Britney Spears says ?It?s really weird whenever I try to slim down"

When people commit themselves to a relationship, for a moment, the world offers an opportunity to feel rosier than it ever did. Sweeter perhaps. A familiar feeling for some men.
Sometimes, though, the cracks start appearing almost immediately. Disrespectful language, boundaries being crossed, gaslighting, and whatnot.
All these things end up making that once dreamy possibility a cesspool of toxicity.
Despite a wildly different reality, some men are unable to leave that relationship. Regardless of how toxic and unhealthy it might become.
We reached out to some men who shared with us their reasons for staying on in a relationship that’s long past its expiry date:
1. “We barely talk much anymore. So in a way, it’s nice, you know? I’ve my space and she gets hers, so it all works out in the end. Anyway, we had begun fighting a lot. So, it’s comfortable like this.” - Debjoy, 25

2. “Bro, I don’t know what to say. Sometimes, I know how messed up it is, but I’m just so scared of being alone. It’s either this or going back to the dating pool, and you know what a mess it’s become. This is definitely better than that.” - Ayush, 30

3. “I’m scared because my girlfriend threatened to leak my nudes.” - Minal, 28

4. “It started when she was angry at something I did. I think I may have dropped a plate on the floor or something galti se... I was going to clean it only when she slapped me. I was stunned. Now, whenever she’s in a rotten mood she’s started kicking or punching me. For crying out loud I’m human too. Even though it gets crazy I can’t leave her, what are people gonna say? Divorce?... No way.” - Piyush, 29

5. “I get hungry often, man. Especially lately. I used to be fitter when Rohit and I met. I may not be the fittest I once was but I’m not a mess either, even by my standards. So, it hurts when he keeps pointing it out to me. Once in a while chalta hai, but after a point, I also start feeling bad, no?” - Eric, 36

6. “You don’t know where she comes from bro. Life wasn’t fair to her, she’s figuring her life out abhi. Yeah, it does make me uncomfortable and then I stop talking to her for a while, for a month or so, when she sleeps with other people. But it’s worth it in the long run I feel. She’s lovely otherwise bro. Long distance badiya chal raha hai.” - Rohan , 24

7. “Who’s to say kya chalta hai? I also messed up so many times. I hooked up with someone, but I didn’t know she was serious about me back then. Baad me pata chala mujhe ki we were supposed to be exclusive, that we were allegedly together back then. So, now, I feel that I’ve to fix this relationship before I can do anything else.” - Madhav, 25

8. “My girlfriend lights up my world. She’s the person who dragged me out of the pits of depression, but lately, she’s been keeping tabs on everything that I do. I'm okay with that to a certain extent, but sometimes, it gets too much, you know? She’s become strangely suspicious of things that make me happy. Gaming with the boys, talking to my work friends, she gets irritated by everything. I don’t know what’s happened to her but she’s started making me feel bad for being happy. It’s as if she’s pissed off whenever I smile because of someone else. I tried talking to her but she accused me of being a diva about it? It’s been a few months of this. It really irritates me, but I can’t leave her since she was there for me when no one else was and I owe it to her.” - Rajat, 32

