3 Reasons Why Kangana Thinks South Actors Are A Rage & Bollywood Shouldn’t Corrupt Them

It’s no secret that with the success of movies like Baahubali and Pushpa, actors from down south have gained pan India popularity. Bollywood filmmakers have also understood that enabling this cross-cultural exchange of cinema is beneficial for them. Now, we see actors like Prabhas, Rashmika Mandanna and many others who have made or are making their Bollywood debuts.

It’s a visual delight to see both the cinema worlds coming together but Kangana Ranaut feels that the content of South superstars are ‘such a rage’ and they shouldn’t let Bollywood corrupt it.

Kangana wrote, “Some of the reasons why South content and superstars are such a rage…1) They are deeply rooted in Indian culture, 2) They love their families and relationships are conventional not westernized, 3) their professionalism and passion is unparalleled.” She also added, “They should not allow Bollywood to corrupt them.”

She made her points referring to Pushpa’s phenomenal success at the box office. Pushpa: The Rise, which released last month, grossed a total of Rs 173 crore worldwide in three days since its release. The film, set against the backdrop of red sandalwood smuggling, features Allu Arjun, Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna and Sunil among other actors.

Last year, Kangana herself featured in Thalaivii, in which she portrayed the role of late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.

For her role in the movie, Kangana had to gain 20kg and undergo major physical transformation several times. She took to Instagram to share her experience and said all these physical changes have left her with “permanent stretch marks."

“Gaining 20kg in 6 months and losing it all within 6 months that too in my thirties messed up many things in my body. I also have permanent stretch marks as well but art comes to life with a price and more often than not price is the artist him/herself," she wrote.

Starring Arvind Swami as MG Ramachandran, Prakash Raj as M Karunanidhi, Jisshu Sengupta as Sobhan Babu, and Bhagyashree as Jayalalithaa’s mother Sandhya, the multi-lingual film was produced by Vishnu Vardhan and Shailesh R Singh.
