    It was just beginning to seem like everything was finally going back to normal after two years (which felt like a century), when the news of a new variant ‘omicron’ started doing the rounds.  
    Just before the year ends, the third wave of Covid is now hovering over us and our new year plans.

    However, some people are still unfazed by the threat. Or maybe they are done being locked in their homes.  

    Scores of people were seen flocking to the markets and travel destinations in full swing even with the states imposing restrictions.

    Just a couple of weeks ago, there was a video from Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar market where people were shopping like there’s no tomorrow.  

    Then, there was a picture from Kolkata’s Park Street where people had turned up in huge numbers to celebrate Christmas.

    However, there’s a section of people who are still being cautious and maintaining precaution by staying at home, shelving all new year plans and avoiding public places, so we don’t have to go through the same turmoil like the last year during the first and second wave.

    Seeing covidiots having the ‘zindagi na milegi dobara’ attitude during this time truly makes us shake our heads in disappointment.  

    Some have expressed their surprise on social media via memes and reactions and begging these holidaymakers and shoppers to stay at home.

    In the mid-00s, there was a time when actress Mallika Sherawat was considered Bollywood’s *** symbol and was too much to handle for a certain section of people. 
    Anything she did made headlines and she often found herself embroiled in controversies.  
    One such controversy that had become the talk of the town was her New Year dance performance on December 31, 2006. 
    Soon after her dance performance was televised, a case was filed against her by the former president of the Vadodara Bar Association, Narendra Tiwari. He had termed her dance performance “obscene”, according to Indian Express.

    Months later, a Vadodara court had issued a bailable warrant against Mallika asking her to remain present during the court proceedings after she didn’t respond to the summons by the court.  

    In 2013, the Supreme Court stayed Vadodara court's order and gave Mallika a breather in the case.

    This was not all, there was also another controversy that had taken place days before the legal trouble. 
    A report in Mumbai Mirror had stated that the performance was not supposed to be televised. After realising that it is airing on TV, Mallika had staged a walkout in the midst of her performance.  
    When show’s organiser Ali Morani was asked about it, he said, “Yes, I got Mallika the deal. But beyond that, I really don’t know what happened.”

    A source close to Mallika had told the website, “It was a clear breach of contract, and not on Mallika’s part. According to the contract, only 10 seconds of her performance on stage that evening was meant to be televised. Mallika was clearly given to understand that the brief 10-second footage would be used for news clippings, etc. When she realised that the whole show was being telecast, against the contract, she simply walked out.”

    Rashmika Mandanna is one actress that has been a sensation in recent times.
    Not only is the actress super popular on social media platforms like Instagram, but her success in films means that she's got a really bright future ahead of her.
    Rashmika recently saw the release of her new film Pushpa that stars superstar Allu Arjun.

    The movie has received some really rave reviews with its box office earnings being astronomical. On top of that, the actress is also set to make her Bollywood debut in Mission Majnu next year alongside Siddharth Malhotra.

    Now, having been in the industry for the last five years, Rashmika has laid down the things that she's learned from her time in the films business.
    Putting up an Instagram post, Rashmika listed the things that she's learned, and interestingly, it also something about her love life in general.

    “It’s been five years of me in the film industry. Like woahhhh how did that happen? Guys, couple of things I’ve learnt all these years. 

    1. Time is flying by too fast make memories each day. 2. How to be truly genuinely happy from the bottom of the heart. I am happy. 3. I’ve realised nothing in life is easy. Got to always always keep fighting for what you want. Be alert, be on your toes, be grounded, be grateful but always keep fighting,
    4. But also be patient. Wait, be patient. Things will take its place. It might be hard and taxing but be patient and calm also.” 
    Rashmika continued, “5. Other people always have something to teach you, so always be open to learn. You should be able to unlearn and learn many things.”

    "6. Don’t carry emotional baggages — physical baggages, mental baggages. Let go! Learn to let go. 7. Give time for things in life you want to work out. Example, if it’s career – give time to that. If it’s love – give time to that. If it’s family – give time to that. If it’s you – give time to yourself. Your time is yours. So you choose but remember time and flights will never wait for you,” wrote Rashmika.
    Finally, she also says that one needs to learn how to love openly in order for people to get a better chance at something substantial.
    “8. Eat cleaner, sleep better, workout harder, smile bigger, love more openly. 9. People don’t owe you anything so you don’t have to do favors to anyone. You can and you should think of yourself first. And many more. I’ll keep going on and on. I’ll speak of all of this one day but for now these.” said Rashmika.
    While, it is certainly not clear if Rashmika is dating anyone, but if she listens to herself, we'll probably get to hear about it soon.

