Those who started following Neeraj Chopra after the Tokyo Olympics, might be deceived into believing that he became confident only after winning the historic gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
    View this post on Instagram
However, those who have been following him closely while he was rising through the ranks knew that confidence was the one thing that he always had in abundance. Winning the biggest honour on the planet has nothing to do with it.
If you don’t believe us, wait till you watch this old video, where he was asked about the inspiration behind his long hairstyle and his reply, which left everyone with a big smile.

Neeraj first came into prominence after he became the junior world champion with a world record throw of 86.84m in Poland. He surpassed the previous best throw of 84.69m set by Latvia's Zigismunds Sirmais and became the first Indian track and field athlete to set a world record.

    View this post on Instagram
Back then, Neeraj used to sport a long hairstyle and apart from his incredible athletics skills, his good looks also added to his popularity, making him a household name.
The video we are talking about is from the Indian Sports Honours Awards where the anchor asks him about who was his inspiration for keeping long hair, among Ishant Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan.
It was the same interview where Neeraj had asked the anchor to ask him questions in Hindi so that he could understand them properly.
    © Reuters
While giving him two options, the anchor would’ve thought he would pick one of the two names because that’s what any other young athlete would have done. That’s what we call playing safe.

But like we said, confidence was one thing that Neeraj had never lacked and it was clearly evident in the reply that he gave. Rather than picking a celebrity’s name, Neeraj proudly said none of them is his inspiration. He keeps long hair not because he was of someone but because he simply liked long hair.
    © Reuters
“Nobody. I like keeping my hair long,” Neeraj replied as the whole auditorium burst out laughing.

Neeraj might have trimmed down his hair considerably but his confidence is still intact. With each passing year, he has only become even more confident and it reflects in how he conducts himself.

Praise and criticism are the two sides of the same coin and Neeraj lets neither of them dent his confidence. Ever since his golden triumph in Tokyo, Neeraj received praise and criticism in equal measures but he handled both of them with great maturity.
He didn’t let the praise get to his head too much and at the same time, didn’t hesitate in calling out people for using his name to turn the Pakistani javelin Arshad Nadeem into a villain and  “further their vested interests and propaganda”.
I would request everyone to please not use me and my comments as a medium to further your vested interests and propaganda.
Sports teaches us to be together and united. I'm extremely disappointed to see some of the reactions from the public on my recent comments.
    — Neeraj Chopra (@Neeraj_chopra1) August 26, 2021
There is a thin line between being confident and arrogant and Neeraj, certainly, is well aware of that.
Even when certain people made him uncomfortable during interviews by asking stupid questions, Neeraj never lost his cool and handled everything with a cool head and a broad smile.
He is the kind of role model that this country needs.

In his nearly two-decade-long film career, Pankaj Tripathi has had his own fair share of struggles and has also seen quite a bit of success of late. His journey can be documented into a Bollywood movie as it has all elements of humour, drama, and entertainment. There was a time when he used to make blink-and-miss appearances in films before getting noticed in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur in 2012.
    View this post on Instagram
Cut to the present, he is one of the big faces of Bollywood and is ruling OTT. Well, the youth sees him as an inspiration and wants to follow in his footsteps. While randomly scrolling on Twitter, we stumbled across a video of a guy who has perfectly imitated Pankaj Tripathi’s voice and we were left speechless. He has mouthed dialogues of Tripathi’s popular character Kaleen Bhaiya from Mirzapur.
Here’s the video of the Twitter user:
OMG ! Your #PankajTripathi accent is so sexy please say it again. @TripathiiPankaj pic.twitter.com/5WcC3yL7Vl
    — Jayvijay Sachan (@JayvijaySachan) September 29, 2021
We wish Pankaj Tripathi soon gets to see this video as he will surely be impressed by the young lad’s act.
Coming back to Pankaj Tripathi's journey, he says that kept himself grounded, chose not to see the struggle and had a rather positive perspective towards it. In an interview with TOI, he said, “See, I don’t have a lot of sob stories. When you really want to find a place, you can do so even without Google Maps, no? I always tell men to find themselves a well-settled girl so that their home is taken care of (laughs). My wife took care of the household expenses when I was still looking for work. We were very ordinary people with limited desires, so we didn’t face any problems. Even now, no matter how much I earn today, I have to sleep on a 6X6 bed only, so what’s the point?”
    View this post on Instagram
He was asked if he had ever planned to quit the film industry. He said, “Acting was my last option. I had exhausted all plans; if my plan D, which was acting, had failed too, I’d have to go back to plan A, which was farming--something that I was expected to do, just like my father, if I didn’t want to become a doctor or engineer. ‘B’ was the hotel industry, and ‘C’ would be running some kind of a business.”
Tripathi has entertained the audience with numerous projects such as Mirzapur 2, Ludo, Extraction, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors, and Kaagaz. And we really hope that he keeps giving us praiseworthy performances in the future too.

