtWork @sharktankindia pic.twitter.com/qqmRTan2J3
— Anupam Mittal (@AnupamMittal) January 24, 2022
The businessman who was in conversation with Indian television and radio host Siddharth Kanan aspired to be as honest as he could as he was being probed with questions that weren’t ‘beating around the bush’ in words of Siddharth Kannan.
Addressing a rather popular opinion and rumour about the show being scripted, when Siddharth asked Anupam Mittal if there was any truth to it, the Shaadi.com CEO denied it point blank. Comparing the show to the likes of Bigg Boss and how reactions of contestants on the show are usually said to be rigged, Siddharth asked if the same transpires at Shark Tank too.
Anupam who rubbished such rumors said that he is answering and reacting to questions just as he is and without being told differently by anyone.

Also addressing his now popular one-liner that has made him subject to a lot of memes, Anupam said that his famous dialogue ‘Yaar kuch toh tehzeeb rakho’ is now going viral. He also said, “Thoda toh yaar ye editorial, creative freedom lete hi hain ye log, toh aisa kardiya hai ki ye log mujhe baat nahi karne dete. Aur main hamesha kehta hun ‘yaar mujhe baat toh karne do’. So, this has become like a second meme.”
© Sony Pictures Television
When asked whether he is allowed to speak his heart out and what he truly feels, by the show and other judges, Anupam said, “Poori dil ki bhadaas nahi nikalne dete, but main bhi kam nahi hun, main koi na koi angle dhund ke ghus hi jaata hun.”
Furthermore, Anupam Mittal was asked if he was just a judge or also producer at the show. Another claim that was denied by Anupam Mittal, for he said that he was working with Shark Tank India in just the capacity of a ‘judge’.

Who knew the announcement of Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo Hindi theatrical release would turn out to be controversial.
After the announcement of the theatrical release of the Hindi dubbed version, Manish Shah of Goldmines later stated that he has decided to withdraw the big screen release owing to the intervention by Allu Arjun’s father who is the producer of the original Telugu version and also the co-producer of the Hindi remake.
In an interview with India Today, he had called Shehzada actor Kartik Aaryan “unprofessional” and alleged that he threatened to walk out of the Hindi remake if Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo Hindi version released in theatres.
However, now the makers of Shehzada have come out in support of Kartik and have quashed the claims made by Manish Shah about the star of their film.
© Instagram/Kartik Aaryan
In a statement, Bhushan Kumar of T-Series called Kartik one of the most professional actors he has worked with. He said, “We, the producers, felt that Shehzada should release in theatre first and not the Hindi version of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, hence we requested Goldmines not to release the Hindi version, and release of the film is always the producers' decision and not actor. I have known Kartik since the beginning of his career. We have done multiple films together. He is one of the most professional actors I have worked with.”
The Hindi remake is helmed by Rohit Dhawan of Desi Boyz and Dishoom fame, elder brother of Varun Dhawan. He praised Kartik saying, “Kartik’s intent and excitement for Shehzada is unquestionable. It’s been a joy working with him. As director and actor, we share a solid bond and nothing can come in the way of our love for the film.”
Aman Gill, who is the co-producer of Shehzada added, "After finding out about the Hindi version release of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, we the producers on our own, requested Manishji to not release it. Kartik is going all out for Shehzada as an actor and only discusses how he can contribute to make this the biggest film for everyone involved, he is one of most dedicated actors in the industry.”
Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo released in 2020 and turned out to be the biggest hit of Telugu cinema outside, of course, the Baahubali films. It is the only South Indian film to collect Rs 200 crore domestically that was not released on a pan-India level.
© Geetha Arts
The original starred Allu Arjun, Pooja Hegde, Tabu, Sachin Khedekar and Murali Sharma.
As for Shehzada, the film stars Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Sanon, Paresh Rawal, Sunny Hinduja and Manisha Koirala.

The film is slated for November 4, 2022 release.