As India celebrates its 75th Independence Day, the entire country finds itself floating in feelings of patriotism and pride.
There is a certain sense of pride towards martyrdom in the air as people think back to all those times when our brave soldiers sacrificed their lives to keep our tri-coloured flag always flying high. And one such martyr who etched his name in history and in our hearts was Captain Vikram Batra.
The man who fought valiantly during the Kargil war in 1999 and led one of the most dangerous and crucial operations in mountain warfare, Captain Vikram Batra and his achievements are to date remembered and lauded with great fondness. Especially by his parents who aren’t just proud of their son, but also miss him dearly.
© Kiara Advani
First played by actor Abhishek Bachchan in the movie LOC Kargil, the role has been played again by Siddharth Malhotra in the film Shershaah, which is supposed to be a biopic on the life of the decorated Indian Army officer.
In the movie, the scene where Captain Vikram Batra’s courageous rendezvous with the enemy at the border was shown has left everyone emotional, but most of all his parents.
In fact, in a recent interview where GL Batra, Captain Vikram Batra’s father, was asked about what he felt having seen the film Shershaah, he shared the emotions that their family felt throughout the movie.
Paid my respects to Captain Vikram Batra & all other Fauji heroes in Delhi
Truly had an emotional moment there! Standing in front of his statue, remembering his sacrifice & of 527 other war martyrs...
Happy Independence Day pic.twitter.com/2Olj4YLyMR
— Sidharth Malhotra (@SidMalhotra) August 15, 2021
Recalling the scene where Captain Batra gets shot, GL Batra shared, “A Pakistani soldier in hiding targets him and some three to four bullets hit him in the chest. He then falls down and bleeds from the mouth when he chants his unit's war cry 'Hail Mother Durga' (Durga mata ki jai). He then falls down and becomes a martyr. It was a very emotional moment for us."
Captain Batra’s mother Kamal Kanta Batra also spoke about the influx of emotions that she felt during the scene and said, “I got very emotional when he was suddenly hit by a bullet in the film."

Meanwhile, Vishal Batra, Captain Batra’s twin brother also talked about the kind of impact that scene had on him, for it was followed by a moment of silence to deal with the emotional havoc he had kept in all this while.
The movie has said to beautifully and boldly capture the essence of patriotism and sheer valour that Captain Batra exuded at the border.
In fact, during an interview with actor Siddharth Malhotra who feels honoured to play his part, went ahead to share that if he had not been an actor, he would have chosen to be in the Indian Army just like his grandfather who served the nation and fought in the India-China war in 1962.

Hell hath no fury like an Indian cricket fan scorned!
It’s no secret that Indian cricket fans are some of the most fiercely passionate and ardent supporters in the world, who never hold back from protecting and praising the team.
© Reuters
While they always show their unparalleled support for the Men in Blue, they are also capable of calling out the very team members over things like poor form or any misconduct.
However, a recent development at Lord’s has left every Indian cricket lover with a bitter taste in their mouths.
Indian opener KL Rahul was seen getting hit by bottle corks from a particular section of unruly English fans during the first session of Day 3 of the second Test match against England.
Terrible From The EnGlish Crowd, Throwing Beer Corks At InDian PlaYers !!
EnGlish Fans Are So Pathetic

— M S C (@_friendlycheema) August 14, 2021
This happened during the 69th over of England’s innings when Rahul was fielding at the third man boundary.
Several corks were seen at the boundary line where he was fielding and clearly, Rahul was not happy with it. He also picked up a cork to chuck it out of the boundary line.
This is really very bad thing done by England fans.

— MAHI MATTERS (@MahiMatters) August 14, 2021
While the commentators also pointed out the same, Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who was at the first slip, could be seen visibly displeased by the development and he straight-up asked Rahul to fling the corks back into the crowd.

Well, pretty sure that was every Indian fan’s first reaction as well!
According to reports, Team India players have made a complaint to the umpires regarding the crowd’s behavior.
Naturally, Indian fans took to Twitter to call out the behavior of the English crowd at Lord’s:
Dig a hole of 500mts to find the maturity levels of English fans. Good, bad & the English fans. #ENGvIND #IndvsEng #KLRahul

