The trailer of filmmaker Kabir Khan’s 83 has caught everyone’s attention on social media. Starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Pankaj Tripathi among others, the trailer has been receiving a lot of love from netizens as well as celebs.
While many are already in awe of Ranveer’s portrayal of legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev, there is one Twitter user who spotted a rather interesting and unexpected character in the trailer of the Kabir Khan directorial.
Besides featuring several iconic cricketers of the 70s and 80s, 83 trailer also features a shot of a character based on young Sachin Tendulkar. It is a known fact that 83 is based on the Indian cricket team’s historic World Cup win in 1983, which means at that time Sachin was barely 10 years old.
At the 3-minute mark in the trailer, there is a shot of the general Indian public celebrating the Indian cricket team’s win. The focus of that shot is on a young kid with curly hair. A Twitter user shared the screenshot from the trailer and asked if it was supposed to be young Sachin Tendulkar. Turns out, it is in fact a character based on the legendary Indian cricketer.
The editor of 83, Nitin Baid responded to the tweet with a simple “Yes”.
Take a look at the screenshot from the trailer as well as the confirmation tweet below:
Sachin? pic.twitter.com/0lmD7qmAd8

Yes
— nitin (@nitin_baid) November 30, 2021
For those wondering why a 10-year-old Sachin in specific is shown in the trailer. Well, the reason behind that could be to show the impact of that World Cup win on young Indian minds and how it shaped up the generation to follow.
A day that changed Indian 🏏 history forever!
I'll always remember the celebration & joy we felt with the fall of every wicket and the pride on witnessing 🇮🇳 win the World Cup. #1983WorldCup #nostalgia #TeamIndia pic.twitter.com/GJtTaoFCgc
— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) June 25, 2021
Sachin has mentioned on multiple occasions that it was the 1983 World Cup win by the Kapil Dev-led Indian cricket team that inspired him to take up the sport as a profession.
Check out the trailer of 83 below:
The movie also stars Saqib Saleem, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Ammy Virk, Harrdy Sandhu, Jiiva, Sahil Khattar, Jatin Sarna, Nishant Dahiya, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Addinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa, R Badree and Boman Irani.
Produced by Deepika Padukone, Sajid Nadiadwala, Reliance Entertainment and Phantom Films, 83 is slated to hit the big screens on December 24, 2021.

The New Zealand tail-enders showed great resilience to eke out a remarkable draw against India on the final day of the Kanpur Test.
Interestingly, the duo, Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel (2 off 23 balls), that kept the Indian bowlers at bay for nearly an hour amid deteriorating lights, were both born to Indian parents and showed great defensive technique against India’s quality spin-attack to grind out a draw for the visitors.

Rachin, who was named after two of India’s batting greats Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, faced 91 deliveries for his 18 runs and it was hard to tell it was his first international Test match because he showed no nerves at all.

India picked up the penultimate wicket in the 90th over and had nearly nine overs, 52 balls to be precise, to get the final wicket but the way Kiwis fought showed why they are the reigning world test champions.

After the match, India’s stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane said that the team tried its best and there was nothing they could have done differently to alter the match result.
However, Indian supporters don’t agree with him at all. There are questions being raised about his captaincy and people are not happy with some of the decisions that he made. Some are even saying he lacked the aggression that regular skipper Virat Kohli brings to the table and that’s what cost India the game.
I blame Rahane and Dravid's defensive mentality. Could have played more aggressive yesterday and declared earlier.
— Chiku (@KohliisGoat) November 29, 2021Will repeat again missed Virat Kohli's aggression.!Wicket less first session cost the match.!This draw will hurt our bowlers.!And finally Thank you Rahane.!

— Cric Fan #JadejaFan (@imneev16) November 29, 2021India failed pick d 1 wicket for victory of five days effort with 8.4 overs in yesterday's taste that's shows poor captaincy form Rahane and India really missed Virat Kohli's aggression, sledging, energy... Only calmness isn't part of the cricket. @BCCI @imVkohli
— Manjunath Kundapur (@ManjunathKund14) November 30, 2021Yes definitely "king kohli" was sorely missed

