Since everyone in the country is obsessed with Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif at the moment, waiting to get some sort of photographic proof of the overly advertised wedding that is allegedly taking place in Rajasthan today, we thought it would be befitting to pick a movie today that was as bizarre as the entire controversy surrounding the two.
© Tips Industries Limited
So, we chose ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’, because people deserve to know what not to waste their time on. Pun intended.
© Tips Industries Limited
In simple words, if David Dhawan’s slapstick comedy and Sura Barjatya’s romantic melodrama were ever to have a love child, it would be strikingly similar to this movie here, because ‘original’ was definitely not one of the qualities Rajkumar Santoshi was going for while making the film.
© Tips Industries Limited
The movie starts with a journalist conversing with a statue, because VFX, who then begins narrating the most unoriginal and done to death romantic story of one Prem (Ranbir Kapoor) and Jenny (Katrina Kaif).
© Tips Industries Limited
So, Prem is a free-loader and a people-pleaser and most importantly - a bad son (because he doesn’t believe in running his dad’s business. Typical Bollywood), which is an ironic combination because while he seeks to make everyone happy he seldom ever accomplishes considering he is still unemployed and doesn’t help out his family at all. Way to be the president for the Happy Club.
© Tips Industries Limited
He and his posse of friends embark on a mission to unite two lovers, which they successfully do, while bumping into Jennifer Pinto aka Jenny.
© Tips Industries Limited
The two get on a bad start especially after Prem stammers in front of Jenny... moments after she does too. Leading her to think that he was mocking her disability. Of course, he wasn’t, but that didn’t make the scene any less uncomfortable for all the viewers who actually did stammer.
© Tips Industries Limited
Sooner or later they reconcile and Prem starts falling for her like the tempo of the film, which, by this point, is being sustained only through a few genuinely funny moments.
© Tips Industries Limited
Also, Sallu bhai makes a cameo as...himself, because where there is Katrina, there is Salman. Or at least there was.
© Tips Industries Limited
Except, for in Rajasthan, of course...
© Tips Industries Limited
As soon as Prem gathers the courage to tell Jenny he has the hots for her, Jenny does what every woman has done in her life - friendzone him.
Breaking the news and his heart, Jenny tells him how she is in love with her college-mate Rahul Jalan (Upen Patel). However, their families weren’t in favour of them getting married, which is where Prem stepped in.
© Tips Industries Limited
Sensing some light at the end of this friendzoned tunnel, Prem tries to unite the two lovers, hoping he might just get something in return.
© Tips Industries Limited
A lot of drama and sexist instances later where the guy’s family kept expecting Jenny to make all the sacrifices from pretending to be a runaway bride to putting up a show for his political family just for good optics, Jenny realises that Rahul might not be the guy for him.
© Tips Industries Limited
But no worries for her, because Prem was always kept in the pipeline as an option, and when the time came, he was availed and how.
© Tips Industries Limited
Jenny leaves Rahul for Prem and the entire town rejoices at their wedding, including Prem’s parents who, up until now, took him as a useless son, but now that he’s managed to get a girl, he’s a star. Sure.

Ayushmann Khurrana is one star who just one day walked into Bollywood, and it was a perfect match!
I mean, for people who have tracked his progress from becoming the first Roadie to becoming a video jockey, to later starring in films, Ayushmann is a complete entertainment package.
© MTV
Talk about singing, being charming, acting talent, and that million-dollar 'I'll steal your girlfriend' smile, the Punjabi Munda has it all.
On top of that, he's proved that not only is he a great actor, but he's also a really versatile one, who can take risks by doing all sorts of coming-of-age films and still make the audiences across India connect to it.
This is the Ayushmann we know ever since he made his debut in Vicky Donor.
© Prime Video
However, did you know that once a Bollywood director said a terrible thing to him
Why? Because he refused to do his film.
This is what Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui actor revealed while speaking to RJ Siddharth Kannan.
After having the perfect debut with Vicky Donor, Ayushmann was in a zone where some of his films like Nautanki Saala, Bewakoofiyaan, and Hawaizaada, just did not work.
He reveals that having seen that, he obviously wanted to be more choosy, and therefore was very selective about which films he wanted to do.
It was then, when he said no to a particular film, the response that he got from the director completely shocked him.
“One of the filmmakers told me, ‘Ayushmann, you don’t sell.’ I had said no to a film and I was told, ‘Ayushmann, you don’t sell, why are you saying no to this film?’ Upkaar jaise kar rahe ho, ki yeh film kar lo (It was like he was doing me a favour by offering me the film),” Ayushmann said.
Now, that really is some horrible thing to say to an actor who is obviously not in a good space of his career.
Fortunately for Ayushmann though, the actor believed in his process and chose his next film very wisely, which happened to be Dum Laga Ke Haisha.
© Prime Video
“I waited for two years after Dum Laga Ke Haisha, I did not have a release for two years. I was just waiting for the right film.”
Honestly, if Ayushmann doesn't sell, who really does?

