When India left for South Africa around a month ago, most people, including several Indian cricketers, had described it as a golden opportunity to script history in Rainbow Nation.
Given India’s superior record in the last couple of years, especially in overseas conditions, nobody had given the hosts any chance. For the first time in history, an Indian team was entering the South African shores carrying the outright favourites tag.
© Reuters
Even before the tour began, most experts had crowned India as the champions in their mind. Not just the experts, but fans were equally confident of Team India’s triumph. The only thing that they were concerned about was the scoreline.
The only debate was whether it would be a clean-sweep or if the Proteas would come up with some short of resistance and be able to challenge the mighty Indians.
View this post on InstagramNow that the tour has come to an end and South Africa have emerged victorious in both Test and ODI series, that too with great conviction, they have put every individual to shame, who gave them no chance before the series began.
On paper, India were clearly the better side. But sadly, a game of cricket is not won on paper. For that players need to perform on the field. Your reputation and past accolades count for nothing, all that matters is how you turn up on a given day.
View this post on Instagram
And clearly the Proteas fared much better than the big-name visitors and outplayed the Indian team in all three departments of the game throughout the tour.
The home side proved that the game is not won or lost on the basis of a player’s reputation. It’s won on the basis of on-field performance and their players clearly were more desperate to prove their critics wrong.
When asked to reflect on Team India’s horrendous performance, former India opener Gautam Gambhir came hard at the Indian players and pointed out a few key reasons that led to their forgettable outings.
View this post on Instagram
The southpaw said that the Indian team was afraid of losing and players were playing not to win the match but to save their position in the Playing XI and whenever that’s the case, more often than not the team ends up on the losing side.
Another important point that he raised was that many players were part of the side not because they were in great form but due to their big reputations. He added that a player’s reputation doesn’t matter unless he delivers on the field.
© Twitter Gautam Gambhir
“Fear of losing. You don't play on reputations. Cricket is not played on reputations. It is played in the middle. Many people say that India's top-4 or top-5 is very explosive and very experienced. But the way you play in the middle is the only way to determine results. We need to look beyond the fear of losing and the fear of own performance, that ‘I shouldn’t get out, I should score runs’,” Gambhir said on Star Sports.
After winning the opening Test match in Centurion, the Indian players probably started thinking that it would be a walk in the park and they would win the series quite easily. But the way the hosts bounced back in the Johannesburg Test, they showed that they weren’t going to be the pushovers that their oppositions had assumed them to be.
© Twitter Virat Kohli
This tour was hailed as an opportunity of a life-time but turned out to be Indian players’ worst nightmare in recent times. But the only good thing to have come out of all this was that, moving forward, Indian players would never take any opposition lightly.

It started from Family Man 2 and her impeccable acting in the show and went on to her scintillating dance moves in the recent superhit movie - Pushpa, seems like Samantha Ruth Prabhu is really all about making waves this time around, for she has proved that this is only the beginning for her.
© Mythri Movie Makers
The South actress who has given us hits like Oh! Baby, Ye Maaya Chesave and more, has been in the news for a variety of reasons of late. From her debut in the Hindi cinema and OTT space to her separation from her former husband Naga Chaitanya, Samantha has been the talk of the town. However, if there is anyone who can spin that talk in her favor, it has to be her, for she continues to surprise the audience with her choice of work.
The famous actress, after lighting the screen on fire with her dance number in Pushpa, might be looking at continuing the streak as rumors suggest that is in talks with the makers of Vijay Deverakonda's Liger for another dance number.

Every once in a while, we read about something or watch a video of something and think to ourselves: 'How did I not know of this before?' This perhaps was the reaction of most Indian sports enthusiasts, when Thounaojam Niranjoy Singh, a 24 year old man from Manipur, created a new world record of most finger push ups performed in one minute.
via GIPHY
Most people on Twitter, after hearing the number of push ups he did in one minute, did a double take and thought they were misreading it. He managed to do an incredible 109 push ups in a minute, a feat which seemed straight out of a movie scene.
via GIPHY
What makes the feat even more impressive, is the fact that Thounaojam Niranjoy Singh did not do regular push ups, where the entire palm is on the ground. He did a version of push ups where he was supported only through his fingertips.
via GIPHY
Minister of Law and Justice, Kiren Rijiju, took to Twitter to congratulate him on this incredible achievement. Take a look at his tweet here, where he has uploaded the video as well.
Amazing to see unbelievable power of Manipuri youth T. Niranjoy Singh who broke the Guinness Book of World Records for most push-ups (finger tips) in one minute
I'm so proud of his achievement !! pic.twitter.com/r1yT0ePn3f
— Kiren Rijiju (@KirenRijiju) January 22, 2022
Niranjoy Singh is already a two-time Guinness record holder, and he in fact smashed his own old record of 105 push ups in a minute.