— Rahul Kushwaha (@meRahulKushwaha) August 14, 2021This is so disgusting nd disrespectful ! English crowd were throwing champagne corks at kl rahul .. But wait he'll answer with his bat. #ENGvsIND pic.twitter.com/kwi6hwd1Aq
— S (@samy5670) August 14, 2021This is not the first time such disruptive action has been from the English crowd during the ongoing series, as on Day 2 of the first Test, a few English supporters allegedly shouted racial comments towards Indian spectators and insulted players, including Mohammed Shami and Virat Kohli, according to a 31-year-old British-Indian woman who had gone to Nottingham to watch the series opener.
The woman, who took to Reddit to share her personal experience, alleged that a few English fans were continuously hurling insults at Indian players fielding near the boundary line, and when her family asked them to stop doing it, they said, "Go back to India". The woman said she reported the incident to a steward, who removed the fan, who had asked them to "Go back to India".
KL Rahul has been having an incredible time with the bat in the series, so far, and also scored a smashing century in the first innings of the ongoing Test at Lord’s.
India managed to post a sizeable 364 in the first innings thanks to a brilliant 129-run knock by KL Rahul, however, later on, England skipper Joe Root struck an unbeaten 180 to help England post 391 and take a 27-run lead.

Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety is the perfect example of how an average ‘bro movie’ with a mediocre script and minimal budget can break all box-office records.
The film could have been a franchise of Pyaar Ka Punchnama but the producers came up with a perfect blend of tongue-twisting name and laughter that kept the audience on the edge of their seats.
The movie showcases the story of two best friends- Sonu and Titu. In the movie, Titu is an innocent and easily manipulated guy, who is just looking for love. On the other hand, Sonu is the smart one who manipulates his best friend in name of saving him from his manipulative girlfriend.
So, here are 4 red flags that we noticed in Sweety from Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety but still fell for her -
Controlling GirlfriendRemember that dialogue where Sonu says, “Tere khaane se leke kapdo se leke toothpaste tak saala woh chunti hai hamara. Achha khaasa colgate chal raha tha bachpan se. Herbal ke chakkar mein din bhar mitti ki feeling aati hai munh mein.”
Exactly, that’s how controlling she is. Sweety makes him do what she wants and Titu does everything that she tells him to do.
Always NaggingShe is low-key always nagging, and Titu is way too innocent to understand that.
PretentiousShe acts extremely sweet in front of everyone but she is not what she portrays to be.
Always Get Things Done For HerselfShe has a way of getting things done from people. In one scene she is seen telling her mother-in-law that she wants to do a mata ka jagrata and that too she manages to convince them to host at Titu’s house and not at her home.
Did you notice these red flags in Sweety when you watched the film? Let us know in the comments section below!

If there is one celebrity in the Bollywood industry who knows how to stay relevant day in and day out, it has to be the Tanu Weds Manu star Kangana Ranaut.
By now, it has been made clear that no matter how many social media platforms the actress is banned on, she would still find her name trending.
Especially after the kind of social media uproar her recent bralette picture created and topping it all is another picture of the actress in a monokini that seems to be irking some people just as much.
View this post on Instagram
The actress who wrapped up her shoot for the film Dhaakad was spending some quality time with her sister and her son at a water park.
She posted a bunch of pictures of herself sporting an Ivy Park monokini with her nephew and that is all it took for some people to come at the actress yet again for going against the ‘Indian culture’ in Kangana’s own words.
She posted on Instagram with a caption that read, “A day with my kiddie….. in a water park ha ha I am not a water person at all and he loves water but I enjoyed it may be because he was so thrilled to be there …… I guess that’s what love is about.”
© Instagram_Kangana Ranaut
Her sister Rangoli Chandel also posted pictures of the actress on her Instagram captioning it, “Promoting #Thalaivi”.
Meanwhile, some folks have found another reason to come at the Manikarnika actress for continuing to show double standards by wearing ‘revealing’ clothes all the while talking about ‘sanskriti’ and the culture of India.
One user commented, “The saint, who character assassinated Rihanna, is now wearing a swimming costume, legs out, has affairs with married men. Look at yourself before defaming others,” while another one wrote while coming to Kangana’s defence, “Please Librandus leave the Child and her aunt alone for god sake have some shame before commenting nonsense and body shaming a woman.”
Here are some of the reactions from public:

People stand divided on Kangana’s recent post just as they did on her sheer lace bralette picture. At the same time, it is being wondered whether Kangana posted this picture in a monokini as a reply to all those hating on her.
Instagram
Especially since the actress also posted a cryptic story on her Instagram writing, “Meanwhile people looked at mother just how we look at white women in North India when they wear bikinis.”
Could this be Kangana’s way of calling out trolls for judging her choice of clothes? We are yet to find out!

