Being an actor in Bollywood is a fickle, fickle job. If your film tanks at the box office then you’re at the receiving end of vitriol from the aam junta, becoming desi internet’s latest meme fodder. But that can still be contended with as they’re equally forgiving as well, in the long run at least.
The problem arises when your film clicks and does well. Your character becomes a household name, and before you know it you’re getting similar roles from filmmakers around the industry. It’s great for longevity, as Bollywood audiences love a relatable and familiar character to rally for.
But is it good for either the actor’s heart or craft?
In a recent interview with a leading national daily, Pankaj Tripathi confessed in jest that he hasn’t had to work hard for 90% of the roles he gets because of the vanilla-natured brief that he receives from film makers. “I don't have to work hard for 90 per cent of the roles I get (laughs). Most of the brief I get is simple - there's a North Indian man, aur tum apna wala kuch kar dena (and then you do you),” he said.
From Gangs Of Wasseypur to Mimi, the talented actor has created a niche for himself - one that continues to receive widespread acclaim, earning him scores of fans in the process. The characters he essays are usually North Indian men, who are slightly rough around the edges, but are quirky and humorous enough to make it palatable.
However, even good things get tiresome after a point, and the sign of a good actor is someone who isn’t willing to settle for ready-made formulas. Even if such formulas were created by them in the first place, as in the case of Pankaj Tripathi.
During the same interaction he added that even he gets bored of doing the same jig again and again, "Main mera wala kitne din karunga? Kuch apna wala bhi dijiye mujhe?”
Keeping that sentiment in mind, let’s have a look at 11 Bollywood actors who have been recycling 90% of the characters they’ve played:
1. Pankaj Tripathi He usually plays similar North Indian men with a slight twist that Pankaj Tripathi does best. The actor deserves to have more challenging roles sent his way at this point.

2. Nushrratt BharucchaShe’s confessed to having been typecast as the nagging ex-girlfriend, thanks to her stint as Neha in Pyaar Ka Punchnama.

3. Tiger Shroff He’s ripped. He’s pissed. And he’s sure as hell gonna punch bad guys. There seems to be a hint of overcompensation with all the macho jingoism when it comes to Jr. Shroff.

4. Ranbir KapoorRanbir Kapoor plays the same man-child role in most of his movies. There’s an ease of command that he’s honed over it. He’s also adept at playing the aloof, forlorn creative soul as witnessed in Tamasha and Rockstar.
View this post on Instagram
5. Kartik AaryanHe’s the Bollywood representative of the south Delhi f***boi. Always annoyed with women, Kartik’s characters mostly believe they’re the ultimate victims of women’s “evil ways” *coughs* Pyaar Ka Punchnama *coughs*.

6. Nawazuddin SiddiquiNobody plays the underdog punching above his weight quite as well as Nawazuddin. That said, his titular role in Manto was a refreshing change.
View this post on Instagram7. Aparshakti KhurranaIf you need a best friend in your movie, then Aparshakti Khurrana is your go to guy.
View this post on Instagram
8. Kiara AdvaniThe Kabir Singh actress is at an increasing risk of being typecast as the damsel in distress despite her role as Nanki from Guilty.
View this post on Instagram
9. Varun DhawanOnce a seriously promising actor, especially after his performance in Badlapur, Varun Dhawan is now comfortable making his name following in Govinda’s slapstick footsteps.
View this post on Instagram10. Ayushmann KhurranaThe Vicky Donor actor has to be given credit for picking roles that talk about a myriad of issues. However, Ayushmann still approaches the roles in almost identical fashion. Playing a typical north Indian guy, overtly bubbly, with a localised accent and vernacular, who faces *** or childbirth related crises like sperm donation, later age pregnancy, erectile dysfunction etc.
View this post on Instagram
11. Rajkummar RaoThe seriously talented Rajkummar Rao has a range of expressions for characters with similar narratives. Imagine a guy from a small town, struggling with relationships and life as well, but is enterprising. However, he possesses a redeeming quirk that helps, as he goes through a physical or mental transformation.

