    Bollywood is set to welcome a lot of new faces in 2022, and luckily for the industry, many of them are already popular with fans in and outside the country.
    With there being new and exciting content-driven projects underway for the new year, here is a look at the five popular Indian actresses who are set to make their Bollywood debuts in 2022:

    On the back of a stellar performance in the high-grossing Pushpa starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika is going to make her Bollywood debut in 2022.

    She will star alongside actor Siddharth Malhotra in Mission Majnu, where the South Indian actress will play a crucial role in Shantanu Bagchi's spy-thriller film.
    Mission Majnu will release on May 13, 2022.

    The 2017 Miss World winner will be making her much-awaited Bollywood debut opposite superstar Akshay Kumar in Chandraprakash Dwivedi's Prithviraj.

    The actress will play the role of Sanyogita in the film, which will depict the heroism of the fearless King Prithviraj Chauhan, which will be played by Akshay.

    Samantha was absolutely sensational when she made her Indian OTT debut with Manoj Bajpayee's Family Man season 2.

    Now, she's gone on to increase her popularity in other parts of India as well and is reported to be making her Bollywood debut in 2022.
    While no projects have been confirmed, so far, it is said that the actress is reported to make her debut in a Taapsee Pannu-produced film.

    Palak, the daughter of Indian actress Shweta Tiwari has become a very popular figure on social media and her Bijli video is still amazing fans everywhere. 

    Now, the talented actress is set to make her Bollywood debut in 2022 with the horror film Rosie, which will be directed by Vishal Mishra.

    Shalini Pandey, who starred in Arjun Reddy, is also set to make her debut in the Bollywood industry in 2022. 

    According to reports, Shalini will star in Divyang Thakkar's Jayeshbhai Jordaar opposite Ranveer Singh.
    The movie is set to release in theatres on February 25, 2022.

    We have finally entered the year 2022 and for movie buffs, we can call this year a blissful one as the filmmakers are churning out some interesting content this year. 
    Today, we bring you a list of the most anticipated Indian movies of 2022, according to IMDb. This list was determined by the website on the basis of the page views they received, with more than 200 million monthly users. 
    (This list is no particular order)
    1: RRR (January 22)
    Director SS Rajamouli’s RRR is a fictional story of two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR, respectively. The big-budget action entertainer is produced on a whopping budget of Rs 450 crore. The movie also features Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles. 
    “This will be a fictional story on the lives of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. There are gaps in the lives of these legendary freedom fighters that we don’t know about. We don’t know what happened in their lives in these years. It is through this fictional story we’d like to show what could have happened in their lives and what would have happened if they met and bonded,” Rajamouli had said at the film’s launch in 2019.  
    2: Gehraiyaan (January 25) 
    Filmmaker Shakun Batra’s upcoming film Gehraiyaan, starring Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa, is set to have its world premiere on Amazon Prime Video on January 25, 2022.
    According to the makers, the Amazon Original talks about the “depths of complex modern relationships, adulting, letting go and taking control of ones’ life path”.
    It also features Nasseruddin Shah and Rajat Kapur in pivotal roles. The film is jointly produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios in association with Batra’s Jouska Films.
    3: Laal Singh Chaddha (April 14) Laal Singh Chaddha is the Hindi remake of Hollywood star Tom Hanks's 1994 Hollywood film Forrest Gump. In the original film, Tom Hanks played the role of a slow-witted guy who witnessed some historical events of the United States in the 20th century.

    In the movie, we are getting to see Aamir Khan as a Sikh guy and people have been waiting to watch him on the big screen as his look from the movie was very well received. The film will span over five decades in the life of the main character. 
    4: KGF Chapter 2 (April 14) KGF: Chapter 1, starring Kannada superstar Yash, made history at the box office and was appreciated by the viewers for its fresh content. Just like the first film, KGF Chapter 2 will be made in Kannada and dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi.  

    Directed by Prashanth Neel, the film features Yash, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Srinidhi Shetty, Prakash Raj, Malavika Avinash and Achyuth Kumar in pivotal roles.
    5: Gangubai Kathiawadi (February 18) Gangubai Kathiawadi is being directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and this is his first collaboration with Alia Bhatt who plays the titular role. The movie has been adapted from one of the chapters of Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai. 