Actor and self-proclaimed critic KRK can simply not stay away from stirring controversy whenever he can.

The man has been known for whipping up arguments and sharing his unfiltered thoughts with the world courtesy of his social media handles.
Actress Mouni Roy has been trending on social media recently after her birthday pictures went viral on Instagram and rumours of her getting married to her long-time beau started doing the rounds.
    View this post on Instagram
Instead of wishing her or probably sharing a compliment or giving best wishes, KRK decided to share some unsolicited opinions instead.

He shared her pictures in a collage and his comment about it that ‘money can change looks’ sparked a full-fledged commentary on Twitter.
Money can change the looks also. See here, Actress #MouniRoy keeps changing her looks. pic.twitter.com/64R2fDBCCz

Maybe she got under the knife to change her looks.

    Good for her.
    — Lalit_Luis (@Lalit_Luis) September 30, 2021I feel she tries too hard to look good..even in her photos n photoshoots...she would have looked best if she stayed natural...its dangerous to do so much cosmetic surgeries..not that it helped she is a good actress would be doing same work anyways..

    — ZAKISTAN 1.0 (@ZakiAhmed2808) September 30, 2021 While some trolls were quick to join his discussion and agreed with how her looks have changed over the years, some people were sensible enough to raise the most valid point, that at the end of the day, it is a personal choice.

A few years ago, when Mouni was spotted at a movie screening, she was trolled for going under the knife.
During Bombay Velvet promotions, actress Anushka Sharma was also brutally trolled for her lip fillers as well.
Mouni will next be seen in Brahmastra starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna in lead roles.

When Ravichandran Ashwin was involved in a heated exchange with Eoin Morgan and Tim Southee during an IPL 2021 game on Tuesday, nobody thought it would spiral into such a big controversy.
R Ashwin fight with Southee and Morgan: Ashwin and Rishabh Pant exchange words with Southee and Morgan in KKR vs DC clash

    See here : https://t.co/HU5x57dBKp pic.twitter.com/WK394HOH8x
    — imRD007 (@im_rd007) September 29, 2021
With the cricket experts like Shane Warne hell-bent on making Ashwin the villain in this whole matter by questioning his spirit of the game, the veteran off-spinner, through a series of tweets, addressed the whole issue and hit back at Morgan and those who are targeting him for not abiding by the spirit of cricket.
    1. I turned to run the moment I saw the fielder throw and dint know the ball had hit Rishabh.
    2. Will I run if I see it!?
Of course I will and I am allowed to.
    3. Am I a disgrace like Morgan said I was?
    Of course NOT.
    — Mask up and take your vaccine (@ashwinravi99) September 30, 2021right to take a moral high ground and use words that are derogatory.

What’s even more surprising is the fact that people are discussing this and also trying to talk about who is the good and bad person here!

To all the ‘Cricket is a gentleman’s game’ fans in the house’:
    — Mask up and take your vaccine (@ashwinravi99) September 30, 2021 What happened during the match? During a league game between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, Ashwin and Morgan were seen exchanging words after the former was dismissed and was on his way back to the pavilion.
Morgan wasn’t pleased with Ashwin for running an extra run after the ball had deflected off Rishabh Pant’s bat. Ashwin was dismissed on the very next ball and as he was walking back to the dugout, Morgan started saying something and Ashwin responded appropriately.
    © BCCI/IPL
Since Ashwin didn’t break any rules, several former India players and experts have sided with the spinner and hit back at those who are questioning his morality.  Among them was former Indian opener Virender Sehwag who called out Morgan’s hypocrisy and reminded him of his own actions during the 2019 ODI World Cup final.