After the announcement, people started sharing their opinions. While a few said they were looking forward to watching the movie, there were others who bashed the movie and went on to say that it would be a disaster on the big screen.

I am 25-years-old with almost 3 failed relationships in my dossier and not one of my ex-boyfriends is currently still friends with me.
Of course, that isn’t how any of us intended things to turn out, considering soon after every break-up the only thing we wanted was to stay friends. It was only later that I realised how it was a slippery slope, one I couldn’t build the foundation of friendship upon.
However, that was clearly not the case for a lot of other people I know who continue to be tight with their ex-lovers, hanging out with them as though nothing happened. Up until now, I believed they were more evolved and mature than me.
© Maddock Films
But it turns out, that the trait driving one towards being friends with their ex is much darker, for a study declares it to be 'borderline narcissistic and psychopathic' behaviour.
Both psychopathic and narcissistic behaviours stem from a certain personality and a disorder that makes it difficult for a person to experience empathy, love or even remorse.
Keeping that in mind, a study based on the research conducted at Oakland University proved that only someone who has “dark personality traits” such as ‘narcissism, sadism, psychopathy or Machiavellianism, can remain friends with their ex…
© Maddock Films
A statement that has suddenly put a lot of our thoughts into perspective, making us feel a tad bit too uncomfortable.
Almost 861 people were studied for this research, including their romantic histories. And no points for guessing how all those who were depicted to have a set of darker personality traits were also the ones proposing to be friends with their past lovers.
Here is why that is:
1. 'Strategic' Relationship © Dharma Productions
Experts say that psychopaths often employ what is called the ‘false charm’, to be able to reap benefits from a relationship long after it is over.
This may include keeping their ex around for either ***, money or even information.
2. 'Purely Self-Motivated' Actions © Maddock Films
Since there is a lack of empathy and remorse, those with such personality traits don’t care for much other than their own selfish interests.
The study says their actions are “purely self-motivated”, much like that of a narcissist/psychopath who may ‘not be thinking of the emotional impact of it on the other person’, according to psychologist Dr Paulette Sherman.
3) 'Sense Of Power/Control' © Kunal Kohli Production
It is also observed that narcissists hate to fail or lose and are poor at handling rejection.
So, in cases where they weren’t the ones to end things, they would want to maintain that line of connection between you and them, just to be able to have some control over you because for them, letting go is not an option.
Of course, this doesn't have to be the case with every ex-couple that decides to be friends after things not working out, considering some people stay in touch only out of respect for the love they once shared.

But for all the others, who find their previous partners lurking around and being a little too clever or charming, chances are you have on your hands a budding psychopath!

Fitness myths are lethal for your progress and gains. While we all want to be fit, knowing exactly what to do is a challenge since there are so many theories floating around - some of them true, and some of them absolutely false. This is the very reason we rely on fitness trainers - but thanks to profiteering and little to no proper education, most of these so-called 'experts' are just quacks who are helping in the spread of misinformation and myths as per their convenience.
via GIPHY
To deal with fitness and diet myths better, here are 7 wrong fitness advice bits to look out for, that your fitness trainer may resort to if they're not qualified enough. Please get rid of them immediately if they do.
1. "Stop eating rice." © iStock
How many times have you heard this in gyms and around dinner tables? Absolute nightmare as an Indian, right? The good news is, you do not have to give up rice in order to lose fat or build muscle. Quantity matters. If you stick to your macros and are consuming less calories than your Total Daily Energy Expenditure, you will lose fat even with having rice in your diet.
2. "Give up sugar." © iStock
Now, don't get us wrong, sugar isn't good for you, that bit is true. However, again, the key is quantity. The correct statement is, 'excessive sugar' isn't good for you. If you stick to your macros and stay mindful of overall calories consumed, a bit of sugar here and there is absolutely fine. The bottomline? You don't 'have to give up sugar', unless you're diabetic, of course. It's just a lazy piece of advice.
3. "Drink green tea." © iStock
The only people directly benefiting from you drinking green tea are the people selling green tea. Yes, green tea may have a number of subtle health benefits, but losing fat/weight is DEFINITELY NOT one of them. Stop thinking you can have all the chhole bhature you want and then undo the damage with 10 cups of green tea. Sorry!
4. "Have warm lemon water with honey in the morning to cut fat." © iStock
Sounds good, doesn't work. Also, nothing 'cuts fat'. As soon as you hear anyone say 'eating or drinking blah will cut fat', run. They don't know what they're talking about.
5. "Drink apple cider vinegar in the morning to get rid of excess fat." © iStock
ACV may be beneficial as a laxative or even in case of digestion, but it does not 'melt fat' or 'cut belly fat'. If it were the case, everyone would just have apple cider vinegar instead of working out or being watchful in terms of their diet.
6. "You can have brown rice/brown bread but not white rice/white bread." © iStock
In terms of caloric composition, white and brown varieties of rice and bread are not all that different. If you're following quantified nutrition and sticking to your macros, it does not matter whether you're having the white or brown variety.
7. "Don't have food past 7/8/9 PM because it will make you fat."

