Six pack abs somehow have become the ultimate symbol of 'peak physical conditioning'. While it's not essential that a person with 6 pack abs is fitter than another person without it, for aesthetic reasons and the difficulty associated with achieving 6 pack abs, it has reached the level where every fitness minded individual, especially men, desires it dearly and will go to any extent to achieve it.
View this post on Instagram
However, it's easier said than done. Building six pack abs is not easy, especially if one is not clear with the basics. Misinformation will make sure you never achieve six pack abs in your life, irrespective of how hard you may be exercising every single day. But that's the thing, right? Some 'fitness enthusiasts' keep trying and trying in vain, while there are some who seem to just nail it effortlessly.
via GIPHY
If you're new to the gym (or even experienced with lifting), and have been trying to build six pack abs for a while but haven't yet succeeded, chances are you might be committing these mistakes. Let's talk about it, shall we? Here are 5 mistakes to avoid in the gym while building 6 pack abs.
via GIPHY
1. Ignoring fat loss through quantified diet © iStock
I'm sorry to break this to you, but if 6 pack abs is the goal, you NEED to measure your food. Caloric balance is the only way to ascertain fat loss, and there is no way around it. We all have abs, at least the basic muscles, covered with a layer of fat. If you don't ensure fat loss by consuming fewer calories than you're spending every single day, you will NEVER be able to see 6 pack abs on yourself, irrespective of how hard you're working, because that layer of fat will always keep covering your abs.
2. Doing endless crunches © iStock
I'm not against crunches, really. However, if your trainer has said something on the lines of '100-200 crunches daily for six pack abs', please change your trainer because they don't know what they are talking about. Crunches will only ensure you're building your ab muscles, but what about the fat on top of it? Crunches do nothing for fat loss, because spot reduction is a myth. So what you're essentially doing by indulging in endless crunches, is wasting your time.
3. Doing excessive cardio © iStock
Stop running on the treadmill for half an hour everyday! That does nothing for your abs. If your trainer has asked you to do cardio every single day for a particular period of time because that will 'help you in fat loss', fire them. Cardio has its benefits, and it does burn calories, but it will not help you if your goal is building 6 pack abs. It will only tire you out and prevent you from lifting heavy, which is way more helpful in the process of fat loss and muscle gain - and ultimately achieving 6 pack abs.
4. Doing side bends with heavy dumbbells/plates © iStock
How many times have you walked into a gym and seen at least 3 people with body fat percent > 20, doing this exercise? You might as well sit down and gossip or be on your phone, if you have to waste time. In other words, STOP doing this useless exercise when your body fat percentage is nowhere close to single digit. No, this won't 'melt' fat or get rid of your love handles.
5. Ignoring the golden rule: quantified nutrition + resistance training © iStock
The golden rule is to eat fewer calories than your Total Daily Energy Expenditure, get enough protein in your system, and lift heavy with proper form. Also, not ignoring training the ab muscles with targeted hypertrophy, as abs are, at the end of the day, muscles, and do require training like any other body part in order to grow and be visible.
via GIPHY
To sum up, lose the fat on your abs through quantified nutrition, and simultaneously work on the ab muscles (along with other muscles) so that they can be properly developed, and visible once the fat has been shed. Good luck!

There’s a lot of money in films. If your career clicks, then you could easily be raking in outrageous amounts of moolah per film that you release. The studios know that allying with the right names for the right film can make or break the success of the product.
Which is why they are more than willing to shell out blinding amounts to rope in the most reliable, money-making names. It may have come to a point where the money earned by these celebrities has less to do with their talents and more to do with their profitability as an asset.
Let’s not forget, for all its romance, Bollywood is still an industry that looks at making profits off their investments i.e. films. And leading male actors are some of the highest paid talents in Bollywood, raking in exorbitant amounts ranging from Rs 15 to 135 crore.
Here are eight handsomely paid male celebrities in Bollywood that make us look totally gareeb:
Salman Khan - Sallu Bhai, as he’s affectionately known by many, is a serial money maker considering the success he’s had over the years. The Radhe actor charges somewhere between Rs 70-75 crore plus a cut of the films' revenues.

Aamir Khan - Bollywood’s very own Mr. Perfectionist is renowned for his dedication to his craft. And Aamir’s decided that his dedication be priced at a humble Rs 75-80 crore per project.

Hrithik Roshan - Part time actor, part time desi Greek God, Hrithik Roshan is handsomely paid for each role he essays. Rs 50-65 crore per project, to be precise. Does that sound handsome enough?

Akshay Kumar - Mr. Khiladi had been charging around Rs 100 Cr for a film till last 2020. However, in 2021 he’s decided to improve his contracts to an almost silly Rs 135 Cr per film. The BellBottom’actor rules the roost when it comes to being the best-paid celeb in town.