This whole controversy has stretched for far too long than most people anticipated it to be and Sehwag blames Dinesh Karthik for all this.
    View this post on Instagram
Addressing the issue on Cricbuzz Live show, the former explosive opener said that according to him, the “biggest culprit” in this whole saga is not Morgan or Southee but Karthik, because he was the one who came up in the public and revealed what was said in the middle by the players.
“I consider Dinesh Karthik the biggest culprit in all this. If he had not talked about what Morgan said, there would have been no such uproar. If he had said, “It was nothing much, just an argument, it happens in the game, move on,” then it would have come out in that sense only. What was the need for an explanation that someone thinks this or that?” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz Live.
Sehwag further asserted that people started making opinions only after Karthik revealed in the post-match conference that Morgan didn’t think Ashwin’s actions were in accordance with the ‘spirit of the game’.
What had Karthik said?  © Twitter
“Rahul Tripathi threw the ball, it hit Rishabh Pant, and then it ricocheted off that. Then Ashwin called for it and they started to run. I don’t think Morgan appreciates that. He is somebody who, when the ball hits the batsman or the pad, expects them not to run in the spirit of cricket. It’s a very grey area and a very interesting topic. I have my own opinion on it but at the moment I’d just say I am happy I played peacemaker and things have come to a good standstill right now,” the KKR wicketkeeper said at the post-match virtual press conference.

    © Twitter/Dinesh Karthik
While it’s true that most players don’t run if they know that the ball has ricocheted off the bat but every player thinks differently and he shouldn’t be vilified just because he decided to go against the norm.

Moreover, why does only a bowler have to be the custodian of upholding the spirit of the game? Nobody questions when a batter steals a yard or two before the ball is delivered, that’s also a day-light robbery. Nobody questions the batter who never walks away despite nicking the ball, isn’t it against the sportsman spirit?

What Ashwin did was well within the laws of the game and if the authorities or whosoever feels what he did was wrong why don’t they just change it?

Over the years, several films have lost favor with audiences because of the problematic nature of their content. It has led to scores of people groaning and complaining as to how everything is being ‘canceled’ or being ‘called out’.
But before we get into another fight on political correctness, it’s essential to understand the power popular cinema has to shape and influence mindsets.
India’s film-going audience dotes on Bollywood films like an eager child looks up to ‘cooler’ elders for validation and guidance. Cinema’s stronghold on our population ends up with dialogues from popular cinema becoming the country’s go-to vernacular.
This is where Mumbai Police’s Instagram page has been carving a niche for itself. By calling out the misogyny prevalent in Bollywood, it’s raising awareness and educating the youth about the consequences of using sexist language and behavior.
Here are a few problematic dialogues from prominent Bollywood films that they have called out:
    “Preeti, Chunni Theek Karo”
    © mumbaipolice
Kabir Singh, 2019Platitudes have been shared calling out the sexism rife in this film. At this point, it may even feel like we’re beating a dead horse, over and over again, but it needs to be done. There are way too many impressionable young boys growing up idealizing Kabir Singh. So, for the 100th time, a man has no right to comment on what a woman can and cannot wear.
“Tum ek patni ho, tumhara pati jaise chahega waise hi hoga… yeh shaadi ka dastoor hai… mard aurat ka bhagwan hota hai”
    © mumbaipolice
Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam, 2002A visibly hassled Gopal delivers these lines to his wife, Radha. Back in the day, these lines may have passed off as a desperate and insecure character’s attempts at chastising his wife. However, the influence that this movie has had on the general public can be understated. There are generations of men who have grown up romanticizing outdated ideals where a woman’s sole existence is to pander to all whims and fancies of her husband.
“Agar khubsurat ladki ko na chhedo toh wo bhi toh uski beizzati hoti hai na”
    © mumbaipolice
Maalamaal, 1988 Maalamal is still considered a cult classic. This dialogue from the 80s shows how women were blindly objectified; to the extent of sexual harassment being inadvertently promoted under the guise of comedic relief. Conflating appreciation with ‘chhedna’ has also been a go-to trope for many other Bollywood films.
“But I allowed Ayesha to run her business”
    © mumbaipolice
Dil Dhadakne Do, 2015This scene from Dil Dhadakne Do shows how women are still treated as individuals without any sense of agency. That somehow they still need to take permission and then be ‘allowed’ to pursue things that interest them. Right after Manav utters these words, Farhan Akhtar’s Sunny swiftly calls him out over such gender discriminatory notions. A man openly calling out another for such flawed ideas was refreshing to see.
“Pyar se de rahe hai, rakh lo varna thappad maarke bhi de sakte hai.”
    © mumbaipolice
Dabangg, 2010 Salman Khan is infamous for playing emotionally stunted characters in most of his films. Even in Dabangg, no one was surprised by Chulbul Pandey’s physical threats to Sonakshi’s Rajjo under the guise of love, as we’ve grown accustomed to seeing the Bollywood superstar play such characters. Violence in no form is love. And it’s a terrible example for people to be growing up internalizing such problematic ideals.
“When you can’t change the girl, change the girl”
    © mumbaipolice
Chashme Baddoor, 2013 We’re sure the scriptwriters thought they were doing something witty with this line. But they failed miserably. The line basically means that if you can’t change the girl’s personality to best suit your needs, then just get rid of the person altogether, and find another one. People aren’t as disposable as this dialogue makes it out to be. It’s probably not the best lesson to give to impressionable kids
    “Woh meri bandi hai”
    © mumbaipolice
Kabir Singh, 2019 We warned you. This film was bound to make it to this list more than once. We’re all guilty of this one. Growing up as a man, there’s a sense of false pride and ownership that we try to derive from our relationships. By trying to claim entire ownership of someone, we essentially belittle their existence. A mutually exclusive relationship can be healthy, but claiming someone to be your property isn’t. This is where Kabir Singh  falters, yet again.
“Pushpa, hazaar bar maine bola hai kapde dhang se pehna kar. Teen teen mard ghum rahe hai yaha”
    © mumbaipolice
Ujda Chaman, 2019  Chaman’s mother is the offender in this scene, as she criticizes the house help, Pushpa for not dressing ‘appropriately’ around men. People should be free to dress however they want to without fear and ridicule of being judged or sexualized.

