Bittersweet is the closest emotion that can be used to describe the photo of a father and son, that was awarded the best photo of the year at the annual Siena International Photo Awards 2021 on Saturday.

The father, Munzir, is a Syrian refugee who lost his leg in a bombing in Syria’s Idlib. His son, Mustafa, the child he lovingly holds in the picture, was born without limbs.
The recipient of the award is Turkish photographer, Mehmet Aslan, who christened his image ‘Hardships Of Life’. The image was taken outside Munzir and Mustafa’s home, in the Reyhanli area of the Turkish province of Hatay on the border with Syria.

Kataoka Hideko, director of photography for Newsweek Japan and one of the judges on the panel who was moved by the image said, “The happiness of a father and son, even when a man stands on one leg, is precarious,”

She continued, “My heart, briefly saved by this moment of joyful love, is overshadowed by the long and hard lives they face ahead, a great cost left by the war.”
War is an easy sentiment to process for those unaffected by it. Sitting in our cosh rooms we’re largely unaware of the sufferings of people in war-torn countries.
Munzir was walking through a bazaar in Idlib, Syria, when a bomb dropped, injuring him in the process. The accident cost him his right leg, and he now walks assisted by a crutch.
Mustafa, aged 5, was born without lower or upper limbs due to tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare congenital disorder characterized by the absence of all limbs.
In the young child’s case, his disorder was a result of the medications that his mother Zeynep had been prescribed after exposure to dangerous nerve gas used during the Syrian War. Mustafa will need special electronic prostheses in the future which, unfortunately, are not yet available in Turkey.
Winners of the prestigious photography award have had their work displayed in Siena since October 23.

Shah Rukh Khan and his family have been held firmly captive under the spotlight since the arrest of his son Aryan Khan by the NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau). Aryan Khan was arrested on 3rd October by the government agency after they raided a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast over suspicion of illicit drugs aboard the vessel.

Despite no drugs being found on Aryan Khan’s person, he’s been jailed in the Arthur Road prison in Mumbai since then. A special court in Mumbai has extended the judicial custody of those accused in the case, including Aryan, till October 30.

The special NDPS court had previously rejected Aryan Khan’s bail plea, however, his representatives persisted and moved the Bombay High Court on Wednesday. Aryan’s bail plea will now be observed by the High Court on October 26.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray alleged a special interest in NCB’s part in chasing Bollywood celebrities. He said, "While you're sniffing small quantities of ganja, our cops have seized drugs worth Rs 150 crore". Thackeray then asked, "Is (drugs seizure) only happening in Maharashtra? Drugs worth crores were seized from Mundra Port. Where is this Mundra port situated?"

Taking this opportunity to land a potshot on the BJP regarding Aryan Khan’s case, Maharashtra Minister Chhagan Bhujbal hinted that Shah Rukh Khan’s family wouldn’t have had to face such an ordeal if the actor were to join the BJP. If such a situation transpired, Bhujbal said “drugs would become sugar powder”.

At a time when the nation has bigger concerns to be contending with, like the mammoth consignment of heroin seized at the Mundra Port in Gujarat, Maharashtra Minister Chhagan Bhubal alleged that the NCB, which is a Central agency, has been chosen to harangue Shah Rukh Khan instead.
The NCP MLA retorted, "Drugs will become sugar powder if Shah Rukh Khan joins the BJP.”
The case that the BJP’s political rivals are hinting at is regarding the 2,988.21 kg of heroin seized at Mundra Port, Gujarat. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) confiscated the drug haul on September 16. This case was moved under the NIA’s jurisdiction on October 6.
The contraband was smuggled into the Mundra Port inside two containers and is believed to have arrived from Afghanistan via Iran’s Bandar Abbas Port in the name of Aashi Trading Company of Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
Do you think the NCB is investing the taxpayer’s money wisely by making a scapegoat out of Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan and other Bollywood celebs?

The festival of Diwali calls for upping your fashion game and experimenting with your style.
Before you pick out a boring kurta and pajama set this year too, let us introduce some really cool and breezy outfits that you can debut this festive season (stress on ‘breezy’ because comfort is all that matters after living in PJs for more than a year).
Picking a nice and dapper Diwali outfit is more than kaju katlis. Okay, not more than kaju katlis but you get the point.

You don’t necessarily need to go the traditional way too. In fact, you can mix and match your western and Indian outfits to make your perfect #OOTN that is equally stylish and fit for the occasion. It’s your choice whether you invest in a new piece or upcycle an old kurta and wrapping it with a shawl (that works too, see below),

Here are all the Diwali outfit inspiration that you need this year. Take a look at 5 celeb-approved smart and breezy outfits that you can pick, style or blatant copy for Diwali.

    1. Trendy Yet Traditional © Instagram/Ayushmann Khurrana
Fuss-free, relaxed and uber chic, this is definitely a cool dude’s outfit. Pair your oversized kurta with relaxed fit pants and a floral shrug. Ditch the jodhpuri juttis or loafers for some kickass sneakers. This is also a great outfit to go from pooja at home to the card party at a friend’s house.

    2. Play Up With Prints © Instagram/Aditya Roy Kapoor
Prints are not just for summer shirts. They are the latest addition to modern man’s festive wardrobe too. A printed nehru jacket over a humble white kurta or a short printed kurta can amp up your look with minimum effort. Go with small subtle prints and cool colours to make your own Style Diwali outfit.

    3. Mix It Up With Tailored Fits © Instagram/Vicky Kaushal
Simply put on a summer blazer over your kurta for some extra oomph and a warmer outfit, especially if you belong to a colder region (since Diwali is a winter festival). Style pieces from the same colour family for a monochromatic look or strike a cool contrast with complementary hues. The choice is yours.

    4. Sherwani, But Make It Casual © Instagram/Sidharth Malhotra
A sherwani is a wedding outfit, we get it. But the one that is a bit toned down, unembellished but comes with the same well-cut fit is a winner for Diwali. Pick a colour other than blue, black, white and ivory. Go for yellow, orange or green and keep the rest of your look pretty simple with a white pajamas and mules.

    5. Indo-Western OOTN © Instagram/Varun Dhawan
Not big on traditional wears like kurtas? Or maybe too bored to wear the same attire every year? You can debut a cool indo western style by wearing a solid tunic or round neck shirt (mandarin collar works well too) and throw on a jodhpuri jacket over it. Pair it with jodhpuri pants and you’re all set.