Here's how people on Twitter congratulated him with kind words and encouragement.
Amazing. I am proud of him. My best wishes to him to be a winner at all times

It’s no secret that with the success of movies like Baahubali and Pushpa, actors from down south have gained pan India popularity. Bollywood filmmakers have also understood that enabling this cross-cultural exchange of cinema is beneficial for them. Now, we see actors like Prabhas, Rashmika Mandanna and many others who have made or are making their Bollywood debuts.
It’s a visual delight to see both the cinema worlds coming together but Kangana Ranaut feels that the content of South superstars are ‘such a rage’ and they shouldn’t let Bollywood corrupt it.
View this post on Instagram
Kangana wrote, “Some of the reasons why South content and superstars are such a rage…1) They are deeply rooted in Indian culture, 2) They love their families and relationships are conventional not westernized, 3) their professionalism and passion is unparalleled.” She also added, “They should not allow Bollywood to corrupt them.”
© Kangana Ranaut Instagram
She made her points referring to Pushpa’s phenomenal success at the box office. Pushpa: The Rise, which released last month, grossed a total of Rs 173 crore worldwide in three days since its release. The film, set against the backdrop of red sandalwood smuggling, features Allu Arjun, Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna and Sunil among other actors.
Last year, Kangana herself featured in Thalaivii, in which she portrayed the role of late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
For her role in the movie, Kangana had to gain 20kg and undergo major physical transformation several times. She took to Instagram to share her experience and said all these physical changes have left her with “permanent stretch marks."
View this post on Instagram
“Gaining 20kg in 6 months and losing it all within 6 months that too in my thirties messed up many things in my body. I also have permanent stretch marks as well but art comes to life with a price and more often than not price is the artist him/herself," she wrote.
Starring Arvind Swami as MG Ramachandran, Prakash Raj as M Karunanidhi, Jisshu Sengupta as Sobhan Babu, and Bhagyashree as Jayalalithaa’s mother Sandhya, the multi-lingual film was produced by Vishnu Vardhan and Shailesh R Singh.
Do you agree with her reasons? Let us know in the comments section below.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is currently on cloud nine as she recently welcomed her first child with hubby Nick Jonas through surrogacy. Taking to social media last week, the new parents surprised everyone by announcing the good news. While the much-in-love couple didn't reveal the gender of their newborn baby, several reports have suggested that Priyanka and Nick have welcomed a baby girl.
View this post on Instagram
Sharing the news of the arrival of their baby on Instagram, the couple wrote, "We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much".
View this post on Instagram
While the couple's fans and well-wishers are elated, the makers of PeeCee's upcoming film Jee Le Zara are a little tense. According to the latest buzz, the actress might opt out of the much-hyped female buddy project and has given the makers the option of signing some other actress for her role. Yes, you read that right! According to a Bollywood Hungama report, she wants to be with her newborn baby, for now.
For the unversed, the Dil Dhadakne Do star is supposed to star alongside Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif in Jee Le Zara. "But now with her motherhood, Priyanka wants to devote her time and energy to the baby, at least for now," a source informed the portal.
However, nothing is confirmed as Priyanka as well as the makers are yet to react to the rumours.
Last year, Farhan Akhtar announced his directorial comeback with Jee Le Zara, a road-trip movie. Since then, fans of Priyanka, Katrina, and Alia were excited to see them sharing screen space for the first time onscreen. Recently, there was a buzz that the makers have approached Vicky Kaushal to star opposite Katrina. If things work out, Jee Le Zara might be Vicky-Katrina's first project together after their grand wedding.
View this post on Instagram
Coming back to Priyanka, she had earlier walked out of Salman Khan’s Bharat at the last moment to get married. Later, Katrina replaced her.
On the career front, PeeCee was last seen in Keanu Reeves' The Matrix Resurrections and also has projects like Text For You and Citadel in her kitty. Talking about Jee Le Zara, we just hope that the makers somehow convince Priyanka to stay back.

Virat Kohli scored his 64th ODI half-century during the third match of the three-game series against South Africa. However, it wasn’t enough to save India from an embarrassing clean sweep against the Proteas as the visitors lost the match by four runs.
On Sunday, Kohli looked his old self on the field – cheering his bowlers and chirping around trying to break the concentration of the South African batters.
FIFTY!
A well-made half-century for @imVkohli. His 64th in ODIs.

Kohli came out to bat in the fifth over after India lost their skipper KL Rahul early in the chase of 288. The former skipper joined his statemate Shikhar Dhawan in the middle and put on a 98-run stand for the second wicket.
The 33-year-old scored a fine half-century and after reaching the milestone, he came up with a special cradle celebration for his daughter Vamika who was at the ground with Anushka Sharma.
A video went viral on social media in which Kohli can be seen doing the cradle celebration while Anushka, holding Vamika in her arms, cheered him on from the stands.
View this post on Instagram
Anushka took to Instagram on Monday to react to the viral video that is doing the rounds on social media and said they “were caught off guard” as they did not know the camera was on them.
Anushka further added that they would like if Vamika’s images are not clicked or published.