    An actor who needs no introduction, especially after having essayed roles like Faizal from Gangs of Wasseypur and Ganesh Gaitonde from Sacred Games, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has proved his mettle as an actor in the industry not with the conventional roles, but by choosing unconventional and unapologetic roles. 
    And so, when an actor of his stature makes a statement about someone else’s calibre, we want to listen. Like this time when the actor called fellow actress Kangana Ranaut, a ‘great producer’.

    Working on Tiku Weds Sheru, where the Manikarnika actress would be seen taking up a role not on the screen, but off of it, Nawazuddin is all set to star in Kangana’s digital debut as a producer. 

    Sharing his experience of working with the National Award-winning actress, Nawazuddin said, “Kangana is a great producer and turns up on set each day. The way she adores her actors and takes care of them is amazing. The unit is very happy with her. All her suggestions only enhance the film, there is no interference from her."

    And this coming from Nawazuddin, who isn’t known to be diplomatic in his opinion, is quite telling of Kangana’s addition to the film from behind the screen as a producer.

    As far as donning a different role for the film was concerned, Nawazuddin shared how he even had to learn Salsa dancing for this film and despite it making him uncomfortable, he gave it his best shot. 
    “If I were a calculative actor, I would have played safe roles. I wouldn’t have been able to play the unique characters that I have. I would be more concerned about the box office and would have wanted a heroine (in all my films). But, I was keen to explore a zone that made me uncomfortable, and I focused on that," said Nawazuddin.

    He further said, “If the story needs to be told, I will be part of it, even if it makes me uncomfortable. We need to step out of our comfort zones."  A fact that both Kangana and Nawazuddin have been seen sticking to when it comes to choosing roles in films.

    Amid the Omnicron scare, the Delhi government recently announced a Yellow alert due to which the theatres were shut down once again, while in other states, a night curfew has been imposed which resulted in the cancellation of late evening and night shows of various films. This latest development has hit the movie business once again. While Ranveer Singh's 83 has turned out to be a disappointment at the box office, the makers of Shahid Kapoor-starrer Jersey decided to postpone the film's release. 
    Seeing all this, Karan Johar took to his Twitter account and urged the Delhi government to allow cinema halls to operate in the national capital. He tweeted, "We urge the Delhi Government to allow cinemas to operate. Cinemas are equipped with better ability to ensure a hygienic environment while maintaining social distancing norms as compared to other out-of-home settings".

    As the number of COVID-19 cases is increasing in Delhi with each passing day, Karan's tweet has left netizens angry. The social media users are slamming the filmmakers for being insensitive and only thinking about money. 

    Trolling Johar for his tweet, a user wrote, "Ye aadmi @aliaa08 ke IQ pe hasta tha". Another wrote. "As someone who wears his Bollywood love on his sleeve, I'm very disappointed by such comments by one of the most powerful voices in the industry. It's an unfortunate situation overall, but consciously stuffing people next to each other in a closed area is ill-advised at best".

    Having established herself well in the Telugu and Tamil film industries, Samantha Ruth Prabhu is one actress who's seen her stocks rise high in the Hindi film industry as well in recent times.

    This is obviously because of her stellar performance in the Prime Video TV series The Family Man, alongside Manoj Bajpayee.

    Samantha played the role of Raji in the second season of the hit television series, with her acting really striking a chord with many fans.

    The actress has since then been in demand and is reported to have had a lot of offers from Hindi cinema.
    However, for all her talent and on-screen persona, one can only wonder why Samantha has kept a distance from Bollywood.
    Well, it looks like the actress herself is finally ready to answer just that.

    In an interview with ETimes, Samantha revealed that the reason why she's not done Bollywood films till now is basically that she wanted to have a proper footing in the South.

    "I was finding my footing in the South and gained confidence in my work only in the last two years. I was still making bad choices and not doing the kind of work that satisfied me," said Samantha.
    However, she says that she's now ready to accept newer challenges, with Bollywood definitely looking to be one of them.  
    "Things changed a great deal in the last two years, and now, I am confident about accepting challenges. I don't try everything and then see what works. I usually take time to perfect something before moving on to another challenge. That's why it has taken me this long to get this far." said Samantha.
    She also admits that right now is probably the best time for an artist looking to switch across to a different film industry because of the language barrier getting thinner and thinner.
    "I think it is a great time to be an artist. The lines are blurring, and the opportunities are a lot more. I love the place we are in now, which is so encouraging for artists from other industries." she said.
    And as per reports, she might just make her Bollywood debut soon, with it being said that she could be starring in a Taapsee Pannu-produced film in 2022.

    Impressed with Mohammed Shami’s heroics at Centurion, the Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli said that he strongly felt that the UP-born spinner was among the world’s best three fast bowlers.
    Speaking at the post-match presentation after the first Test, Kohli was full of praise for the 31-year-old quick and lauded his “impactful performance” which played a key role in India’s historic triumph.