Remember reading 'proteins are the building blocks of the body' in your Biology textbooks back in school? Somehow, that has become one of those ironical info bits that everyone knows, but no one pays any heed to - just like global warming or ocean pollution.
via GIPHY
The only difference, however, is the fact that ignoring global warming and pollution in general will catch up to us in a generation or two in ways that are irreversible, but ignoring your daily protein requirement will catch up to you in a few years - if it already hasn't.
via GIPHY
My intention here is not to drown you in a tsunami of panic as you already deal with tidal waves of existential crisis, but to show you the mirror before it's too late. Protein deficiency, in a nutshell, is weakening and aging your body prematurely, and there is no other way to put it in more succinct terms.
via GIPHY
Especially, if we focus on us Indians, we are notoriously protein deficient, and the main reason is our ignorance. We are a carb-loving country (yum, I know), but eating carbs really shouldn't translate to ignoring protein, which we as a nation, are totally guilty of. Our staple diet of dal-roti-sabzi-dosa-idli-rice, doesn't cover us in terms of how much protein we really need in a day for a healthy body.
© iStock
Yes, not all of us are vegetarians and a lot of us do eat our chicken and fish and eggs, but is that a part of our regular daily diet? I'm not talking about fitness enthusiasts here who are particular about their diet and keep track of their macros. I'm talking about regular folks whose meals mostly translate to the good ol' 'ghar ka khaana'.
via GIPHY
As tasty and fulfilling our Indian home cooked meals are, unfortunately they often are protein deficient. Again, because of general ignorance. Don't believe me? How many times have you been told to eat dal, nuts, fruits, and vegetables as protein sources? Too many, right? Like all of us have while growing up. The sad thing is, they should simply not be considered as 'primary protein sources', and anyone depending on them as protein sources is a hundred percent protein deficient.
via GIPHY
Yes my friend, it's true. Also, no one seems to know that we all need to adhere to a minimum amount of protein every single day in terms of our diet, even if we're not going to the gym and leading a sedentary lifestyle. The biggest, most lethal myth that does the rounds of Indian households is that 'you only need protein if you go to the gym and want to build muscles'.
via GIPHY
No, it's NOT TRUE people! Irrespective of whether you workout or not, you still need to eat a minimum amount of protein every single day, in the absence of which your body will suffer, and your old age will be rife with overall weakness and a number of health issues.
via GIPHY
Ever heard of 'sarcopenia'? The loss of muscle mass and function during normal aging is termed sarcopenia. It is associated with frailty, mortality, problems with performing daily living tasks and falls. By ignoring our daily protein requirement, we're making ourselves more prone to this every single day.
via GIPHY
However, it can easily be avoided in most cases, or at least definitely delayed, if only we're mindful of our protein consumption. As adults, we need at least 1 gm of protein per kg of our body weight, even if we're leading a sedentary lifestyle. For athletes and people with more active lifestyles, the optimum quantity is 1.6 to 2.2 gm of protein per kg of body weight.
© iStock
While protein from natural sources is your best bet, opting for supplementation can get the job done easily and in a safe way as well, as opposed to the general perception. Please remember, protein supplements are just food items rich in protein, and not steroids or any such thing which should not be consumed except under expert supervision. Protein supplements available in the market can be a good option if you trust the brand, and beginners can also opt for trustworthy and familiar products like Horlicks Protein Plus to get started. All the best for your journey towards better health!

The journey for Rashmika Mandanna hasn’t been easy. If you have been following her, you have a fair idea that she had to battle all the odds, especially the nasty trolls that came her way. She made her acting debut in 2016 with the Kannada hit Kirik Party. She will soon make her Bollywood debut with Mission Majnu, a spy-thriller, opposite Sidharth Malhotra. She has made her space and her fans are smitten by her aura and positivity as she is always smiling.
View this post on InstagramJust yesterday evening, she was spotted stepping outside of a Mumbai restaurant and some children who were needy came to ask for money and food. She didn’t encourage it but she did greet them with her smile and generous attitude.
Here’s the video:
View this post on InstagramAs soon the video started doing the rounds on the internet, people started bashing her for not giving anything to the needy. They went on to say that there’s no point being famous if you can’t help the people in need. One of the Instagram users went on to say that the national crush didn’t have Rs 10 to give to these girls.
Here are the reactions:

Is it fair to judge her all the time? She might have not wanted to encourage these children begging on the roads.
In a recent interview, she revealed how deeply it impacted her when she entered the industry as she wasn’t aware of the trolling trend.
Rashmika told Bollywood Bubble, recalling the first time that it happened, “Oh majorly. It hit me like a bloody tsunami. I didn’t see it coming, I didn’t even know what trolling was, I wasn't even aware of it. I was this girl who had 100-200 followers and I was following some 400 people. I was just that girl. To one point I was body shamed and they were talking about my personality, my character, my family, my school, my upbringing, and all that. I remember all of this happening and the first time it happened I was like why is there so much negativity.”
Here’s the interview:
She went on to add, “The thing is, when people are trolling you, you feel like the whole world is trolling you. It was such a new concept that I started losing myself in all of this. I don’t want to be seen, I want to behave this way, I want to talk this way. It was bad.”
View this post on Instagram
She said, “I started self-doubting myself. What should I do? Should I cut my hand? Should I get lean? Whatever I did, it wasn’t convincing just because I don’t behave a certain way. This is impossible to impress everyone. Even today, I won’t lie that it does affect. Do shit to me but not my family.”
From her airport look to her promotional antics, people haven’t spared her at all.
This is not okay!