— DΣXTΣR_MΩRGΔΠ (@The_Blood_Guy2) November 29, 2021
Going into the final day, the hosts needed nine wickets to win the match but the Indian bowlers failed to provide any breakthrough in the morning session. They did bounce back in the next couple of sessions but, in the end, it proved a bit too late.
Rahane might say that there was nothing he couldn’t have done differently but some of his decisions didn’t make any sense at all, with fans and experts both painting fingers.
For instance, when the new red cherry was due after the 80th over, he didn’t take it immediately but made the bowlers bowl with the old ball for next four overs, which left Australian legend Shane Warne “very surprised” and eventually came back to haunt India badly.
Very surprised India didn’t take the new ball when it was available !!!! Strange they are still bowling with the old ball as light and overs running out !!!!!! Thoughts ?
— Shane Warne (@ShaneWarne) November 29, 2021
“Very surprised India didn’t take the new ball when it was available !!!! Strange they are still bowling with the old ball as light and overs running out !!!!!! Thoughts?” Warned tweeted.
Will the 4 overs bowled with the old ball when the new ball was available be a turning point and allowed NZ to hang on or it won’t matter and India win ???
— Shane Warne (@ShaneWarne) November 29, 2021
“Will the 4 overs bowled with the old ball when the new ball was available be a turning point and allowed NZ to hang on or it won’t matter and India win???” read his another tweet.
Happy Birthday @imVkohli . Wishing you good health and happiness for the coming year! pic.twitter.com/mg4q8VYvFN
— Ajinkya Rahane (@ajinkyarahane88) November 5, 2021
Also Indian supporters felt that Rahane failed to motivate his group to work extra hard to get the result. Marshalling his troops on the final day to get the win is an art that only a few leaders are good at and Kohli is certainly one of them.
First at the Lord's and then at The Oval, Kohli had proven his captaincy masterclass twice in England. Both those pitches had no demons in them yet India managed to bowl England out against all odds.
© Reuters
At Lord’s Indian bowlers declared with only 60 overs left but finished the match with several overs left. Similarly, at the Oval the Sun was shining brightly and batting became pretty easy but still India produced a fifth-day bowling masterclass to register a memorable victory, coming from behind.
While nobody knows what the result in Kanpur would have been with Kohli at the helm, one thing is for sure that there wouldn’t have been any dearth of aggression and perhaps that’s what India lacked or maybe not.
© Reuters
There could be so many ifs and buts but, in the end, we can’t ignore the fact that Kiwis tail-enders produced a class act under pressure to dish out the best possible result for them.

We Indians are really taking over the world. I mean, be it Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan who gets his face lit up on the World's tallest building 'Burj Khalifa' when it comes to the entertainment business, or Sundar Pichai leading Google, Indians are really at the top.
© Twitter
Now, adding a new name to the list is Indian-American Parag Agrawal, who will now be replacing Jack Dorsey as Twitter's CEO.
© Twitter
It was even more special as Dorsey mentioned some great things about him in his tweet.
not sure anyone has heard but,
I resigned from Twitter pic.twitter.com/G5tUkSSxkl
— jack️ (@jack) November 29, 2021
Quite an accomplishment, to be honest, and here's why you should know these things about Parag.
1. He Is A Genius & Over-Qualified As F*** © Twitter
Bhai! Bachpan me Indian parents bohot padhate hai, and Parag seems to be a kid who happened to be a true Agrawal Ji Ka Beta.
Parag ranked 77th in his IIT-JEE exams and then ended up studying at IIT-Bombay. After that, the whizkid actually went on to study at the prestigious Stanford University.
Also, before joining Twitter in 2011, Parag had been a researcher at Microsoft, Yahoo, and AT&T Labs, something that shows his credibility in heading one of the biggest social media companies in the world.
2. He Is Indian Playback Singer Shreya Ghoshal's Childhood Friend © Twitter/Shreya Ghoshal
One thing you should know about Agrawal is that he's always had star friends. Yeah, that's right!
Parag is actually the childhood friend of Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal. In fact, there have been a few Twitter exchanges where Shreya has actually shown Parag his love.
Here's what she wrote for her "Bachpan Ka Dost" after he became the Twitter CEO.
Congrats @paraga So proud of you!! Big day for us, celebrating this news https://t.co/PxRBGQ29q4
— Shreya Ghoshal (@shreyaghoshal) November 29, 2021
Shreya also revealed that while she is not keen on social media, she still ends up using Twitter. (The Parag Effect)
I am not social in person. #fact But when it comes to twitter, I am just the opposite.
— Shreya Ghoshal (@shreyaghoshal) November 3, 2010
She also wished him on his birthday.

3. First High Profile Indian CEO After Satya Nadella & Sundar Pichai © Twitter
Parag is clearly in some high-esteemed company. He is probably the one Indian that people will be looking out for in the tech world after Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai.
While Satya came to head Microsoft and Sundar heading Google, Parag will be taking on Twitter, meaning that Indians are leading the biggest companies in the world, something to really take pride in.