Ram Gopal Varma is popular for his infamous tweets and controversies. From time to time, his tweets have made headlines and his recent one is no exception. A couple of days back, RGV’s dance video where he was seen dancing with actor Inaya Sultana went viral.
In a sarcastic manner, he has denied that the man dancing in this video is him. He tweeted, “I once again want to clarify that the guy in this video is not me, and the Girl in Red is not @inaya_sultana and I swear this on American President JOE BIDEN.”
Here’s the tweet and the video:

— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) August 22, 2021After seeing his tweet and the cringe-worthy video, people started to bash the director and said he is shameless as he is dancing with an actor who’s of his daughter’s age. One of the users wrote, “So much enthusiasm at the age of 60, shame on you sir, you are dancing in public with a girl of your granddaughter's age.”
Another user wrote, “Girls like her are the reason why most producers treat the same to other newcomers. Just for a small role in a bgrade movie she has allowed all this then just imagine the terms for a female to lead in big-budget movies.”
Another person said, “I can’t believe my eyes…itna open grope kar raha hai ye banda and why is the lady not even trying to put him away!!!!”
Here are the reactions:

The OnePlus Buds Pro is promised to be the quintessential accessory to own for OnePlus phone owners. To an extent, that statement is mostly true as Buds Pro is the most impressive audio product the company has come out with so far. It seamlessly connects with a OnePlus smartphone, delivers great Active Noise Cancellation and has all the right features one would need. However, there are a couple of things the OnePlus Buds Pro doesn’t get right which, in my opinion, still has room for improvement. Here’s what I think about the OnePlus Buds Pro, after using them for more than two weeks:
OnePlus Buds Pro: Design For what it’s worth, the OnePlus Buds Pro is extremely well built and oozes premium design aesthetics the moment you open the charging case. In fact, the earbuds feel far more premium than the charging case that holds them which I found quite odd. The earbuds themselves have a matte finish on most of the casing while each of the stems has a glossy finish. The charging case, on the other hand, does not incorporate the same premium feel as the earbuds and gives you an underwhelming feeling when you first open the case.
© MensXP_Akshay Bhalla
Having said that, the charging case is very pocketable and isn’t very large in size which makes it a perfect companion for your smartphone when on the move. The charging case has a USB-C port for charging and also supports Qi-wireless charging as well.
When in use, the earbuds feel extremely comfortable to use as they are extremely light. It might just be the most comfortable pair of earbuds I’ve used in a while. The OnePlus Buds Pro also comes with three silicon tips which I highly recommend swapping according to your preference. The lightweight design definitely helps in using the earbuds for longer hours which is perfect for users who travel a lot or have long conversations on the phone.
© MensXP_Akshay Bhalla
While I do like the design, I do have to point out that I did not enjoy the gesture experience on the OnePlus Buds Pro. After using the Nothing ear (1), I can say that I prefer swipe and tap gestures over squeezing the stem for actions. The OnePlus Buds Pro implements the same gesture actions as AirPods Pro which in my opinion isn’t really intuitive.
I also cannot ignore the fact the OnePlus Buds Pro’s overall design is highly inspired by Apple’s AirPods Pro. I would have liked to see some differentiating factors apart from the colour and glossy stems. While I know there isn’t much room to innovate in terms of design, you could still do cool things like the Nothing ear (1) to stand out.
OnePlus Buds Pro: Added Features The OnePlus Buds Pro seamlessly connects with OnePlus smartphones and even shows a pop-up similar to what you see on iPhones. However, OnePlus has integrated features on a far deeper level for OnePlus users. You can access an array of settings right from the Bluetooth menu without downloading any companion app. If you are a non-OnePlus user, you can still get access to these settings by downloading the HeyMelody app. From this menu, you can adjust the level of noise cancellation, customise gesture controls and do an earbud fit test.
© MensXP_Akshay Bhalla