    “Very, very happy for him to get 200 wickets and have an impactful performance. He is absolutely world-class talent. For me, he's in the best three seamers in the world at the moment. His strong wrist, his seam position and his ability to hit a length consistently,” Kohli said of Shami at the post-match presentation.

    Who is the world’s best fast bowler? The answer to this simple question is not as easy as many think it to be. More than a player’s on-field performance, there are several external factors that affect the reply. A lot depends on the person who you are asking. Naturally a cricket fan or pundit from Australia or India would pick a bowler from their own country.
    This is the reason why it is really difficult to get a clear majority on any name and the same happened after Kohli made a bold claim about his fellow countrymen. While the majority of the Indian fans agreed with the Kohli’s assessment, some believed that there were other better bowlers like Mitchell Starc, James Anderson, Pat Cummins who were more worthy of a place in the world’s top three.

    Social media is a strange place and that was proven once again when a social media user asked Aamir Khan’s daughter if she is 'related' to the superstar. 
    It so happened that a few days back Ira shared a couple of pictures of herself with her father Aamir Khan. The pictures were from their Christmas celebrations and garnered a lot of response from Ira’s followers and Aamir Khan’s fans. 
    One of the users, who probably was unaware of Ira’s relation with Aamirm commented, “Why is he close to you? Is he your relative?”
    Responding to his query, another follower replied that they are father-daughter, “They are father and daughter” and that Aamir is her biological father.

    The user refused to believe that Ira is Aamir’s daughter and joked, “Lol, Good joke sir, Shah Rukh is my biological father then”.

    Another user joined the conversation stating, “Dude, she is the daughter of Aamir Khan. You can always check it on Google to confirm.” 
    A fourth user then chipped in saying Google also gives out wrong information, “Bhai Google jhuth bhi bata sakta hai kitne chance huye hain ki Google pe search kuch karo aur aata kuch or hai (Brother, Google can lie also. It has happened so many times, that you search for one thing on Google and the results are totally unrelated).” 
    Which means there were no two people who were refusing to believe Ira is Aamir’s daughter. It is what it is.

    Ira is Aamir Khan’s daughter from his first wife Reena. Unlike her father and most of the other star kids, she isn’t inclined towards acting and wants to be a filmmaker.

    She made her directorial debut in 2019 with the play Euripedes’ Medea starring Hazel Keech. 
    In an interview with Hindustan Times, Ira had opened up about not opting for acting. She had said, “I’ve always felt more comfortable and enthusiastic about working off-stage or behind the camera rather than [being] in front of it. I’ve never felt the inclination to act except if it were in an action film, so I get to learn all the cool stunts. Then again... I can just learn how to do the stunts without a film to work on.

    Australia’s star batter Steve Smith got stuck inside a lift for nearly an hour at a hotel in Melbourne. 
    The former Australia skipper wasn’t the first and wouldn’t be the last person to get stuck in an elevator. Many of us have been in a similar situation at some stage in our life but the main differentiator between us and Smith is how they reacted to the situation.
    Let’s be honest, most people who get stuck inside the lift panic and make things worse not just for themselves but also those who try to get them out safely.

    The Australian talisman was trapped inside the lift for almost one hour but he still didn’t panic. The way he reacted to the situation could be the perfect lesson for each and every individual out there on how to deal with as awkward a situation as this. 
    Instead of panicking, the 32-year-old modern day legend shared his experience with his millions of followers on Instagram. In the meantime his teammate and good friend Marnus Labuschagne tried everything to help him.

    Turning the crisis into an opportunity, Smith conducted a live stream on his Instagram account and interacted with his fans. He might be alone inside the lift but he used the power of social media and filled this loneliness.

    “I’m on my floor, I’m staying on this level but the doors won’t open. Out of service up there apparently. I’ve tried to get the door open; I’ve got this side open, Marnus is on the other side trying to open that to not much avail,” Smith said in a video posted on his Instagram story.

    “Not quite the evening I had planned, let’s be honest,” he added. 
    Apart from sharing the live updates of his ordeal, Smith even asked his followers to send in their suggestions as to how to kill time while stuck in a non-functioning lift.

    “Safely back in the room. Finally, out of the lift. That certainly was an experience. 55 minutes I will probably never get back,” he said after he returned back to his hotel room. 
    The fans simply loved the way Smith dealt with this whole situation.They were also impressed with the camaraderie between Smith and Labuschagne, who stayed there with him the whole time and tried to ease down his nerves, if there were any, like a true friend.

    Talking about cricket, out of these three victories in the ongoing Ashes series one came under Smith’s leadership as he captained Australia for the first time since the infamous Sandpaper Gate scandal. He led the side in the second Test in Adelaide which they won by 275 runs. He missed out on a century by a whisker in the first innings of that match.