In India, as soon as you cross the age of 25-26 years, you become the target of an official inquiry held by your relatives, neighbourhood aunties and your parents who ask you when you are “settling down”, a code word for getting hitched. Regardless of how settled you feel in your life, according to older people, you aren’t settled enough until you get married and have two kids at least.
© Dharma Productions
However, marriage is not for everyone. Some may want to travel the world and live freely while some would rather take care of their pets instead of kids. Animal babies are also babies. Young Indians who have chosen the ‘bachelor forever’ life, shared the good, bad and the ugly (there’s hardly any) sides of staying unmarried and child-free. If you are on the verge of giving up the idea of a ‘grihastha jeevan’ you may want to read this.
© Luv Films
A Reddit user asked desis, “What are your thoughts on marriage free and child free life?” further adding, “Personal opinion if anyone wonders: I find it pretty good ngl. I mean even the idea is just so liberating you know?” It does sound pretty liberating. But here is what people who are living the single life had to say.
© Luv Films
They not only shared their experience of living THE life, but also shared the perks and perils that come with it and some wholesome advice for those who are considering the idea.
1. Solitude Makes It Worth It Totally the best feeling ever!! I mean, at first I was just childfree but then I realised it's impossible finding someone childfree and some other few things I expect in a partner, nothing impossible either, tbh. And even better, I love the solitude. I never really want to give up my freedom. So yeahhh, marriage free would be too fun.
© Dharma Productions
2. No Kid, No StressMarried and child free, happy with the decision so far. However, I’ve been losing friends or we end up not having much to share. And of course, annoying relatives. I believe I’d be more stressed if I had a baby, don’t care what people think.
3. Maintain A Balance Solitude is good but there is a time when your social circle decreases because of this and that is when depression and anxieties kick in, so maintaining a balance between your social life and being in solitude is must.
© Dharma Productions
4. No Stress, No WorryIt's the best, stress free, pocket full of money life. You were supposed to live here, so do that. And I'm not against the idea either, but first secure your future to a great extent and keep your circle small. Most importantly, detach from this toxic indian society.
5. Pets Make The Best CompanionsIt probably feels ok when you’re young and healthy. As long as you don’t feel lonely as you grow older and have something to look forward to always, you should be ok. Maybe having pets is a good idea.
© Excel Entertainment
It does seem exciting and interesting but to each his own.

After almost 21 months of delay, filmmaker Kabir Khan’s upcoming directorial 83 starring Ranveer Singh will release during this Christmas weekend. Made on Indian Cricket Team’s historic World Cup win in 1983, the movie will feature Ranveer Singh in the role of former captain Kapil Dev.
The trailer of the film released on November 30 and is receiving a lot of love from fans and movie buffs. While the trailer has been garnering a positive response, not many know that this isn’t the first time a movie has been attempted on Kapil Dev’s life.
Did you know two decades back, a biopic titled Kapil Dev – The True Story was announced on the life of legendary Indian cricketer? Back in 2001, after the match-fixing controversy, Kapil Dev had announced in the media about an eight-part TV series and a two-and-a-half-hour movie to be a made on his life.
He had revealed in a press conference that his biopic is being penned by Anurag Kashyap who had made a name for himself then for being the writer of Satya and Shool. When asked about why he decided to do this film, according to Rediff, Kapil had stated, “My friends, Anurag Kashyap of Shool and Satya fame, and Shailendra (producer) have been discussing this idea with me for over a month and, finally, we decided that we should go ahead and tell everything in this film.”
View this post on Instagram
Talking further about the proposed budget of the biopic and who will play the lead role, Kapil had said, “The cost of the film will be around Rs 4-5 crore and it would be ready by October 2002. The film will be available both in film as well as mega serial forms. As far as the villain is concerned, I don't have to say much on this. There are films which are without a villain as well. As far as the role of Kapil Dev is concerned, I would not let anyone do it, except the dancing sequences which would be done by someone else.”
On being asked about the name of the director who will be helming the film, Kapil had responded, “We are talking to a number of top directors of the film industry. No name has been finalised as yet. The moment we finalise a name we will get back to you.”
Anurag Kashyap, who was also present with Kapil Dev in the press conference, had said that he believes in Kapil Dev completely. “The main content will be - against all odds, this man, Kapil Dev, has risen to the heights that he has. The really difficult part is going to be when we come to casting. I am planning the script as a docu-drama,” Anurag had added.
The movie/series was eventually shelved for reasons unknown. And decades later Anurag Kashyap’s former production house Phantom Films is now one of the producers of 83.

Besides Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, the movie also stars Deepika Padukone as Kapil Dev’s wife, Romi Bhatia. Tahir Raj Bhasin plays Sunil Gavaskar, Saqib Saleem plays Mohinder Amarnath, Jiiva plays Krishnamachari Srikanth, Ammy Virk as Balwinder Sandhu and Harrdy Sandhu as Madan Lal. 83 is slated to release on December 24.