Virat Kohli too shared the same message on his Instagram, saying reasons behind not allowing the paps to click images of their daughter remains the same that the couple had explained earlier.

In a statement last year, the couple had requested the media fraternity to not carry any content that features their daughter.
Kohli and Anushka, in a note to the paparazzi fraternity, had said that they want to protect the privacy of their child and requested the media not to post or click pictures of Vamika.
View this post on Instagram
“As parents, we have a simple request to make to you. We want to protect the privacy of our child and we need your help and support. While we will always ensure that you get all the content you need featuring us, we would request you to kindly not take or carry any content that has our child," the couple had said in a statement last year.

The craze and hype around Allu Arjun and his latest blockbuster Pushpa has transcended boundaries and reached Bangladesh cricket it seems.
A recent video clip from a cricket match has gone viral on social media where a bowler from Bangladesh can be seen celebrating wicket dismissal by enacting Allu Arjun’s Pushpa move.
The clip is from the recent cricket match between Bangladesh Premier League teams Sylhet Sunrisers and Comilla Victorians. After dismissing Shohidul Islam of Comilla Victorians, Sylhet Sunrisers’ bowler Nazmul Islam celebrated the wicket by mimicking Allu Arjun from Pushpa.

Chivalry, courtesy and humanity are not lost in this world after all, and there are only a few things in life that actually remind me of it. Things like someone feeding a stray, a guy calling you back after a good date and in the most recent times - Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s fans supporting them and how.

The power couple, that is also the butt of mindless and severe trolling for no good reason ever, was in South Africa as Anushka and their daughter Vamika decided to accompany Virat Kohli for the on-going cricket tournament.
Sky sports reveal vamika face

During the match, as Virat Kohli scored a half century and waved towards his loving wife and daughter, who were in the stands, cheering him on and giving him flying kisses, the TV broadcaster ended up revealing that very private moment and with it, Vamika’s face, to the entire world.
View this post on Instagram
You see, both Virat and Anushka had gone on record several times before to request and urge people to respect their daughter’s privacy and not try to see her face. They sent out personalised messages to the media, put out paragraphs on social media and repeatedly reiterated the same thing over and over again, hoping the paps and fans would understand their need to protect their daughter and her privacy.

Virat Kohli’s decision to step down from India’s Test captaincy created huge uproar in the cricket community. The former skipper’s announcement led to a huge debate on the internet, with different people blaming different individuals for cornering him to such an extent that he eventually decided to quit.
View this post on Instagram
While announcing his Test captaincy resignation, there were only two individuals – Ravi Shastri and MS Dhoni – who got a mention in Kohli’s long statement, which speaks volumes about his special bond with these two former members of the Indian team.
While Dhoni was the one who chose the Delhi-cricketer as his successor and entrusted him to take the Indian cricket forward, Shastri was the one who held his hands and guided him at each and every step, contributing a great deal to his success over the years.
© Reuters
The biggest question that each one of us had when Kohli stepped down from the red-ball captaincy was why now. He was only 33 and could've easily carried on for the next two years, if not more, before deciding to pass on the leadership baton.
Like many of us the former India head coach, whose mighty successful tenure came to an end after last year’s T20 World Cup, also believed the same and was surprised that, despite his incredible record, people were actually debating whether he should be captain or not.
© Reuters
When asked for an explanation, Shastri said that had Kohli continued to lead the Indian Test team for next two years, he could have easily taken his tally to 50-60 Test wins and some people in the BCCI would have found it difficult to digest.
Ravi Shastri on Virat Kohli's Test Captaincy,Spitting fact as always pic.twitter.com/wrHzpryv6F
— Harshit Pachouri (@Believer__18) January 23, 2022
“Whether Virat could have continued to lead India in Tests. For sure, he could have led India for at least 2 years because next two years India would be playing at home and who is coming over - 9 and 10 jacks, going by the rankings. But he would have then made it to 50 wins under his captaincy and a lot of people will not be able to digest that fact. Digesting 40 wins was difficult for many people, just imagine what would’ve happened had he crossed 50 wins,” Shastri said during a Sports Tak interview.
The former India all-rounder further added: “Two years, he could have carried on but we should respect his decision. In any other country, this kind of record is incredible. You won against Australia, England and lost 1-2 to South Africa but still, there are debates if he should be the captain or not.”
© Reuters
Shastri didn’t call out names but the fans were pretty sure who he was talking about. Many opined that given how things panned out in the last few months, his remarks were meant for the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and other office bearers, with whom Kohli had a major fallout in the last few months.
Love the way Ravi Shastri never holds back !!! We know this isn't a natural decision from Kohli he did resign bcz of politics .

— Harshit Pachouri (@Believer__18) January 23, 2022He is talking about Ganguly probably
— Umar Arshad Siddiqui (@iamumar46) January 23, 2022Whatever the reason may be, the fact is that Kohli is not the India captain anymore. Whether due to his fallout with the BCCI boss or due to personal reasons like he mentioned in his statement, he has decided to move on and it would be better that we do the same as well.