Ranbir Kapoor - The talented actor may have gone off the radar in recent years due to his commitments on set with his long awaited project, Brahmastra, but Ranbir still charges a sweet Rs 25 crore per film.

Ranveer Singh - While his audiences are kept busy discussing if he’s an icon or a loon, Ranveer Singh takes home a cool Rs 40-45 crore per film, despite having taken a voluntary pay cut due to COVID-19’s impact on the film industry.
View this post on Instagram
Ajay Devgn - Bollywood’s action hero takes no hostages, only Rs 30-50 crore for each project he’s a part of. Ajay Devgn was recently seen in Bhuj: The Pride Of India.

Shah Rukh Khan - At one point, it was unimaginable for anyone to surpass the commercial hold that King Khan enjoyed in the industry. In recent years though, Shah Rukh Khan is rumoured to have changed tact, and now requests for Rs 50 crore and 45% of the profits made by the film.

That’s a LOT of money that celebrities earn for films. Another thing to note is that female celebrities are still unfairly behind in terms of parity of remuneration offered to them.
Do you think these celebrities earning absurd amounts of money would be justified for long? Let us know in the comments!

*** is good. In fact, it is one of the few things that is good regardless of a lot of factors like place, time, clothes (but never not consent).
And while there are a million ways to enjoy the act, *** also comes with a list of hazards that must be kept in mind for our own safety concerns.
© iStock
One of which would be to keep your instrument functional at all times.
You see, with our country being the land of Kamasutra and almost every other guy aspiring to be a khatron ke khiladi, positions in bed are changed as quickly as Jennifer Lopez’s beaus.
And while that kind of a sexual appetite is usually encouraged and admired, it is also important to remember that not all those positions are safe. Especially for men.
Here are a few positions to steer clear of if you want to come out of her in one piece:
1. 'Eager Chef' Position © iStock
This is when the girl is sitting on a countertop and the guy is hitting the spot while standing in front of her, most likely on his toes to match the height.
While this position exudes spontaneity and thrill, what it also reeks of is caution, because one slight miss at the aim and the guy would find his ***** getting rammed right into the counter.
2. 'Woman On Top & Lean' Position © iStock
A slight variation to the classic woman on top position, this is when the woman, instead of leaning forward and closer to him, leans back and takes support from his legs.
By doing that, you run the risk of bending the dick in the opposite direction and even one slight tug at the ***** during that time could result in a crack of the joint in the base of the *****. Ouch!
3. 'Pogo Stick' Position © iStock
A rather intense and hot position, picture this as when the guy picks up the woman in his arms and thrusts her while bouncing her up and down on his soldier.
Not only does this require tremendous arm strength, but also on the off-chance that the guy loses his balance or the woman decides to descend without caution, you’ll be looking at multiple fractures!
4. 'Doggy Style' Position © iStock
Yes, I am aware that this might be one of the most cherished and enjoyable positions for men out there, but that doesn’t eliminate the risk of your ***** getting fractured if you’re not careful enough.
With all that excitement that bubbles up during this position, if the guy misses target even by an inch, and in that momentum, chances are you will be the one bending over your knees and not your girl...

Among several heated altercations that took place during the Lord’s Test, one that had the maximum impact on the game was the battle between Jasprit Bumrah and James Andeson. After Bumrah attacked Anderson with a barrage of bouncers in England’s first innings, the fight between the two pacers carried on till the last day of the match with Joe Root deploying the short-pitch bowling tactics against Indian tail-enders and ending up paying a heavy price.
© Reuters
After the match ended, a lot was said about what transpired in the middle but nothing had come out of the two players’ mouths till now.
For the first time, Anderson has spoken about the incident and accepted that he was taken aback by Bumrah’s pace when he walked in to bat in the first innings.
View this post on Instagram
Having bowled on the pitch already, the England veteran was under the impression that the surface was slow and he was told the same things by his skipper Joe Root, who was batting at the other end.
“I got caught off guard a little bit because all the batters coming in were saying how slow the pitch was. Banged in short; it was really slow. When I came out to bat, Joe said Bumrah was not bowling as quick as he normally does,” Anderson said on BBC’s Tailenders Podcast.
© Reuters
However, the Indian speedster caught him by surprise and bowled an express 90mph delivery right on target. The England pacer said that no other bowler had made him feel like that before in his long career. He further alleged that rather than trying to get him out, Bumrah wanted to target him instead.
“And then, the first ball was 90 miles an hour and on the money, wasn’t it? And it felt like I haven’t felt like this ever in my career."
“I felt he wasn’t trying to get me out. He bowled an over, maybe 10, 11, 12 balls. He was bowling no-ball after no-ball, bowling short. I think he bowled two on the stumps which I managed to dig out. So for me, it was just about trying to survive that and get Joe back on strike,” said Anderosn, the most successful pacer in Test cricket.
© Instagram Indian Cricket Team
While it’s true that Bumrah bowled four no balls in that over, accusing him of not trying to get him out is simply outrageous because having bowled so many overs, no bowler likes to extend their stay in the middle.
As far as bowling bouncers is concerned, every team is free to decide its tactics and no one should have any problem with that. Instead, they should perhaps take a lesson from how Bumrah and Mohammed Shami dealt with their short-pitched deliveries on the final day and put the pressure back on them.

