    After Punjab Kings (PBKS) suffered a disappointing loss against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 32 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), the fans lashed out at the players as well as head coach Anil Kumble.
    The former India leg-spinner was already on the firing point for leaving two fan-favourites Ravi Bishnoi and Chris Gayle on the bench, and after the loss, it boiled down to a whole new level and people bombarded the micro-blogging site with their angry comments.

    This was not the first time PBKS had squandered their advantage and allowed the opposition to come back into the game, as they went through the same situation on multiple occasions during the last season as well.

    The biggest quality of any top side is that their players learn from their mistakes and don’t keep on making the same mistakes again and again.
    The reason why Punjab are lying in the bottom half of the IPL 2021 points table is that they just don’t know how to deal with the pressure situations and it’s the reason why, more often than not, they end up on the wrong side of the results whenever a game goes to the wire.

    Whenever a team loses a game by a close margin for the first time, fans sympathise with their players. But if the same thing occurs time and again there is no room for sympathies and sweet talks and PBKS have certainly crossed that stage.

    The Dubai International Cricket Stadium seems to be their bogey ground because whenever they play at this venue they just find ways to lose the game from a position of strength.
    “It's sort of becoming a bit of a pattern for us, especially as soon as we get to Dubai, it seems. There was a clear message saying we need to finish this game in 19 overs, and that was the approach,” Kumble said at the post-match press conference.

    “Unfortunately, we let it till the end, and in the last couple of balls it becomes a lottery (with) a new batsman going in, it is a bit of lottery,” he said.

    The people were more frustrated because last week several media reports had claimed that Kumble is BCCI’s first-choice to replace Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Indian cricket team after the 2021 T20 World Cup.

    Fans believe that since taking over as the head coach duties at the Mohali-based outfit, he hasn’t done anything to suggest that he could be a great fit for the Indian team. In fact, some of the decisions he has made, including regarding team selections, have been difficult to digest.

    For example, young leg-spinner Bishnoi was the standout bowler for Punjab in the last IPL, picking up 12 wickets in 14 games, similarly, Gayle had also proven his worth in the latter half of the tournament last year but Kumble decided to leave both of them out of the Playing X against RR on Tuesday.

    Kumble was one of the biggest match-winners India ever had and also led the side fairly well in the longest format late in his career but that doesn’t guarantee he would be a great coach as well. 

    To put it mildly, his performance as a head coach has nothing to write home about.

    Deathloop, as the name suggests is the most accurate description you will get of Arkane’s latest game. It’s a world stuck in a loop where you die a lot. Dying a lot is a common theme in roguelike games but Deathloop doesn’t exactly fit in that genre. It sure does borrow a lot of mechanics from roguelike games but it’s still an action-adventure shooter that manages to differentiate itself from other shooters. 
    Deathloop: Story, Gameplay and MechanicsYou play as Colt Vahn, who washes up on a beach with no memory of how he got there. Turns out, he’s stuck on an island called Blackreef that is stuck in a time loop. Naturally, after you experience your first death in the game, Colt decides to finally break the loop but he has eight hurdles in his path.

    Blackreef is protected by eight ‘Visionaries’ who Colt has to kill without dying in order to break the loop. The eight visionaries are scattered in different parts of the island and Colt has to kill all of them in a single day. While this might sound like an easy task, his path is blocked by many enemies. However, since he lacks information on how to get to any of the visionaries, Colt needs to gather intel about each visionary from different locations so that he can locate them. Information that Colt learns throughout the game is also retained no matter how many times he dies. 

    The best example would be access codes to doors. Instead of discovering the code each time, Colt can remember the code even after dying which helps in saving time. However, this also means that gathering information is essential in order to progress further. I love that the game encourages you to explore your world as having more information ultimately helps Colt in progressing further.

    Being a shooter, most people would assume that you can simply run and gun enemies to achieve your objective. It’s not that simple though, as you need to strategize your approach to missions as certain activities can only be done at a certain time. The day is split into four different periods i.e. morning, noon, afternoon and evening. In each period, you can only visit a particular location and that forces players to plan their day accordingly. Planning your day is essential as you might be able to collect information in the morning or steal essential equipment during the evening. 

    Deathloop in its essence is a typical Arkane Studios game. What I mean by that is you get the total freedom to approach missions, however you want to. You can either stealth your way to the objective or go in guns blazing. True to Arkane’s style, Deathloop is also a very sandbox type game where you can do whatever you want whenever you want. You can approach missions either by scaling rooftops or sneaking in alleys; it’s all up to you.

    To make things even more interesting, you can also gain abilities after killing each of the visionaries. They all carry a ‘Slab’ that gives them special abilities such as invisibility, teleportation or telekinesis. These abilities add a new layer to the gameplay and are most useful when taking the stealth approach. Arkane also makes it easier for players to keep going by placing health pickups abundantly throughout the world. You can also get access to new equipment that gives you an extra life so that you don’t have to start all over. What’s cool is that once you unlock ‘Residuum Infusion’, you get to keep all of your weapons and equipment even after dying.