    The movie will see Alia as Gangubai Kothewali, a gun-wielding and one of the most powerful, loved, and respected brothel owners of Kamathipura brothel during the 1960s. Sold into prostitution very young, Gangubai became influential in the city, with notorious criminals serving as her clients. 
    6: Brahmastra (September 9) Directed by Ayan Mukerji, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra is a superhero film jointly produced by Fox Star Studios and Dharma Productions. The film was earlier slated to release in theatres on December 4, 2020. The film's release was delayed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. 
    The three-apart fantasy trilogy will release in five languages. Brahmastra also features Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Mouni Roy, and Dimple Kapadia in key roles.
    At the motion poster launch, Ranbir said, “It’s been eight years and I remember we were shooting for the last leg of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ayan had a very basic idea of a young man born with a great power that he fully doesn’t understand. It’s been a lot of hard work, blood, tears, and sweat that has gone into it. It has taught me something you and I should live by that we have to hold on to the fundamental quality of having faith. I miss my father terribly today and he kept fighting with us because it took us many years. I hope he is proud of us and he is watching us.” 
    7: Dhaakad (April 8) Kangana Ranaut’s spy thriller Dhaakad is set to be released theatrically on April 8, 2022. The film deals with the subject of child trafficking and the exploitation of women.

    "It’s a deeply stirring subject and we have made it on a scale that only theatres could do justice to. The layered story at the heart of it needs to reach out to the masses and I am certain, the film will speak to women across the board. I can’t wait for the audience to meet Agent Agni on April 8,” the 34-year-old actor said in a PR statement.

    8: Radhe Shyam (January 14) People have been waiting to watch Prabhas and Pooja Hegde starrer Radhe Shyam on the big screens. A while ago, the makers dropped the trailer and people found it very intriguing.  Radhe Shyam, said to be set in the backdrop of 1970’s Europe, has been in production since 2018. 

    Jointly produced by UV Creations and T-Series, the film also stars Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Kunal Roy Kapur, Sathyan, Priyadarshi, Murali Sharma, Sasha Chettri, and Riddhi Kumar. It will release in theaters on January 14.
    9: Heropanti 2 (April 29) Heropanti 2 has been directed by choreographer-director Ahmed Khan who previously directed two films in the Baaghi franchise.

    Along with Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria, Gangs of Wasseypur actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui will also feature in Heropanti 2.

    10: Adipurush (August 11) Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, is going to be the screen adaptation of the epic Ramayana. 

    While Saif Ali Khan plays Ravana, Prabhas and Kriti Sanon play Ram and Sita, respectively. Sunny Singh will be seen as the dutiful Lakshman.

What makes her achievement noteworthy and remarkable is the fact that she has managed it without any godfather in Bollywood. As an outsider in the industry, it’s never easy as you don’t get chances to prove yourself. If you fail, you fail as you don’t have a connection.

    Knowing Taapsee for years now, I can totally tell that she has worked really hard to get this feat and recognition. She is someone who believes in putting her 100% in all the characters she wisely picks up. It was in 2017 (when I was working with Pinkvilla) that I met her for the third time and the conversation went on smoothly. This was the time when she was promoting her movie Judwaa 2. She was breaking stereotypes as an actor who did only offbeat and serious roles. 
    In an interview with Pinkvilla, she spoke about her cinematic journey. As we all know that she doesn’t mince words and is quite honest, she said, “I don't have any complaints. My audiences have been kind to me. I always say that  jiska koi nahi hota uski janta hoti hai. I have no godfather in the industry. They have been considerate towards me knowing the fact I don't belong to the film background. They know me for my work and not something else and that's what I am happy about. Nothing to regret right now and I have been slow and steady.”

    Talking about having no godfather and still managing to make it big, she said, “To break the initial glass was difficult. You constantly go out and tell your worth, which is difficult and awkward. The struggle hasn't ended yet and I still have to face that. It's difficult and it's like every Friday is an examination for me. There is a risk of failure that I will have to start from scratch. It's not a pretty stable sort of a surface for people like me, considering the background I come from.”

    As she has been open about her struggles in the industry, I asked her about nepotism and if she faced any discrimination as she had no one to back her up, she said, “It's over-discussed, not over-rated. It's there and you can't do much about it, so network your way around it. The one disadvantage of nepotism is that we compare our cinema to Hollywood and why are we not doing such kind of content and why don't we have such talent; nepotism pulls it down. We are not able to explore new talent.”