You can also take a hearing test which kind of tunes the sound based on your hearing characteristics. In this test, the phone will play a bunch of sounds at different volume levels and you need to tell the app whether you could hear it or not. Once the test is done for both ears, the earbuds will be tuned according to the feedback you’ve given.
© MensXP_Akshay Bhalla
For the same setting menus, you can also locate earbuds in case you’ve forgotten them or misplaced them. The buds will then play a chime and also show you the location of the earbuds using Google Maps. Having said that, I would prefer if the earbuds played a louder sound when prompted as it can be difficult to hear the chime in crowded or loud environments.
If you’re in a mood to relax, you can use the Zen Mode Air feature and listen to relaxing sounds. You can choose from up to five relaxing sounds i.e. Warm sunrise, Meditation, Summer Seashore, Camping and Iceland. This feature can be activated by holding the stem for about 3 seconds if you have the function enabled.
OnePlus Buds Pro: Sound Performance The OnePlus Buds Pro has 11mm drivers that have a frequency response range of 20-20,000Hz. The drivers are also tuned for Dolby Atmos but only works with the OnePlus 7 Series or later devices. When it comes to sound quality, I found the OnePlus Buds Pro to offer a more balanced sound than the Nothing ear (1).
© MensXP_Akshay Bhalla
The earbuds have more focus on the mid-range frequencies which I found lacking on the Nothing ear (1). The lower frequency (bass) response is also quite decent where I did not feel them overpowering the rest of the frequencies. Having said that, I would have liked the treble to be a bit brighter than it is right now. As of now, the sound on a variety of songs feels a bit compressed that I feel can be fixed in a future update.
This could have been easily resolved if OnePlus offered some sort of equaliser or different listening modeS. For now, you cannot tweak the sound to your liking which I felt was a missed opportunity. I also have to point out that the OnePlus Buds Pro can get extremely loud and do not recommend using them at maximum volume.
While using them at maximum volume, I could physically feel the drivers vibrating in my ears which isn’t a good sign. In fact, using these earbuds on max volume can end up hurting your hearing if you aren’t too careful. I recommend using the OnePlus Buds Pro at 60-70% volume level to be on the safer side.
OnePlus Buds Pro: Noise Cancellation The OnePlus Buds Pro offers three different modes of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). You can switch between Faint, Smart or Extreme from the Bluetooth menu or by using pinch gestures. In most cases, I used the Smart ANC mode as the earbuds would automatically adjust the noise cancellation level acceding to my surroundings.
© MensXP_Akshay Bhalla
I found the noise cancellation capabilities of the OnePlus Buds Pro to be at par with the Nothing ear (1) if not better. It does a great job at isolating external sounds which is perfect for immersion, voice calls or listening to music. However, I do have to point out that ANC only works when both earbuds are in use.
The OnePlus Buds Pro are also great for calls as the microphones do a great job at clearing up your voice. With ANC turned on, it also isolates any background noise in calls which I found to be handy when attending Zoom meetings.
OnePlus Buds Pro: Battery Life The battery life on the OnePlus Buds Pro is quite impressive considering the size of the earbuds and the charging case. Without ANC turned on, the earbuds can last up to 38 hours on a single charge (with charging case) and 28 hours with ANC turned on (with charging case). Each earbud can last up to 5 hours with ANC turned on and 7 hours with ANC turned off. In my experience, I found those numbers to be fairly accurate however you can expect it to drop by a bit when listening on higher volumes.
© MensXP_Akshay Bhalla
The charging case also supports Warp Charge which means you can get 10 hours of playback time with just 10 minutes of charge. You can also charge the case by placing it on the back of a OnePlus 9/8 Pro or using a Qi-wireless charger.
The Final Say The OnePlus Buds Pro is the perfect accessory to get if you are a OnePlus user. With great add-on features, premium design and decent sound performance, the OnePlus Buds Pro makes a good case for itself. However, there is still room for improvement for the premium TWS earbuds and missed opportunities that hopefully OnePlus can address in a future update. For Rs 9,990, the OnePlus Buds Pro is a great value proposition to consider especially when the market is flooded with far less capable TWS earbuds.

