“Nice guys finish last”, “girls go for bad boys”, “treat them mean, keep them keen”, are all overused phrases that are often thrown in the face of actual ‘nice guys’ who are neither putting up a show to be liked nor are trying too hard to be who they aren’t.
These are the guys who get punished for simply being their decent selves, because society has them believing that us women would always pick a jerk over their kind selves.
Guess what dear men? You’re wrong.

We have no interest whatsoever in getting our hearts broken by f*ckbois, but the thing about love is, it is easy to take it for granted. And when that starts happening, ‘nice guys’ start getting screwed over. And for that, we are often guilty.

But to make sure that you don’t have to keep losing to the ‘bad guy’ next door or change yourself to simply be taken seriously, here are 5 things you need to stop doing instead of stop being a nice guy:
    1. Stop Overdoing © Viacom 18 Motion Pictures
One of your biggest mistakes would be to over-extend and overdo things just to make the other person happy.

You don’t have to go over the top and try too hard to win her interest or validation because that would only increase her expectations, putting more pressure on you going forward.
Not to forget, the chances of you coming across as 'desperate' also go up by that much.
    2. Stop Agreeing With Everything She Says © Hari Om Entertainment
I get it, you’re a good-hearted person who seldom likes to enter a conflict, especially when it comes at the cost of upsetting the other one.

But agreeing with everything the other has to say might turn you into a pushover, and I can tell from experience, that road never ends well.
    3. Stop Paying For Everything © Viacom 18 Motion Pictures
Being chivalrous is always received well, but what isn’t, is being an ATM to your potential partner and letting them know that they can exploit you left, right and centre.

Stop giving the other person an opportunity to take advantage of you and hold back on that urge to offer your card EVERY SINGLE TIME. It’s okay to help out, even feel generous a few times, but it’s never a good idea to establish that they can take you for a ride.

The most important thing to keep in mind here is that your feelings matter just as much as theirs.

Just because you’re nice  enough to be considerate of their feelings does not mean you always have to step on your toes and hold back on saying/confessing your feelings.
Maybe if you actually say what you want and make a move for it, without always worrying about how they would feel, you’d actually have a shot at things.

When you are called The Weeknd, you don’t have to wait for an actual weekend to do something fun and risqué.

The stupendously famous ‘star boy’ of the R&B world sold his mansion to pop star Madonna, only to drop some crazy money on a huge and grand house in the heart of LA.
The 'Save Your Tears' singer dropped a whopping $70 million on this abode. A quick Google search would roughly convert it into 5,19,77,62,500.00 INR ( yeah, don’t ask us to tell you how to even pronounce this goddamn figure!).

The Wall Street Journal has tagged it as one of the most expensive sales in California made this year and the pictures explain how and why that is probably true.

Here, have a look at how a drone shot of the house looks like:

A quick dip in the pool on a sunny day? Check. It is cold outside but you want a swimming pool inside as well? Okay, this house has BOTH.

Snuggled amidst a fairly green area, the house is a sight for sore eyes.

Besides the generic offerings found in a celebrity home, this house spread over 1.6 acres of land has a tennis court, a movie theatre, a sauna and also a music studio.

The way India responded to England after being bullied in the second Test at Lord’s made headlines all around the world. Many experts, including former England captain Nasser Hussain, believed that this Indian team led by Virat Kohli would not be bullied like the previous generations.
Indian batting great Sunil Gavaskar, who dominated world cricket in the late 70s and 80s, wasn’t pleased with Hussain’s remarks and when the two came face to face, albeit virtually, during the pre-match show, things got so ugly between them that Harsha Bhogle had to intervene to calm things down.

Referring to Hussain’s Dailymail article, Gavaskar demanded an explanation from the former England captain for his opinion piece and things began to heat up.

“You said this India will not be bullied as perhaps the previous generations would be. Belonging to [the] previous generation, could you perhaps enlighten which generation? And what is the exact meaning of bully?” Gavaskar asked Hussain before the toss on Sony Sports Network.
Instead of comparing the two eras, Hussain politely answered that all he meant was that no side in the world would want to take on Kohli’s team because they might end up regretting it, just like England did at Lord’s.

“I just think, the Indian side under the aggression of the past, would have said ‘no no no’. But what Kohli has done is to make them go doubly hard. I saw a little bit of that in Sourav Ganguly’s side and he started that, [and now] Virat is continuing with it. Even when Virat was not there, Ajinkya really went hard at the Australians. I just don’t think you want to wake this Indian side up,” Hussain gave a polite reply.

Gavaskar, however, wasn’t ready to buy his reply and dragged things further and reminded him of the results players of his generation were able to achieve in England.