    Taapsee Pannu, who was last seen in Rashmi Rocket, is known for her strong female characters on screen. However, in 2017, she was one of the female leads in David Dhawan's Judwaa 2 opposite Varun Dhawan. The actress played a glamorous role in the hit film and was seen donning a bikini as well. Before the release of Judwaa 2 in 2017, Taapsee posted a few bikini pictures in which she was seen posing on a beach wearing a floral two piece.   
    Sharing the pictures with fans on Twitter, she wrote, "When you are against the tide, it's YOU who needs to stand up for yourself...But don't forget the smile".

    While Taapsee's fans complimented her, trollers attacked the post with some strange comments. A troll in Hindi said, "If our country gives you freedom of expression, then why are you wearing this, take it off. Your brother will feel proud to see that".

    The comment obviously didn’t go well with Taapsee who gave a befitting reply to the troller. She said, "Sorry Bhai hai nahi varna pakka puch kar bataati. Abhi ke liye behan ka answer chalega".

    Well, that was sassy! Soon, the troller deleted his tweet. He wasn't the only person who got a reaction from the Naam Shabana actress. Even now, she expresses her views on Twitter strongly and without any filter.  
    For the unversed, Judwaa 2 was a sequel to David Dhawan's 1997 hit Judwaa featuring Salman Khan in a double role while Karisma Kapoor and Rambha were the leading ladies. Taapsee wore a bikini in the Judwaa 2 song Aa Toh Sahi. You can watch the song here: 

    Ever since Judwaa 2, Taapsee is yet to play a glamorous part onscreen again. Her lineup includes films like Loop Lapeta, Dobaaraa, Shabaash Mithu, Blurr, and Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan.

    2021 was a memorable year for the Indian cricket team, especially in the longest format of the game. There were quite a few memorable moments that gave the Indian fans plenty to cherish throughout the year and brought them closer to Test cricket.

    A huge amount of credit for India’s impressive Test win has to go to skipper Virat Kohli because the way he marshalled the troops was simply outstanding. He struggled to score big throughout the year but he never let it affect his decision-making.

    Despite having a quiet year with the bat, Kohli managed to break several captaincy records throughout the year. Same was the case when India defeated South Africa by 113 runs in the Boxing Day Test in Centurion.

    There is a common notion that Kohli has a poor record when it comes to the flip of the coin but the stats tell a completely different story. To many people’s surprise, after he won the toss in Centurion, Kohli surpassed Mohammed Azharuddin to win the most number of tosses for India in Test cricket. Of the 68 matches Kohli has led India in, he has won 30 tosses, while Azharuddin won 29 tosses in 47 Tests.

    Prior to this Test match, Kohli was already India’s most successful Test captain but he entered an elite list of leaders after his side registered a historic win in Centurion. He became the first India captain to guide the country to 40 Test wins. Besides Kohli, only three more players Graeme Smith (53), Ricky Ponting (48), and Steve Waugh (41) have won 40 or more Test matches while leading the side.

    With this victory, Kohli also became the only Indian skipper to win more than one Test match in South Africa.     Another unique record that Kohli created by winning the Centurion Test is that he became the only Indian captain to win more than one Boxing Day Tests. Kohli won his first Boxing Day Test match as a captain at the Melbourne Cricket Ground against Australia in 2018.

    Often it happens that whenever a filmmaker casts a star kid in their film, they try to cash in on their legendary father’s name. 
    Sometimes, they use a similar tune, for example, Jackie Shroff’s Hero theme was used in Tiger Shroff’s Heropanti, or feature a reference to their father’s iconic work, like Aamir Khan referring to Sholay and joking it was made by Salman’s father in Andaz Apna Apna. 
    However, there are also a few times when filmmakers used the same title for a star kid that once featured their father. 
    Here are 9 instances when star kids and their fathers starred in two different films with the same title:   
    1. Dostana © Dharma Productions
    In 1980, Amitabh Bachchan starred alongside Shatrughan Sinha in producer Yash Johar’s Dostana directed by Raj Khosla. 

    28 years later, in 2008 Amitabh Bachchan’s son Abhishek Bachchan did a film with the same title produced by Yash Johar’s son Karan Johar. The movie was helmed by Tarun Mansukhani.