National Film Awards are considered as the most prestigious awards in Indian cinema. Over the years many actors have talked about their desire to win a National Film Award.
Among other actors, Shah Rukh Khan has expressed his wish to win a National Award. He had said at KIFF, “It's really unfortunate and sad, I have never got a National Award.”
While Shah Rukh Khan’s quest to win a National Film Award continues, over the years, the ceremony has seen a few unlikely winners.
Take a look at the list of five unlikely winners of the National Film Awards:
1. Arbaaz Khan for Dabangg © Directorate of Film Festivals
Released in 2010, Dabangg marked Arbaaz’s foray into film production after a not-so-successful stint in acting for over a decade.
Starring Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Arbaaz Khan and Sonu Sood, Dabangg was a blockbuster success at the box office and even received positive reviews.
The movie won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
Arbaaz, being the producer, received the award from the then President of India, Pratibha Patil.
2. John Abraham for Vicky Donor © Directorate of Film Festivals
John Abraham started his career in 2002 with Jism and over the years, despite receiving constant criticism for his acting, has transformed into a major movie star.
While critics may question his acting abilities, his script sense is often on point, especially when he puts his producer hat on.
He marked his debut as a film producer with Vicky Donor starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Yami Gautam and Annu Kapoor. The film went on to win the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment from then President of India Pranab Mukherjee.
3. Salman Khan for Chillar Party and Bajrangi Bhaijaan © Salman Khan Films
Salman Khan is one of the biggest stars of Indian cinema with a dedicated fan following.
The actor is often criticised for being stiff on-screen and playing himself in every other movie. However, a lesser-known fact is that Salman has won not one but two National Film Awards.
He marked his debut as a producer with the children film Chillar Party that won the National Film Award for Best Children's Film.
A few years later, he produced Bajrangi Bhaijaan besides starring in it. The movie won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
4. Abhishek Bachchan for Paa © Directorate of Film Festivals
Amitabh Bachchan started his production company ABCL in the early 90s and produced his first film Tere Mere Sapne starring Arshad Warsi and Chandrachur Singh that was a success.
After several setbacks, in 2009, Abhishek Bachchan took over the reins of the company and produced Paa starring Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan and himself.
The R Balki directorial went on to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
While Abhishek may have been unlucky when it comes to his career in acting in his early days, as a film producer, he did hit out of the park with his very first film.
5. Dharmendra for Ghayal © Vijayta Films
Dharmendra is one of the most successful stars of Indian cinema and has been active in the industry for over 60 years.
The veteran actor has delivered some of the biggest blockbusters of all time and has been a star of some of the most loved cult classics, but rarely has he received recognition for his acting abilities.
He has stated on various occasions how he never won an award for his performances. However, he has the most prestigious award in his kitty that many acclaimed actors and filmmakers still dream of.
For his 1990 film, Ghayal starring Sunny Deol, Meenakshi Sheshadri and Amrish Puri, Dharmendra who produced the film under his banner Vijayta Films won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

Long before Ranbir Kapoor made his acting debut, he and Salman Khan started off on the wrong foot. While there have been many rumours about them being in a perennial cold war but Katrina is not the apparent reason for it.
As per reports, the two were partying at a pub in Mumbai when they got into a drunk argument.
© Instagram
Apparently Salman slapped the actor and the verbal spat got ugly before Sanjay Dutt intervened. Later, his father Salim Khan had to send an apology to Ranbir’s family.
While there was no confirmation or denial about this, the incident was the talk of the town for a very long time. Later, however, Salman Khan appeared in a guest appearance for Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor’s debut movie Saawariya.
Katrina Kaif, who has dated both of them in the past is currently in the middle of her wedding with actor Vicky Kaushal in Rajasthan right now.