“But when you say previous generations were bullied, I don’t think so. I’d be very upset if my generation was being talked about as being bullied. If you have a look at the record, in 1971 we won, that was my first tour in England. 1974, we had internal problems so we lost 3-0. 1979, we lost 1-0, it could have been 1-1 if we chased down 438 at the Oval. 1982 we again lost 1-0. In 1986 we won 2-0, we could have won it 3-0. So, I don’t think my generation were bullied. I don’t think aggression means you have always got to be at the face of the opposition. You can show passion, you can show your commitment towards your team without yelling after each fall of wicket,” Gavaskar said.

Watching things escalate between the two legends of the game, presenter Harsha Bhogle intervened and calmed things down. Fans, who had tuned in to get expert’s opinion about what strategies both teams could deploy in the third Test among other things, were left fuming as they saw two former cricketers clash.

In fact, most of the fans loved how Hussain reacted to the whole situation and expressed himself in a very polite manner. Gavaskar, on the other hand, was slammed for starting an unnecessary fight over it and dragging it for far too long. The way he gave excuses for the series that he lost in England was nothing but comical and added to people’s fury.

I think Nasser is entitled to his opinion. And he was being grilled on an opinion piece. SMG also entitled to his but saying 'we could've won in '79, we had internal problems in '74 etc' was silly. It could have been light-hearted & respectful, instead it got serious & awkward. https://t.co/CxBK5j4R5t
    — Raunak Kapoor (@RaunakRK) August 25, 2021That was so unnecessary from Gavaskar, glad that Nasser Hussain reacted the way he did. https://t.co/9xjgnB92Tr
    — Omkar Mankame (@Oam_16) August 25, 2021Seriously Sunil Gavaskar is a grumpy old man. Fighting against Nasser Hussain at the start of the pre-match show on his recent article and it is quite unnecessary. You could have had a discussion in between the match but this debate was unnecessary @SonySportsIndia #Cricket
    — Aryan Jain (@aryan_jain17) August 25, 2021Hard to understand why Gavaskar is getting so hyper nowadays. Needs to calm down
    — subhasis (@subhasis19) August 25, 2021Cringe man, why does he have to attach personal stigma to every time someone says this is the best indian team, did so when ravi shastri said the same after bgt 2018 win
    — (@chillyycorndog) August 25, 2021Sunny is a legend but this was unnecessary pettiness on his part . Kudos to @nassercricket for respectfully swaying away from the line and not escalating the uncomfortable situation in the studio.
    — Chris Elisha (@chriselisha) August 25, 2021 Everyone is entitled to their opinion and targeting someone for an opinion piece that he wrote a few days back was clearly uncalled for. Instead of going at him on Live TV, there were much better ways he could have handled the situation in.

Most folks who aren’t big on fashion get their style inspiration from either their friends, a stranger on the street (you see a cool shirt, you like it, you buy it) or movie stars.
It’s either that or picking up anything that fits from the mall. It’s kind of awesome how men in movies subconsciously start style trends that their fans pick up and copy. Yes, even the most low-maintenance ones.
    © Excel Entertainment
However, there are only a few movies that focus on men’s fashion. Only a few actors have had eye-grabbing wardrobes in movies that have been so good that they inspired Indian fashion and changed the way men dressed.

    © Dharma Productions
Here are five such Bollywood movies that didn’t just start a trend or two, but had men’s clothing so on-point that they served as the ultimate inspiration for young guys at the time:

    1. Dil Chahta Hai © Excel Entertainment
This movie gave us lessons on love, friendship and even fashion more than any other movie. Be it Aamir Khan’s goatee or summer shirts, DCH redefined fashion for men in the early 2000s.

Apart from this, the film undid the 90s cringe style and introduced cool summer outfits and travel wardrobe that consisted of fisherman hats, printed shirts, tinted glasses and more.

Also, you can question these shiny leather pants and big belt buckles now, but you all bought a pair after watching this movie. Admit it.

    2. Dil Dhadakne Do © Excel Entertainment
The film was all about a cruise holiday that a rich family took and we got plenty of vacation outfit goals from the wardrobe of the stars.

The breezy fits, cool prints and colours were perfectly in line with the nautical theme of the movie.

We saw a lot of deep blues, whites and muted tones that were in our travel shopping list after that

    3. Kal Ho Na Ho © Dharma Productions
From Shah Rukh Khan’s red cargo pants in the song ‘Pretty Woman’ to the dapper suits Saif pulled off in his MBA classes, the whole fashion scene in Kal Ho Na Ho was dope.