It has been 16 years since we played the main Psychonauts game which in itself feels like an eternity. When a new Psychonauts was announced six years ago, I was sceptical about the game simply because I was worried whether it would retain its original charm. After playing the very first level, my concerns were put to rest because it felt as if the gap of 16 years never happened.
The game picks up right where Rhombus of Ruin had left off where you and your team capture Dr Loboto during a mind heist. The team is now trying to find out who Dr Loboto was working for and why he is protective of this villain’s identity.
Story and World Concepts © Double Fine: Microsoft Game Studios
If you’ve never played the original game, you might be confused as to what is happening in the story. You don’t need to worry though as Double Fine have put together a spectacular recap of the original game right before you start Psychonauts 2. The opening missions teach you everything you need to know about the world, the mechanics and powers that will come in handy in the rest of the game. You play as Raz, who is an intern at the Psychonauts, a secret organisation that works to keep peace around the world by investigating paranormal entities and psychics.
Once you are introduced to the world of Psychonauts 2 and the narrative, you’re introduced to new and returning characters to get the story going. The initial story involves Raz finding a mole in the Psychonauts organisation and reuniting the founding members of the organisation to keep evil at bay.
© Double Fine: Microsoft Game Studios
However, each of the six founding members has suffered greatly from the devastating battle with Maligula from the previous game. Raz must invade each of their minds with their permission to help them overcome their fears and mental problems. Since the game deals with a lot of internal conflicts, anxiety, and other forms of mental health, each mental world is drastically different from the other. Each mental world has a theme related to things that each of the six founding members dislike or fear.
For example, the first world has a dental theme, signifying Dr Loboto’s hatred for the tooth doctor. Similarly, other worlds explore themes such as a casino or a cooking show hosted by puppets. By now you may have guessed that each world is either trippy or wacky. For me, that was a direct representation of complicated minds that needed mending. It did feel jarring at first, however, once you start getting engrossed with the story, everything starts to make sense.
© Double Fine: Microsoft Game Studios
Double Fine have managed to craft unique worlds that keep level progression interesting, however the developers went a step further. Most platformers tend to make players do the same thing in every level which quickly gets boring and archaic.
However, in Psychonauts 2, each mental world has a different objective and also a myriad of different collectables. You need to collect emotional baggage, memory figments that are represented as neon lights and memory vaults to know more about the lore. You will have to use all your abilities to look for these collectables as some are quite well hidden.
© Double Fine: Microsoft Game Studios
Double Fine also does a great job at introducing different types of enemies that match each mental world. These different enemies are also weak to your different abilities which makes the gameplay interesting. When I say enemies match each mental world, I mean many of those enemies represent different types of mental health problems. The same goes for bosses as well, my favourite being ‘Panic Attack’. To tackle this boss, you need to slow down time and take a ‘breather’, just like you would in real life when you’re getting a panic attack.
Gameplay In terms of gameplay, Psychonauts brings back the staples such as Psi Blast, Telekinesis and Levitation but also adds new powers to Raz’s arsenal. These powers are essential to use for traversing the world, combating enemies and dodging incoming attacks. Psychonauts 2 doesn’t reinvent the platforming wheel, but it does add new layers that make the game highly enjoyable.
© Double Fine: Microsoft Game Studios
There’s also a slight RPG mechanic introduced in this game where you can make your powers stronger by redeeming collectables such as figments and emotional baggage. My favourite upgrade was making the Psi Blast bounce between enemies. It works similar to the ricochet gun on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, albeit a bit more rudimentary.
Visuals Psychonauts 2 isn’t supposed to be a next-gen experience and the game doesn’t even try to be. It stays true to its theme from the original game and presents an art style that is unique. In the beginning, the game feels a bit dreary, but once you progress to the second act, you are introduced to some magnificent levels that pop with colour. The two best words to describe the entire art direction of Psychonauts 2 would be ‘charming’ and ‘wacky’.
© Double Fine: Microsoft Game Studios
I played the game on my Xbox Series X at 1440p resolution and found Psychonauts 2 performing better than my expectation. It ran at a solid 120FPS most of the time even when there were multiple enemies and NPCs on the screen. It was a pure delight to play a platformer like Psychonauts 2 on higher frames for a very smooth gameplay experience.
The Final Say Psychonauts 2 makes a great return 16 years later with exceptional gameplay, bold storytelling and unique ideas. If you love platforming games and want to experience something different, Psychonauts 2 is the perfect game to play right now.