    Arkane Studios has also added other groundbreaking mechanics that makes playing Deathloop a lot of fun. My favourite being having the ability to switch places with enemies. I often used this ability to surprise my enemies or get access to areas that were being covered by just one enemy. Colt can also hack into turrets and radios which you can use to your advantage. For example, if you’ve unlocked this ability, you can hack enemies’ radios to make them explode. You can also move turrets around as you would in a Call of Duty multiplayer game and are most effective in areas that have bottlenecks or in a small room. 

    Performance Deathloop on the PlayStation 5 can be played in three different modes - Ray-Tracing, Performance and Visual Quality. I recommend playing the game in Visual Quality mode if you plan on playing stealthily simply because it performs well and looks pretty at the same time. However, if you want to push 4K/60fps, playing in Performance Mode is recommended. The game still looks quite pretty in performance mode as well but noticeably inferior to the Visual Quality mode.

    Having said that, no matter which mode you choose to play in, Blackreef Island still looks gorgeous. Arkane Studio has managed to create environments that demand exploration. Building interiors have a very unique 1950s vibe to them with colourful backgrounds, posters and furniture.

    I do have to point out that I did suffer a little bit of motion sickness/disorientation when I first booted the game. I did become used to it after a while but it turns out switching off the head bob option helps a lot. I also noticed occasional hitches and stutters in performance mode which might be fixed in a future update. Frame rates also remain constant most of the time, however I did notice some big dips during nighttime. 

    Multiplayer One of the more innovative features of Deathloop is its separate multiplayer mode. In this mode, you get to play as Julianna, a character you will meet in the single-player mode and stalk other players who are trying to break the time loop. It’s a great take on multiplayer modes as other games often pit players against each other in a team deathmatch format.

    You can turn this mode off if you don’t want to be bothered by other players, however if you like a challenge, I highly recommend giving this mode a try. It can get frustrating for you going against others but the rewards are worth it. Otherwise, you can always try to spoil the fun for other players by sneaking upon them. 

    The Final Say Deathloop, at its core, is a fantastic game that innovates in almost every aspect. With slick gameplay, an intriguing multiplayer mode and gorgeous visuals, Deathloop offers a lot to relish. Arkane Studios has created a masterpiece that could be one of the best games to release this year. If you’re looking for some fun and fast-paced gameplay that has been paired with brilliant design, Deathloop will keep you entertained for days.

    When Kartik Tyagi reached his bowling mark ahead of the last over of the innings against Punjab Kings, he had a tall task on his hand, with only four runs to defend. 

    With two set batsmen at the crease, not many would’ve given him a chance to come out on top but he trusted his skills and had full faith in his abilities. 
    And guess what? When you have these two things coming together, it can lead to something extraordinary and the same happened on Tuesday night. 
    The 20-year-old fast bowler produced a brilliant display of death bowling and eked out an improbable victory from the jaws of defeat.

    He dismissed both the set batsmen Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram and conceded only one run. He was adjudged the Man of the Match and rightly so, because not every day do you see a bowler successfully concede only one run, defending four runs off the last six balls. 

    After the match, various social media platforms were flooded with fans praising Tyagi’s composure and top execution under pressure. 
    Amidst all this, there was one more thing that got the fans talking during the match.

    Many felt that Tyagi looked almost similar to javelin star Neeraj Chopra, who did the whole country proud by winning a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. People began posting pictures of the two to prove their point and soon the micro-blogging site was full of similar posts. 

    Then, there were some people who felt that it was a rather desperate attempt by some people to obtain some likes and should’ve been avoided.

    It was fine till the time they were comparing only their looks but as soon as they started referring to the Kartik Tyagi as 'Neeraj Chopra of IPL', they went a step too far ahead. 

    People were saying things like 'no wonder he bowled great lines and lengths, after all, he looks like a young Neeraj Chopra'. They didn’t realise but they were, unknowingly, demeaning his skills.

    Kareena Kapoor Khan might be a product of nepotism but she has certainly carved her own niche in Bollywood with her choice of films. From making her debut in Refugee to playing the role of a prostitute in Chameli, she has picked up bold themes.
    We can’t deny the fact that it was one of the first path-breaking roles. She was lauded for her unconventional choice and role in the film. She was roped in for the role as a second preference, however, it turned out to be a career-defining film for the actress.


    It was after Chameli that Kareena started taking up bolder roles. The actor was unsure of taking up the project initially as she was apprehensive of how her parents would react to her playing a prostitute on the screen and also smoking for her part. “I had a talk with my parents and they backed me saying it was a bold theme and would do wonders to my career. And that, if I didn’t take the plunge now I could run the risk of getting stuck in the glossy image that’s been built around me,” the actor had stated in an interview.

    Talking about the preparation, she added, “To get into the skin of the character I visited most of Mumbai’s red-light areas at night and would observe these *** workers from a distance from inside my car. I was keen to study their mannerisms, the kind of clothes they wore, and how they talked to clients.”

    She went on to add, “Filmon me zaroor dekha hoga. Leki waha to hum Umrao Jaan aur Chandramukhi hote hain. Sachchai kuch aur hai (You must have seen them in movies. But there we appear as Umrao Jaan and  Chandramukhi. The truth is very different).”
    We are glad that she picked up Chameli as it redefined how actresses from filmy backgrounds can pick such strong roles and prove their acting mettle.