    Apart from the title, the plot of the two films was as different as chalk and cheese. While Dostana (1980) was a masala actioner, the 2008 film was a romantic comedy.

    In 1971, Vinod Khanna starred in Elaan alongside Vinod Mehra. The movie was helmed by K Ramanlal. In 2005, Vinod’s elder son Rahul Khanna starred in a film with the same title helmed by Vikram Bhatt.

    The 2005 film was a Sholay rip-off also starring John Abraham, Arjun Rampal, Ameesha Patel, Lara Dutta and Mithun Chakraborty.

    In 1971, Vinod Khanna also starred in a film titled Hungama directed by SM Abbas. In 2003, his younger son Akshaye Khanna also did a film titled Hungama directed by Priyadarshan.

    Both the films belonged to the comedy genre with the 2003 film attaining a cult following. 

    4. Aap Ki Khatir © Indu Pictures
    In 1977, Vinod Khanna starred in a film titled Aap Ki Khatir directed by Sudhendhu Roy. In 2006, Akshaye Khanna starred in a film of the same name alongside Priyanka Chopra and Suniel Shetty.

    Another Akshaye Khanna film that took its title from a previous Vinod Khanna movie. In 1995, Vinod Khanna featured alongside Ajay Devgn in Hulchul directed by Anees Bazmee. 

    9 years later, Akshaye Khanna featured in Priyadarshan's cult hit Hulchul.

    The movie also starred Kareena Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Suniel Shetty and Jackie Shroff among others.

    In 2009, Saif Ali Khan starred alongside Deepika Padukone in Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal. The romantic comedy was one of the biggest hits of the year.

    11 years later, Imtiaz Ali made another Love Aaj Kal, this time starring Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan alongside Kartik Aaryan and Randeep Hooda. 

    However, the new Love Aaj Kal failed to make a mark at the box office. 
    7. Dillagi © Bikramjeet Films
    In 1978, Dharmendra starred in a film titled Dillagi alongside Hema Malini. The romantic comedy was directed by Basu Chatterjee.

    In 1999, Dharmendra’s elder son, Sunny Deol made his directorial debut with a film of the same name. He also starred in it alongside his younger brother Bobby Deol. Unfortunately, the film failed at the box office. 

    8. Teesri Aankh © Mukherjee Film Syndicate Pvt Ltd
    In 1982, Subodh Mukherjee directed a film titled Teesri Aankh starring Dharmendra and Shatrughan Sinha. In 2006, Dharmendra’s elder brother Sunny Deol starred in a thriller titled Teesri Aankh: The Hidden Camera.

    9. Insaan  © Mukesh Movies Pvt Ltd
    In 1982, Jeetendra starred alongside Vinod Khanna in a film titled Insaan. The film was directed by Narendra Bedi. 23 years later, in 2005 Jeetendra’s son Tusshar Kapoor featured in a film with the same title.

    Whether it is learning to play the guitar or getting a PhD that you’ve been putting off for forever, you’ll definitely be inspired to finally take it up in the new year. 
    4. Dil Dhadakne Do
    Whether it is breaking off a loveless marriage or coming clean to your desi parents about chasing your dream instead of doing what they want you to do, this film is full of life lessons about courage aka all you’d need to start your new year with. 
    5. Lakshya
    The title of the movie says it all.  
    If you are struggling to come up with a resolution for the new year, you need to watch this film to get inspired and have that go-getter attitude like Karan Shergill, an aimless student who joins the Indian Army and fights the Kargil War. 
    6. Queen
    Every time we watch this movie, we get an adrenaline rush to get out of our comfort zone, go on a solo trip and do things we have never done before.  
    Rani exploring Paris on her own, making new friends on the way and coming back all confident and strong, proves that a break-up isn’t the end of the world.  
    For those recently single, this is a must-watch to kickstart the new year.