It has been 67 years since Tata sons ceded Air India to the Indian government and now it looks like the Tata group will once again own the airline conglomerate. According to BloombergQuint, a panel of ministers have accepted a proposal from bureaucrats who recommend Tata Group’s bid. According to people with knowledge of the matter, the decision has been made but is yet to be made public. An official announcement is expected in the coming days according to BloombergQuint’s sources.
    © Tata Sons
Moneycontrol cites sources saying, "The Tatas have placed the highest bid for Air India,” whereas CNBC TV-18 reports that the government plans to handover the airline to its new owners by December.

Tata and Air India’s History  © Reuters
Air India, then Tata Airlines, was founded by JRD Tata where he himself inaugurated the first flight in 1932. The airline was founded on a small capital of Rs 2 lakh. The Tata archives also quote that Tata airlines was also responsible for delivering the first airmail for Air India. The airline was later listed as Air India in 1946 and eventually started flying to Europe in 1948. Air India was amongst the first public-private partnerships where the Government had a 49% stake while Tatas had 25%.

    © Tata Sons
However, in 1953, Air India was forcefully nationalised, ending Tata Sons stake in the international airline. Air India was later merged with domestic operator Indian Airlines Ltd. in 2007 and started to incur losses. Air India never managed to recoup its losses and remained in debt until today — some say the debt amounts to around Rs 600 billion ($8.1 billion). In 2017, the government started the process to privatise Air India and it seems like the Tata Sons will once again own the airline it started almost 90 years ago.

Once the purchase goes through, Air India will be the third airline brand that will be added to Tata sons’ portfolio. The group already has a majority interest in AirAsia India and works in a joint venture with Singapore Airlines Ltd.
    © Reuters
Tata Group was amongst many companies that showed interest in purchasing Air India as recently as December 2020. SpiceJet founder Ajay Singh was also amongst the bidders, however it seems like the government is opting to go with the Tata Group's bid.

If the deal goes through, Tatas will get control of 4,400 domestic and 1,800 international landing and parking slots. These slots also consist of 900 slots at airports overseas. Needless to say, we do recommend taking this news with a pinch of salt as no official announcement has been made yet.

She was recently seen as a celebrity guest with Geeta Kapur and Terence Lewis on the Kapil Sharma Show. They had come to promote the new season of the dance reality show, India's Best Dancer.
Malaika, who has been targeted for her walk, was hilariously trolled by the choreographers as well. It left the audience in splits. The promo clip shows Geeta Kapur enacting and imitating Malaika's walk with her pet.
Terence then imitated how Malaika poses for the paps as they take her pictures. This act tickled everyone's funny bone, and they were all seen laughing on her walk.