After five days of pulsating cricket, the opening Test between India and New Zealand ended in a draw. However, there are plenty of questions that the India team management needs to answer going into the series decider in Mumbai later this week.
So Near Yet So Far.
The first #INDvNZ Test in Kanpur ends in a draw. @Paytm #TeamIndia pic.twitter.com/dGckU0uBjl
— BCCI (@BCCI) November 29, 2021
Skipper Virat Kohli, who was rested from the T20I series and the first Test, would be back in the side in Mumbai and the biggest point of contention will be who is dropped on the bench.
Ajinkya Rahane, who led the side in Kohli’s absence, failed with the bat in both innings and also raised a few eyebrows with his captaincy decisions.

— BCCI (@BCCI) November 26, 2021
Also, with Shreyas Iyer grabbing the opportunity with both hands, becoming the only Indian to score a hundred and a fifty on Test debut, means that it would be very hard to leave him out of the starting XI.
Rahane’s struggle with the willow has almost everyone convinced that he should be the one going out on the bench but head coach Rahul Dravid feels it’s too early to decide the Playing XI for the next match.

Responding to a query about Mumbai batter’s lean patch, Dravid said they aren’t worried but would definitely like him to contribute more with the bat. Describing him as a “quality player”, the former India captain said that he was confident that given his experience, he can turn things around with one good knock.
“I mean you don't get worried. Of course, you would like more runs from Ajinkya, he would like to score more runs,” Dravid said at the post-match press conference after the Day 5 play.
“He is a quality player and he has done well for India in the past. He is one of those guys who has quality and experience and it's a matter of a game when he would like to turn it around and he knows that and we know that,” the legendary cricketer said.
New Zealand survive and it's a DRAW in Kanpur.

“Look, we haven't decided what will be our playing XI and it's too early. At least, today our focus was on this game and when we go to Mumbai, we will assess the conditions and check people's fitness. Virat Kohli will join us so we have to discuss with him also and then take a decision," he side-stepped the question,” Dravid responded.
Throughout his playing days, Dravid was known for backing his players and as a head coach he is no different. He wants to give Rahane a long rope but many fans and experts believe that he has already got enough chances and it’s time for him to vacate the place for others.

Former India player Dodda Ganesh lashed out at Dravid for trying to defend Rahane despite his failures match after match. Countering his fellow former Karnataka player, Ganesh opined that even a tail-ender can score a fifty in 15-20 innings which has been the case with Rahane in the last couple of years and that’s not good enough to warrant a place in the starting XI, especially when youngsters like Iyer are performing really well.
Even a tail ender can get a 50 once in 15-20 innings. Enough is enough https://t.co/a75WW2qsvY
— ದೊಡ್ಡ ಗಣೇಶ್ | Dodda Ganesh (@doddaganesha) November 29, 2021
“Even a tail-ender can get a 50 once in 15-20 innings. Enough is enough,” Ganesh tweeted.
Iyer showed that there were no demons in the Kanpur pitch and if a player applied himself properly, scoring runs wasn’t that difficult. Rahane was looking comfortable in the first innings but he threw away his wicket by playing poor shot in the first innings while in the second innings his defensive technique was left exposed by the Kiwis spinner Ajaz Patel who trapped him right in front.
A dream start to his Test career and @ShreyasIyer15 is named the Player of the Match.@Paytm #TeamIndia #INDvNZ pic.twitter.com/BHbHwUz6b9
— BCCI (@BCCI) November 29, 2021
After winning Player of the Match award in his debut match, there is no way Iyer can be dropped on the bench which means one among Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara make way to accommodate skipper Kohli.
Irrespective of how much Dravid wants to back Rahane, he and Kohli will have to make a tough call of dropping one of their senior players.

In the trailer, the rivalry between India and West Indies is given attention. After seeing the trailer, you will feel proud of how the Indian team changed the entire narrative. In an earlier interview with Mumbai Mirror, director Kabir Khan had shared about shooting at the Lord’s stadium and said, “We shot for five days at the Lord’s stadium in London, entering the members-only Long Room where no camera had ventured before, the dressing rooms and locker rooms, then, stepped out on the balcony where the World Cup was presented to Kapil sir. And guess what? They brought out the real World Cup for Ranveer too. Overwhelmed, he broke down when I shouted ‘Cut’.”

In an earlier interview, when Ranveer was asked about how he felt when he got the offer, he said, "I was born at the time when cricket was big time. When Kabir Sahab (director Kabir Khan) had come to me and said that there will be a film on '83, I was like 'finally'. And when he was narrating it to me, I was like 'woooh'! It is not a story just about cricket but a human story."