    The year 2020 and 2021 have been two of the worst ones for Hindi films in the history of Indian cinema. 
    While 2020 started with a bang in the form of Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, it all went downhill from there as theatres across the country were shut down due to coronavirus. 
    By late 2020 and early 2021, several Hindi films tried to revive theatres but all failed miserably. After more than a year of theatres suffering, all hopes were pinned on Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi. 
    The movie was released during Diwali weekend and rocked the box office. However, the other releases that followed failed to bring the audience to theatres. 
    Besides Sooryavanshi, the only two films that worked in Hindi markets were Hollywood blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hindi dubbed Telugu film, Pushpa. 
    It was expected that 83 will do what Sooryavanshi did last month but the Ranveer Singh starrer bombed at the box office despite receiving positive reviews. 
    With the Omicron variant of coronavirus now spreading across the country, theatres in Delhi are once again shut, which led to the makers of Jersey postponing their film. 
    While the year 2021 is ending on a low note for Hindi films, the year 2022 is expected to bring back the lost glory of theatrical viewing. (Note: Dubbed Hindi films like RRR and KGF 2 are not included in this list.)
    Here is a look at 6 Hindi films that are sure to help Bollywood bounce back in 2022: 
    1. Laal Singh Chaddha © Aamir Khan Productions
    An official remake of multiple Academy Award-winning Hollywood film Forrest Gump, Laal Singh Chaddha marks Aamir Khan’s return to the big screen after the all-time blockbuster Dangal in 2016. In between, he was only seen in an extended cameo in Secret Superstar. 

    Directed by Advait Chandan, Laal Singh Chaddha also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, Manav Vij and marks Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya’s Bollywood debut. 
    Reportedly, the movie also features a cameo by Shah Rukh Khan. The film is slated for April 14, 2022 release. 
    2. Cirkus © Reliance Entertainment
    Rohit Shetty is one of the biggest and the most successful directors in Hindi cinema currently. After Sooryavanshi, Cirkus is his next offering and is carrying a huge buzz around it. 

    Starring Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Pooja Hegde and Varun Sharma, Cirkus is based on William Shakespeare's play The Comedy of Errors.
    Cirkus is expected to hit the screens on July 15, 2022. 
    3. Adipurush © T Series
    After the mega-success of the Baahubali series and Saaho, Om Raut’s Adipurush marks Prabhas’ full-fledged Bollywood venture. Based on the Ramayana, the movie also stars Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh and Saif Ali Khan. 

    The grand spectacle is slated for release on August 11, 2022. 
    4. Brahmastra © Dharma Productions
    Touted to be the biggest Hindi film made in recent times in terms of scale as well as budget, Brahmastra stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead roles. 

    Backed by Karan Johar and directed by Ayan Mukerji, Brahmastra is expected to break the box office upon its release. 
    Brahmastra Part One - Shiva will release on September 9, 2022. 
    5. Pathan © TOI
    This film is technically still unannounced but the hype around it is unparalleled. Marking Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback in a big way after the failure of Zero, Pathan is directed by Siddharth Anand of War fame.  

    Moreover, the movie is a part of Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe also featuring Salman Khan’s Tiger from Tiger franchise and Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir from War. 
    Also starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham and featuring a cameo by Salman Khan as Tiger, the release date of Pathan is still not announced yet. But is expected to release either around Gandhi Jayanti or Diwali.

    Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan will tie into Salman Khan’s Tiger 3. The movie is helmed by Maneesh Sharma and also stars Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi. 

    Since it is part of YRF’s Spy Universe, Tiger 3 will also feature a cameo by Shah Rukh Khan as Pathan. 
    The release of Tiger 3 isn’t announced yet but Salman recently hinted that it may hit the big screens around Christmas 2022.

    Content, for instance, will always find a way to be there whether or not we are here and that means even the oldest and most embarrassing videos don’t get wiped out from the internet.

    An interview of the two actors, who were also rumoured to be dating a couple of years ago, surfaced on Reddit where the two actors could be seen promoting their movie - Jagga Jasoos, which went on to be a big flop at the blockbuster.

    During one such promotional event, actress Katrina Kaif was asked to name one quality that the Saawariya actor has that no one else from Bollywood would. And her answer wasn’t one that we could’ve guessed!

    After what seemed like a year-long pause, where the actress tried hard to think of even one quality that made Ranbir Kapoor different from his contemporaries, Katrina finally came up with an answer, which too wasn’t more than a back-handed compliment. 

    She said, “A voracious appetite for Instagram, whilst on set”. But that wasn’t even the point. Because by this time, all we could think about was the very long pause that the actress took to even come up with this, and honestly, we don’t know if it was genuine or on purpose!
