In 2012, Apple appointed Tim Cook as the new CEO of Apple and since then the company has grown tenfold if not more. After his appointment, Apple went on to become a dominant force in the consumer technology space with innovative products and services. We look back at some of his biggest achievements while he was at the helm of the worldβs most successful tech company:
The Most Successful Company In The WorldΒ Β© Unsplash/carles-rabada
In the past ten years, Apple became one of the most successful companies in the world, reaching a total worth of $1 trillion. Cook achieved the unthinkable by introducing new products, new iterations of the iPhone and more focus on services. Wall Street values the company just under $2.5 trillion. The company made $57 billion in profits with $274.5 billion in revenues last year even though the pandemic raged throughout the world.

Apple was known to offer limited products across its portfolio that included iPhones, consumer laptops, desktops and iPad. Under Cook, customers got more options in each product segment including four models of iPhones. The company also offered different types of iPads for different types of purposes which was not the case before Tim Cook took over the company.Β
Apple also sells two different versions of the Apple Watch which made it one of the most successful products in Appleβs portfolio. Apple then went on to dominate the TWS space with the AirPods, AirPods Pro and AirPods Pro Max.Β
Focus on ServicesΒ Β© Unsplash/giorgio-trovato
Tim Cook also focused on offering services for Apple users that now includes an OTT platform, a gaming subscription, news, cloud storage and music. Appleβs services brought $17.5 billion last quarter, up by 33% from $13.2 billion in the same quarter a year ago. Apart from making the hardware business profitable, Cook managed to create a profitable business in the services space as well which is now being emulated by its competition. To put things into perspective, Appleβs services business is as big as a Fortune 500 company by itself.

After Sushant Singh Rajput was mysteriously found dead in his apartment on June 14, 2020, people couldnβt stop speculating the reasons behind his death and dragged his girlfriend Rhea ChakrabortyΒ into the controversy. They felt it was Rhea and her Bollywood group who were involved in Sushantβs death. The sudden and shocking news of his death made people blame those who were in touch with him before his death.
View this post on Instagram
Sushant and RheaΒ were to be cast opposite each other in Rumi Jafryβs movie which was supposed to go on the floors last year. When the director was asked if he was still planning to continue working on the film without Sushant, he said, βChehre was originally releasing in April last year and I was supposed to start the shoot with Sushant in May. Several producers approached me for that film, saying that they wanted to work with Sushant. Because everybody in the industry knew that Sushant was very choosy about scripts so they thought if he had okayed this script then koi toh baat hogi. Following this, Sushant and I got very close through the process. And I have a habit of writing scripts keeping my actors in mind, be it Salman Khan or Sanjay Dutt. Now whenever I see that script, Sushantβs face comes into my mind. So, I have kept that script in my locker for now. Let some time pass and then Iβll see whether I want to make it at all or cast somebody else. But for now, Iβm not making it.β
He also shed light on how Rhea was called a witch and a gold-digger but now itβs not the case as many people have understood that it was an unfair media trial. It was in September last year that she was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in connection with its investigation of a drug angle linked to Sushantβs death. She is currently out on bail and Rumi has no issues on working with her.

Talking about her presence in the movie, he said, βI have no stress at all about Rheaβs presence in Chehre. It will neither benefit nor harm the film. She has done a brilliant job in the film.βΒ
βAlso if you look at the perception of the media, it has also changed. Last year, Rhea was being called a βwitch,β a gold-digger, and whatnot. And exactly after one year, she was given the most desirable woman award. Now, people donβt troll or trouble her unnecessarily anymore," he added.

Ajinkya Rahane has finally decided to drop the βgood boyβ avatar and hasΒ started addressing or responding to his criticsΒ who do not feel he belongs in the Indian Test cricket team anymore.
Before the third Test between India and England in Leedsβ Headingley Carnegie cricket which begins on Wednesday, the Team India deputy-in command spoke about how he is enjoying the fact that the haters are talking aboutΒ Cheteshwar PujaraΒ and his position in the squad.
View this post on Instagram
"I am happy that people are talking about me. I have always believed that people talk about important people, so I am not too concerned about that. It's all about contribution for the team," Rahane said.
"I always believed in contribution and that contribution was satisfying. You think about your own game but team performance is ultimate. You think about your methods, your good innings and what suits you but ultimately whatever team needs we focus on that."
View this post on Instagram
"The communication was all about short targets and build it on from there. Cheteshwar, we always talk that he plays slow but that innings was really important for us. He batted for 200 balls. We back each other," he said.
Up until the first innings of the match, Rahaneβs form looked dicey as he was unable to put runs on the board and ended up losing his wicket to England veteran James Anderson on the 23rd delivery after scoring a solitary run.

However, it was the second innings in which Rahane forced the critics to eat their words when he anchored the batting order with his steady and masterful batting alongside Cheteshwar Pujara after the top order of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were dismissed for a total of 55 runs.
Pujara and Rahane stitched a 100-run partnership during which the former scored 45 runs while eating up 205 deliveries while Rahane struck 61 runs in 146 balls to not only help India reach a respectable total but also spend the crucial moments of the penultimate day, which could have made the victory easier for the hosts had he gotten out sooner.

"Cheteshwar and I have been playing since long, we know how to handle pressure, how to handle certain situations. Whatever we can't control, we are not thinking about that," Rahane said.

The third Test between India and England is set to kick off from today onwards at the Headingley Carnegie cricket ground at Leeds, as all eyes will be on how the two sides act on the field, especially withΒ how spicy things got during the second Test at Londonβs Lordβs cricket ground.
This is pure theatre and we are only 2 matches in

β England's Barmy Army (@TheBarmyArmy) August 18, 2021
Indian skipper Virat Kohli and England pacer James Anderson have emerged as the biggest rivalry heading into the third match, especially because of the kind of verbal exchange the two shared across all five days of the red-ball match, previously.
And while Anderson continues to talk about howΒ he feels he was wrongedΒ by Kohli and his pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian skipper has decided to play mental chess with the Englishmen, by not allowing them the opportunity to predict how Team India and Kohli, himself will react or behave in the third Test.

β Mufaddal Vohra (@mufaddal_vohra) August 16, 2021
On the eve of the third Test, Kohli shared a piece of his mind during the virtual press conference:
βI can't give you details of the words that were spoken. It was for camera and stump mike to pick that up for both teams. And then we analysed. Whatβs done in the moment, give you extra motivation obviously to get together as a team more strongly.β

β Mufaddal Vohra (@mufaddal_vohra) August 16, 2021
A visible change in the Indian cricketersβ body language could be seen ever since the tussle between Kohli, Bumrah, Anderson and Jos Buttler had taken place in the London match.Β
From putting in extra effort in every single delivery they bowled to showing unfiltered emotions with the dismissal of English batsmen, it was the βextra motivationβ which ended up working in their favour and India ended up taking a 1-0 lead in an epic fashion.
βThe details of which are not necessary to be discussed after (it happened) because when you play competitive sport these things happen but itβs what you do after that situation or how you get up from that situation is what matters. For us, this is a fresh beginning, it's another opportunity to show what we can do as a team,β he added.

While the Men in Blue will look to take a 2-0 lead with a win at Leeds, the hosts hope to tie the series at one apiece.