Although pretty casual and wearable, outfits like V-neck sweaters, hoodie sweatshirts with sleeves rolled up and relaxed denims became the official uniform for all young men.

And, how can we forget these gorgeous sherwanis that became huge in traditional wear for men?

    4. Dostana © Dharma Productions
Dostana is known for breaking a lot of fashion stereotypes for men. While it debuted chic beachwear (a category dominated by women), it also paved the way for more experimental looks.

Abhishek Bachchan’s ombre shirts, scarfs, and floral print and neon outfits were a breath of fresh air in the menswear style that only had blacks, greys and blues till now.

John Abraham’s V-neck muscle tees, vests and super short shorts also became a huge trend.
    5. Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani © Dharma Productions
Ranbir Kapoor’s wardrobe in YJHD brought back flannel shirts which he mostly layered with either a leather jacket or a half puffer jacket.

His style suited his carefree personality and was a perfect blend of trend and comfort which most millennial men incline towards.

Plus, his look in the song ‘Badtameez Dil’ where he wore a fitted black suit and a skinny tie became just as popular as the hook step.

Manoj Bajpayee and Samantha Akkineni’s The Family Man 2 has now featured on the Most Popular TV Shows in the world on the enviable fourth position. Before the release, however, the show started to trend because people accused the makers of misrepresenting the Eelam Tamil community in Sri Lanka and the LTTE organization.
Tamil Nadu’s IT Minister T Mano Thangaraj had written a letter ahead of The Family Man 2’s release that said that the series ‘not only hurt the sentiments of Eelam Tamils but also the feelings of the people of Tamil Nadu.’

Now, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Samantha Akkineni has apologized for hurting people’s sentiments. She said, “I allow people to have their own opinions. If they decided to stay with that opinion, I am very sorry for hurting anyone’s sentiments. I sincerely apologize as it was not something I intended on doing at all. I did not mean to hurt anyone. So, if I did, I am extremely sorry. I am glad that, though, once the show did release, a lot of the noise stopped. I guess some saw it wasn’t so bad after all. For the people who didn’t and still continue to hold resentment, I sincerely apologize.”

Samantha played the character of Raji in the show and the viewers were left in awe of her strong performance.

Ahead of the show’s release, makers Raj and DK had said in a statement, “We are very cognizant of the sentiments of the Tamil people and Tamil culture and have nothing but the utmost love and respect towards our Tamil people. We have put in years of hard work into this show, and we have taken great pains to bring to our audiences a sensitive, balanced, and riveting story – much like we did in Season 1 of the show. We request everyone to wait and watch the show when it releases. We know you’ll appreciate it once you watch it.”.
What do you have to say about Samantha’s apology? Let us know in the comments section below.

The thing about social conditioning is, it is deep-rooted and is hard to shake off like an obsessive lover who just can't get the meaning of a ‘no’.
It moulds you and your action at such a subconscious level, that most of the time you don’t even realise having been influenced by societal norms and stereotypes.
One of the most common one being men expected to pay for food on a date.
You see, the time when such an unspoken rule was set was probably one where men would be out and about earning a livelihood while women were still constrained to their houses. It became natural for the guy to offer to pay, considering he would be the one earning and asking her out.

    via GIPHY
But from then to now, a lot has changed. Women are now working and earning just as much as (in most cases, even more than) men and with progressive dating apps at our disposal, even making the first move at asking a guy out.

Which is why, if today a guy contemplates over buying a woman dinner or going dutch for it, we don’t blame him. Instead, we encourage him.
While the entire act of paying for a date when you’re a man is passed off as an act of chivalry, it won’t take away from your manhood or manners if you choose not to. However, having said that, it might still be a good idea to consider expressing the same in a manner that comes off as neither offensive, nor miserly.
Here are 3 ways to ask your date to go dutch with you:
    1. Bring It Up Before The Actual Date © iStock
The easiest way to go about it would be to bring it up early in the conversation before the two of you settle on going on a date.

It won’t just make things less awkward on the actual date, but would also help you both understand which school of thought you follow and where one comes from.
Last we checked, it’s never too bad to know more about your date!
    2. Offer To Pay Half Upfront © iStock
A rather direct approach but one that will set a precedent for the times to come.

When I say be upfront and offer to pay your half, be mindful to not sound condescending but polite. It may or may not take your date by surprise, but regardless of it, be sure to keep your half of the bill on the table promptly to send a message across.
    3. Alternate Paying © iStock
Another way could be to take care of the entire bill the first time, while also establishing how your date could take you out the next time around.

This way, there won’t be a tussle of two people paying at the same time and your intentions would come across as much less offensive.
    Also, second date guaranteed!
