Telugu superstar Jr. NTR needs no introduction, neither does the weighted lineage of talent he carries with that name. The actor, who has been working for over two decades hit fame with works like SS Rajamouli’s Student No. 1 and Simhadri, took no time to become a household name with his work.

Courtesy his hard work and the fame he enjoys, the actor earns more than Rs 30 crore per movie at the moment, but like many others, he also had his share of humble beginnings. Once in an interview, Jr NTR revealed that he was paid Rs 4 lakh in the year 2000 for his debut movie Ninnu Choodalani, and like a doting son, he gave the remuneration to his mother. The actor has also worked as a child artist in Ramayanam, which went on to bag a National Award as well.

The overnight success of the web series Scam 1992 has made Pratik Gandhi a household name and everyone who's seen him play Harshad Mehta has only been praising him for his craft. People who have watched only Hindi cinema got to know him and couldn’t help but desire for him to take up more roles. Born and raised in Surat, Pratik’s parents were teachers but he chose the path of acting.
He will soon be seen in Tigmanshu Dhulia's web show, The Great Indian Murder and in a recent interview he spoke how the show talks about casteism. Helmed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, The Great Indian Murder is based on the novel Six Suspects by writer Vikas Swarup whose book Q&A was adapted into the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire. The series has been bankrolled by Ajay Devgn and Reel Life Entertainment.

The official synopsis reads as, β€œVicky Rai is the cunning 32-year-old owner of the Rai Group of Industries and son of the Home Minister of Chhattisgarh, Jagannath Rai. Vicky Rai gets murdered in cold blood in a party thrown by him to celebrate his acquittal in a rape and murder case of two Shelter Home girls. Six suspects surrounding his murder come under the radar of the case’s investigating officers DCP Sudha Bhardwaj and Suraj Yadav of Central Bureau of Investigation. Vicky Rai’s case has also put an unintended halt in his father, Jagannath Rai’s political career which he tries to win by fair or foul means, even after Vicky’s death. The Great Indian Murder is about exploring several versions of a single murder, a story that Sudha and Suraj weave through their investigations.”
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Pratik shared, β€œThe caste system is so deep-rooted in our society for all processes. Beyond a point, it is difficult to realize how wrong it is. Even our regular discussions, the way work has been distributed, the way our surnames are given, everything (involves caste system)."

Asked if he would like to share an incident from real life when he experienced it, the actor said, "I used to work for a company and they used to set up power plants across India. For that, we had to acquire land and the landowners would seek jobs in our company in return, apart from the price of the land. And, you do not get educated people as landowners all the time. When they are not educated, you can offer them jobs as a helper or those kinds of jobs. But, if the landowner was from a higher caste, he would not be ready to take up those jobs. For them, it is difficult to differentiate between their jobs and their personal identities. It is about their ego. Things do not work like that in today's corporate world, but for them, it is a question of life. I have seen and experienced this. When I heard this the first time, I could not believe it. I was like 'what is this guy thinking' and more importantly, I'd think 'how do you change it?."

He added, "And, I am not talking about far back, I am talking about just five years ago. It (the mentality) is everywhere, I did that (sought land for the company and encountered such people) in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, South, everywhere.. the issue may not be the same, the intensity may be different but the basic issue is the same."
The theme of casteism is one of the underlying tones of his upcoming show. Talking about it, he said, "The issue of caste is deeply rooted in Indian society. Be it north, south, east, or west, it is one of the biggest demons we are all fighting with. A lot of systems and processes are designed in such a way that the entire caste system is difficult to get away with. I can only wish we get rid of these things as fast as we can. This is very well adapted in the screenplay and was part of the story, the book as well. Tigmanshu Dhulia understands these things very well. He comes from the heartland and you will enjoy all these nuances in the story."

About his character, he said, β€œMy character's name is Suraj Yadav. He is an investigating officer - a CBI officer. He has come up the ranks very fast and knows the entire system so well that he can manipulate it well. He is a pro at bureaucracy and is very well-connected as well. He is a flawed character and has been put on the case to take it to another level. Mine and Richa Chadha's (roles), we are both not part of the book (Six Suspects). These were specially written for the series. My character is also kind of the narrator for the story."
With such talented cast on board, we can surely expect a roller-coaster ride. The cast also features Raghubir Yadav, Shashank Arora, and Sharib Hashmi in pivotal roles.Β