Bollywood has its own logic. It defies physics, creates impossible scenarios and exaggerates everything.
However, sometimes it gets a bit too much to handle.
We can still make peace with illogical plots and make-believe things that never happen in real life, but it gets annoying when the main characters of the movie are so dumb they make us think what are they high on?
© T-Series
Some movies disappoint us with their exceptionally dumb ending, while some leave us with characters who should go through school all over again.
Honestly, even a kindergarten student would be smarter than these grown-up adults with no brains.
© Rajshri Productions
Here are some of the most brainless characters we have seen in movies who make us facepalm hard:
1. Rahul Raichand- Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham © Dharma Productions
From popping the question to his lady love at the most awkward moment (her father’s funeral) to not recognising his own brother (he just lost some kilos, didn’t have freaking plastic surgery), Rahul was really dumb for a protagonist.
The daijaan recognised him sooner than his own brother did.
2. Preeti Sikka- Kabir Singh © T-Series
This girl has no lines of her own and no opinions either.
She falls for her senior in college who basically harasses her and everyone in sight. Next, she refuses to reach out to her ex who got her pregnant.
She also throws off her career in medicine because of a toxic boyfriend, who BTW becomes a surgeon.
3. Jai Dixit- Dhoom Series © Yash Raj Films
In a film, that also stars Uday Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan’s character is still the dumbest.
Apart from being the worst and utterly incompetent cop in history, Jai Dixit is pretty dumb too.
He is tricked by the criminals who he repeatedly fails to catch. And, even when he catches them, he sets them free just because? Jai Dixit, you had one job!
4. Taani- Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi © Yash Raj Films
How stupid do you have to be to not recognise your own husband?
She serves dinner to Suri and the next day dances with the moustache-less version of him and doesn’t even notice he looks exactly the same.
The entire movie gets over and she still doesn’t realise until Suri does the dance routine in his original clothes.
5. Everyone- Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon © Rajshri Productions
So, these people invite anyone named Prem and set their daughter up with him. Even Prem doesn’t feel the need to mention his boss who’s also named Prem sent him in his place.
Everyone is so clueless in this film that picking one dumb character would be unfair to the rest of them.

