    Following the dramatic proceedings in the case of Aryan Khan being detained by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Sunday, social media was abuzz with people scouring the internet for more information on the case.
    Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s 23-year-old son was detained and questioned after the NCB raided and detained a few other people from a cruise ship, just off the coast of Mumbai.

    And now, actor Suniel Shetty has come out in defence of Aryan, saying that people must not come down on the star kid just yet as proceedings are going on and it is too early to come to any sort of conclusion.

    “I would like to say that wherever there is a raid, several people are caught. And we assume that this child must have consumed drugs or this child must have done it. But the proceedings are on, let’s give that child a breather,” Shetty said at an event.

    Calling on people to refrain from coming up with their own versions of what actually happened, the actor further stated, “Whenever something happens in Bollywood, the media scrutinises everything and jumps to conclusions. Give the child an opportunity. Let the real reports come out. Baccha hai (He’s a kid). Taking care of him is our responsibility.”
    Soon enough, several people on Twitter jumped onto Shetty’s comments and called him out for defending Aryan:

    Apart from Aryan Khan, the other detainees were identified as Munmun Dhamecha, Nupur Sarika, Ismeet Singh, Mohak Jaswal, Vikrant Chhoker, Gomit Chopra and Arbaaz Merchant. The NCB further informed that different drugs like MDMA, ecstasy, cocaine, MD (mephedrone) and charas were also recovered from them during the raid, which was carried out on Saturday evening.

    Fans of Tollywood cinema, and the industry's “It” couple, are still reeling from the news of Samantha Ruth Prabhu & Naga Chaitanya Akkineni finally deciding to quit their marriage and part ways.

    As if this wasn’t disconcerting enough, they now have to deal with Kangana Ranaut’s rant about the divorce.

    Taking to social media, both Naga Chaitanya and Samantha had put up posts informing their fans that they have decided to part ways in a cordial manner. 

    Although there were rumours for quite some time that things weren’t as honky dory between the two for some time now, the announcement surely was a shock for their ardent fans.

    Note how the announcement requests their well-wishers to afford them the privacy to deal with the situation in a healthy, respectable and amicable manner. 
    But has that ever stopped Kangana from making comments on matters that are completely unrelated to her, and that pertains to someone else’s personal life? Of course not.

    Kangana went on to post a few stories on her Instagram account, which basically said that men are always at fault when marriages end in divorces. 

    She also went on to vilify Naga-Chaitanya for ending a relationship that lasted over a decade and quitting a marriage after 4 years.

    Of course, she wouldn’t name names in her story, but she goes on to suggest that Naga Chaitanya, who has worked with Aamir Khan in Laal Singh Chaddha, was influenced by the “Bollywood Divorce Expert”.

    She also went on to call Aamir, again, not mentioned anywhere in the post by name, as an agony aunt who “Has ruined many women and children’s lives.”
    She is, of course referring to the fact that Aamir & Kiran Rao, recently ended their marriage, after almost 15 years. What Kangana conveniently misses out on though, is the fact that both Aamir & Kiran remain great friends even after their separation, and are in fact co-parents to their son.

    Aamir is also in a very cordial relationship with his ex-wife, Reena Dutta, and has several social upliftment projects with her.

    At a time when people are trying to normalise divorce, and placing it as a better option than having to live with no dignity or respect in practically loveless, dead or even worse, abusive relationships, comments such as the ones coming from Kangana are not just detrimental to the society, but women in particular.

    Yes, she does rightly point out that more often than not, women are judged for divorces. However, saying things like “Divorce culture is growing like never before,” undermines several women who have chosen their self-respect and their own agency over a dead or toxic marriage. 

    If only someone could explain to Kangana that divorce, is not “a growing culture” but a tool using which individuals can empower themselves.

    Some of us are under the impression that only in India, do we get to see or hear about some weird wedding stories. 
    From people getting married to trees and dogs to grooms ditching their brides over mutton curry, we have seen it all.

    However, the gold medal for the weirdest wedding story has to go to an Indonesian man named Khoirul Anam. 

    You see, Anam actually married a rice cooker. Not just that, but after 4 days of “blissful married life,” he decided to divorce the rice cooker. 
    The funny thing is that as per their local records, all of this - the marriage, the divorce - everything, was legally binding.

    Khoirul Anam shared a series of pictures last week that shows him dressed up in a fancy and traditional wedding dress for the ceremony. The rice cooker he got married to, was also decked up for the occasion and was dressed in a white veil.

    He also shared a few photographs of him, kissing his rice cooker, and signing the registry of marriage, with witnesses. 
    For those interested in the details, the rice cooker was from Philips.

    In an interview with a local media outlet, Anam said that he decided to marry the rice cooker as “she” was “fair, obedient, loving and is a great cook.” 

    Don’t ask if or how did he consummate his married life!
    Four days into this blissful and starch-filled marriage though, Anam was in for the shock of his life (read this sarcastically.) He “discovered” that his beloved could only cook rice, and nothing else. 
    Therefore, he decided to file for divorce. Does that mean he would have to pay maintenance and alimony to the rice cooker? (Again, read this sarcastically)

    Turns out, Khoirul Anam is a local celebrity in the same way that certain TikTokers are celebrities. And yes, he actually is a TikToker. 

    His claim to fame is that he participates in outlandish stunts for the entertainment of his TikTok followers. Judging by the stir that his 'wedding' to the rice cooker created, it seems like he did succeed in his quest for viral social media fame.

    Maybe this is the reason why the Indian Government banned TikTok. 

    Good thinking on their part, otherwise we would have seen tons of people getting married to pressure cookers by now.