We love watching Bollywood movies for their emphasis on happy endings.
Be it Salman, Hrithik, Shah Rukh, or Akshay, the hero will always beat all the odds to crush the villain and end up with the woman of his dreams. Happily Ever After types!
© YRF
But while Bollywood does a lot of good things, it also does a few things that we don't like.
Not all 'nice guys' in Bollywood get the girl! And even if some do, they are often subjected to being taken advantage of, made fun of, not taken seriously, and so on.
But still, for the nice guys that they are, Bollywood forces them to still pursue the girl because I guess that's what nice guys do.
© YRF
Well, keeping that in mind, I've made up a list of times these Bollywood nice guys should have straight up said 'no' to the girl for taking advantage of them:
1. Rohit In 'Kal Ho Na Ho' (2003) © Dharma Productions
Handsome? Yes. Intelligent? Yes. Charming? Yes. Kind and Loving. Yes, Yes. Then what is the problem? You're still not Shah Rukh.
Yep. That was the problem Saif Ali Khan's character Rohit faced when he was head over heels in love with Preity Zinta's Naina.
He tried everything in the book to express his love for her, but Preity had her eyes on the charming and extremely witty Aman (Shah Rukh Khan).
Throughout the movie, Naina could be seen body-shaming people and making fun of Rohit but he still carried on being the nice guy, only to later be rejected on his face.
However, it was later when Aman kind of rejected Naina's advances that she finally thought that dating Rohit wouldn't be that bad an idea.
Well, Rohit, even though you ended up marrying and having kids with Naina, we think you deserved better and should have said no to her.
2. Aman In 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' (1998) © Dharma Productions
Bhai! If Salman Khan's character also is taken advantage of in a movie, then shit has really gotten serious. This time too, it was Shah Rukh that was the main reason.
Meet Aman (Salman) from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. King, caring, loving, and extremely supportive of his fiance Anjali (Kajol), who he is planning to marry soon.
But then Shimla ka Summer Camp happens, where Anjali ends up meeting Rahul (Shah Rukh), the ex-best friend/college playboy who literally friend-zoned her and married someone else.
To cut things short, Anjali falls in love with Rahul again after getting to know that his first wife Tina (Rani Mukherjee) passed away.
Shame for Aman though!
In the end, it's Aman who literally gets emotionally blackmailed into getting off his wedding mandap to hitch Rahul and Anjali back together.
Well, Aman, we are glad you didn't get into this mess, but king, you should have said no to her from the get-go.
3. Karan In 'Lakshya' (2004) © Netflix
We all remember the wonderful coming-of-age film Lakshya, which now literally has a cult fan following.
Hrithik's portrayal of Indian Army officer Karan Shergill definitely struck a chord with all of us, even encouraging so many to actually join the Indian Army in real life.
However, we remember that before his struggle to become an Army officer in the film, he was in love with Romila (Preity Zinta), who legit dumped him because he was confused about his career.
Now, at a time, when we give tremendous importance to taking up an easy choice because of the whole mental health issue, imagine someone breaking up with the other person because he or she was having trouble finding a way.
Hah! not so nice Romi! Well, like Bollywood is, they showed Hrithik and Preity bizarrely ending up together.
Karan, bro! You became an Army officer all on your own. You helped your country in Kargil. I think you certainly deserved someone better and should have said no to her.
4. Rohit In 'Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai' (2002) © Prime Video
What is it with Jimmy Shergill never getting the girl he wants in movies, huh?
In Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, Jimmy's character Rohit was madly in love with Anjali (Tulip Joshi) and despite being kind, caring, and all things nice, he still loses out to Uday Chopra's character Sanju.
Why? Well, because Anjali still loves Sanju. Wow! That was convenient.
I mean, Rohit was all set to get married to her and almost got dumped right at the end of the movie.
In the film, Rohit does the right thing by making sure that he doesn't marry Anjali who doesn't love him back. But really? What he should have done was dump her and let her go back to Sanjay on her own.
It's high time Jimmy is given characters where he actually gets the girl because he's the Nicest Guy Around.
5. Jeetu In Hungama (2003) © Disney Plus Hotstar
Remember the love-triangle comedy between Akshaye Khanna, Aftab Shivdasani, and Rimi Sen in the 2003 comedy film Hungama that also featured Paresh Rawal?
Everything about the film from top to bottom was absolutely hilarious, except what happened with Akshaye Khanna's character Jeetu.
Jeetu, who was already in a load of trouble himself in the film, did everything to help Rimi's character Anjali (God! the third Anjali, so far) because he obviously liked her so much.
He even believed all her lies and even forgave her for all of it in the end just because of his love for her.
However, despite doing possibly everything in the movie to win her love, Rimi decided to choose Nandu (Aftab).
And in some fashion. When asked by Jeetu to choose between him and Nandu, Anjali literally made chits with both guys' names and said she'd sort of do a lucky draw.
The name came out be Nandu at the end after which Jeetu realized that literally, all the chits had Nandu written inside them. Ouch! I mean! There were certainly better ways about it.
Jeetu! You should have seen the red flags, my man! You should have said no to her before she destroyed you like this.
Fin.