Now that the selectors have cleared the air over India’s white-ball captaincy, Rohit Sharma has a huge task at his end. With two ICC events lined up in the next couple of years, he doesn’t have much time to experiment things.
The only reason why the selectors have made the ‘Hitman’ in charge of the limited-overs side is because they want him to deliver the silverware. Even Rohit is aware that expectations are high and he had already started making plans about how to go about things in the build-up to the tournament.
© Twitter BCCI
While this year’s T20 World Cup was an anomaly where the Men In Blue were knocked out in the group stage, their biggest problem in the past has been that despite dominating in the group stage they, for some reason, fail to repeat the same performance in the knock-out stage.
This happened in the 2015 ODI World Cup, 2017 Champions Trophy, 2016 World T20, 2019 ODI World Cup and the 2021 WTC final. Things seem under control only when the top-order is firing but whenever they fail in crucial games, the batting unit crumbles like a pack of cards.
© Twitter BCCI
The 34-year-old leader feels that it will be important for the players to prepare for such situations and learn how to turn the tide in the team’s favour despite being pushed against the ball by the opposition bowlers.
Rohit said going forward one of the main areas of focus would be to challenge the middle-order players to “prepare for the worst”. They should not panic in tense situations and find ways to steady the ship, especially when they are put under the pump by the opposition.
“I want players to prepare for the worst, like 10 for 3 in the semi or final or in group stage of ICC tournaments - what we will do - that is what we will prepare for that in next 1 year - how our middle order going to react,” Rohit said on ‘Backstage with Boria’ show on YouTube.
One of the reasons why India lost the opening two matches against Pakistan and New Zealand in the 2021 T20 World Cup was because our openers fell pretty cheaply inside the Powerplay and the whole team couldn’t recover from that.
© Twitter BCCI
From the 2003 World Cup to this year’s mega event in the UAE, whenever India have lost a big knock-out match, the pattern has been the same.
It’s great that Rohit knows what needs fixing but the problem is to solve this issue our top-order batters need to fold cheaply and no one can ensure this. The players can be presented with various match-like scenarios during the practice sessions and asked to bat accordingly but there’s a reason why they say batting in the nets and batting in a real match is a completely different ball game.
Rohit’s comments created a huge ruckus on social media, with fans fighting amongst each other. Those favouring him praised the Mumbai Indians skipper for his foresightedness and preparing for the worst so that team doesn’t crumble in the real match.
Trophy is coming guys.... relax
— YouAreWrong (@huihui_____) December 9, 2021This is very true tbh.
— Tweets of Sanju Manju (@PinkTurds) December 9, 2021Well said rohit. Come on guys lets back him. I am also a virat fan. But what he is was spot on. Let our kohli play his natural game without any pressure. Cuz thats what we need now.
— dinesh dinu (@dineshd62553483) December 9, 2021Those roasting him argued that his statement lacked the confidence of a leader of a top side like India. Some even commented that instead of asking others to “prepare for the worst”, he should focus on preparing himself to not give up his wicket cheaply.

— Bhargav (@Bhargavr16) December 9, 2021Omgself troll pro max.
That means you are sure you gonna score flat 0 in knockouts .Good leadership quality.Straigh away saying I'm gonna be chicken dinner with 0 kills.
— Vehem :) (@Musafirshreya) December 9, 2021He means to say he will get out again on 0 and middle order should score runs and win match . Chicken dinner with 0 kills . Leaving from front
— Masho (@steyn_gun12) December 9, 2021Rohit’s next major challenge is less than 12 months away and it would be interesting to see how he goes about implementing his new ideas and, more importantly, how quickly the players adapt to his philosophies.

Actress Zareen Khan has been in the film world for over a decade now and being an outsider the amount of struggle just doubles up. Back in 2017 when she shot for Aksar 2, her post movie making experience made it to the headlines.
She accused the makers and the team for being unprofessional and mistreating her. She accused the producers, Varun Bajaj of not providing her enough security and not being taken care of while making public appearances.
© Sidhi Vinayak Productions
According a report Varun Bajaj tried to clear the air and rubbished these rumours doing the rounds.
“Zareen Khan and her team approved the entire tour schedule provided to them two days before the departure. She backed out of all her commitments leaving aside the press conference and a sponsor visit. She did not even complete a day of promotions, which troubled the makers to a point where they had to compensate a huge amount of money and were harassed and threatened till the wee hours of the morning. The bit about her almost getting molested is absolutely untrue, as she left the venue throwing tantrums arguing with the sponsors as she did not want to stay or eat there. She left with four bodyguards and her manager in tow. She sat in the sponsor's car who she had shouted at and had an argument with. The sponsor withheld the key of the car, but the makers arranged for another car and sent her and her team to the hotel safely, after which she left for Mumbai without informing the makers. This is not the first time that Zareen has troubled the filmmakers. She has put them in a fix many times and made them suffer losses”, he said.
The spat got public and ugly when Zareen opened up her side of the story and revealed some stuff. “They wanted me to wear minimal clothes in every frame. Of course I will raise questions and put my foot down na? Why was this masala being added? Were they not confident about what they had made till then?" she exclaimed.
Talking about how the makers turned up the level of vulgarity in the movie, she said “The kissing scenes were increased without any rhyme or reason. I worked so f***ing hard on Aksar 2 and got ill-treated. I am not saying that I am some sati-savitri but the insertion of content was supposed to be by mutual consent. I can take them to court. I have the relevant papers. And now, the makers are trying to save their a**es. I hope I never see them again in my life”.