You two have been talking for a couple of weeks now. Random texts have turned into full-blown conversations with some substance.
She seems nice and even takes an interest in talking to you. Or so you think. It’s hard to tell, especially since you’ve had experiences in the past where you misread the situation only to find that the woman you had been so actively pursuing was just not that into you.
© iStock
Which is why, this time around, the signals are trickier to read. You wouldn’t want to be made a fool out of again, but you also would never want to be the one who missed his shot just because he didn’t know better.
And before you start pulling your hair out thinking how to navigate this slippery slope of knowing whether the woman you’re crushing on is into you or not, don’t worry because we’ve got you covered.
Here are a few signs that prove she is definitely into you and isn’t just being nice:
1. She Makes & Holds Eye Contact
© iStock
It is often said that people avoid making eye contact with the ones they don’t like. Perhaps that is why, when we do catch someone making eye contact with us, it is a telltale sign of them being interested in us.
Maybe not always romantically, but it is when you find someone holding that eye contact while in conversation, not losing sight of you, things tend to become a tad bit obvious.
2. She’s Picking Up On Your Little Habits
© iStock
A lot of the time, we tend to subconsciously pick up a few habits or words from people we are in awe of or spend a considerable amount of time with.
Similarly, if the woman you're talking to starts mirroring you, adopts your slang words and mannerisms, chances are you’re having more of an impact on her than you imagined.
3. She Laughs At All Your Jokes
© iStock
And by that, I mean, even the bad ones.
Women tend to show more interest in people they’re attracted to and if she finds herself giggling and having a laughing fit at almost everything you say, including the painfully non-funny PJs, then it’s safe to say there is something about you which she adores and it's not your comic timing.
4. She Finds An Excuse To Touch You
© iStock
And by that, we mean in the sneaky/romantic way of making your fingers touch while walking side by side, touching your shoulder or your arm a little too many times during a conversation or even when she doesn’t get uncomfortable when on the off-chance you touch her hand.
These are all signs of her having that comfort with you.
5. She Doesn’t Need Make-Up For Her Cheeks To Go Red
© iStock
When you’re around her, you can’t help but notice her cheeks flush over every little thing you do or say, every compliment you give her.
Most women find it extremely hard to not feel nervous or a tad bit embarrassed around someone they’re crushing on, and it is during this time that their facial expressions will tell you everything you need to know.
6. She Will Try To Keep The Conversation Going
© iStock
It so happens, and ever so often, that while texting with someone you both fall out of all topics to talk about.
Usually, when that sort of thing happens, neither of the party initiates to restart the conversation and let it die. But when one does try to kick start it back to ignition, it’s a sign that they are interested in talking to you and wouldn’t mind churning up new topics every time.