Released in 2010, Dabangg had turned out to be a huge money spinner at the box office and even won a National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
The film marked Salman Khan’s rise at the box office and was the second film after Wanted that started his golden run.
Two years later, its sequel titled Dabangg 2 was released which was a big box office success but failed to receive the critical acclaim of its prequel.
© Arbaaz Khan Productions
Years later in 2019, Salman once again returned to his iconic character of Chulbul Pandey with Dabangg 3. However, this time the film failed critically as well as commercially.
It seemed like we may have seen the last of Chulbul Pandey on the big screen, at least for the near future, but that is not the case as Bhai is not yet done with the character.
Recently, there were reports that filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia is currently busy writing the script of Dabangg 4 and if all goes well, he will also helm the fourth installment in the franchise.
When asked about the same, Tigmanshu confirmed in a recent Bollywood Hungama interview that he is indeed working on the script of Dabangg 4. He said, “Abhi writing chal rahi hai. Uspe jab sab sehmati ho jayegi fir decide karenge. (Currently, it’s in the writing stage. Once the script is finalised we will see about the film direction.)”
© BCCL
When further prompted how interesting it will be to see him directing Salman, the filmmaker left it all on fate saying, “Dekhte hain sab kismat pe chod rakha hai yaar..”
He was further asked if he has interacted with Salman’s father, the legendary writer Salim Khan, he said, “Not yet” and added it is not possible to move ahead without consulting him first. “Even I wouldn’t want to move ahead with the script without consulting him. I like him a lot.”
He further praised Salim Khan and said one learns a lot just by being in his company.
As for the Dabangg franchise, while Salman Khan plays the lead character of Chulbul Pandey, Arbaaz Khan plays his half-brother Makhanchand Pandey and Sonakshi Sinha plays Rajjo.
© Arbaaz Khan Productions
It will be interesting to see what new narrative Tigmanshu Dhulia brings to the almost dead franchise with his unique flair and experience as an acclaimed filmmaker.

From Virat Kohli to Rohit Sharma, most of the senior players have only good things to say about former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, under whose command they found their feet in international cricket and went on to establish themselves as world’s most feared batters.
© Reuters
Not just the senior players, even the younger lot like Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul and Yuzvendra Chahal have fond memories of making their international debut under his leadership.
The former India skipper is widely regarded as one of the greatest finishers of the game but that is not the only reason why people love and admire him so much.
People from the outside might judge him for his heroics on the field but for his teammates it was his personality that left them mesmerised.
© Reuters
Apart from his leadership skills, the values which he inculcated in the Indian team took them to great heights and they achieved some great results, especially in white-ball cricket.
No matter which player you ask, they can’t stop praising the legend enough, not because he was a great player but because he was a great human being. The way he conducted himself throughout his tenure was a lesson that every player should learn from.
© Twitter Hardik Pandya
One player who credits the ‘Thala’ a lot for his success is all-rounder Hardik, who was recently appointed the captain of the new IPL franchise based out of Ahmedabad.
According to the Baroda star, when he came to the Indian team he was “raw material” but it was Dhoni who made sure that he was groomed properly so that he could survive and make a mark in the international circuit.
So is he bowling full tilt? Will he be the all rounder India wants him to be in the @IPL ? Who is his role model as leader? @hardikpandya7 candid and forthright on all things and his leader mentor @msdhoni #BackstageWithBoria @R1SEWorldwide pic.twitter.com/y2f1JSk7u6
— Boria Majumdar (@BoriaMajumdar) January 25, 2022
“I have learnt a lot from everyone, especially Mahi bhai. When I went there I was a raw material. The way he groomed me, the way he gave me a lot of freedom. He wanted me to make my own mistakes and learn from them,” Hardik said during an interview with Boria Majumdar.
Reflecting on Dhoni’s approach towards a youngster, the fast-bowling all-rounder said that he was not someone who believed in spoon-feeding you all the things. His philosophy was to allow the newcomers to learn from their own mistakes and devise their own game plans rather than being reliant on someone else to provide them with the solutions.

“Not many people know but in first-class cricket you have a senior cricketer who guides you through. I came to the Indian team thinking Mahendra Singh Dhoni is in the team and I’ll be looked after. But then I realised Mahi bhai is not who says a lot of things. I thought he would tell me to bowl here and bowl there but a few years down the line I realised that he actually wanted me to learn on my own so that I can survive in international cricket.
“He never showed you that he was there but he was always there behind the scenes. On the field he wanted me to be rough and learn new things but behind I always knew he was there making sure that this guy gets groomed,” he explained.

Hardik, who is set to lead an IPL franchise for the first time in his life, said that Dhoni’s biggest standout quality was that he never showed his emotions but in reality he cared a lot about all his players and that’s why all the players trusted him blindly and were ready to “take a bullet” for him.
Recalling an interesting anecdote from his debut match, Hardik said that he had leaked around 22-24 runs in the first over that he bowled in international cricket and was afraid that his career had come to end even before it began.

After getting thrashed in his first over, the all-rounder wasn’t sure if he would get to bowl another over but then Mahi called him for another spell and he was able to repay the faith by turning things around.
“I didn’t realise his intentions back then. I remember I was on the backfoot because I was the first bowler who on debut gave 22-24 odd runs in the first over in international cricket and I genuinely thought that it would be my first and last game. Then he called me up for my second over. He perhaps wanted to see if I could swim in deep waters. Standing at extra cover, I genuinely couldn’t believe I was being asked to bowl again,” recalled the Baroda all-rounder during an interview.

Looking at all these things, one can understand why people describe Dhoni as a phenomenon whose place in the hearts of Indian cricket fans is locked forever and it can’t be challenged by anyone else, no matter how hard they try.