From the Delhi streets to becoming a lead actor and living the life of a star now, Sidharth Malhotra hasn’t had it easy. It’s a popular perception that he was launched by Karan Johar, so he had it all easy. He started out being a model and served as an Assistant Director in Dostana and My Name Is Khan before he finally could make a mark. He has seen days wherein he didn’t have work and his spirits were low.
View this post on Instagram
Those who have stayed in Mumbai can totally relate to his story. He has shifted houses and did modeling for his pocket money. He might be living in Bandra now but it wasn’t the case when he came to Mumbai. He has been criticized several times for his acting and he has done it all alone.
From Delhi to Mumbai, his journey has been full of ups and downs. He himself has said how he had felt isolated in the city of Mumbai. In an exclusive conversation, I asked him if it feels empowering that he has done it all alone in the industry wherein nepotism plays a major role.
On this, he told me, “It definitely gives you a sense of confidence in this regard. When someone who has come from nothing has a fear of what people will think of him. In the alien city, you might not have funds to survive or possibly not have enough work, you have pretty much seen a lot in your life and the industry. You kind of care less as opposed to people who have uncles and aunts here. I don’t come from a film background and I had to do everything from scratch. I am possibly more aware of how my life is shaping up and it gives me a sense of confidence and a lack of fear as to what people will think about me.”
View this post on Instagram
He continued, “I am not here to make uncle, aunts, and rishtedaars. I have my own. It also helps in performance as I have lived such a regular life in my first 25 years that makes my characters look more real as opposed to people who have been bought up in that environment. There are massive advantages to it but yes, there is a lot of struggle that is involved. There’s a different ball game altogether behind the camera and every scene and those people who do come from a filmy background really struggle to adapt and learn. There are so many emotions and egos you have to deal with. It’s a tedious job dealing with all the politics.”
He has played so many characters and seen a lot of rejections. From being an amateur to finally playing Vikram Batra in Shershaah, he has evolved as an actor over these years. I also asked him about how his parents see his entire journey.
View this post on Instagram
Responding to it, he said, “They are pretty unaware of the journey I have had. I have protected my parents from the things that I have faced or dealt with during my initial years. They see it from an outsider’s perspective. They are aware of certain occurrences but not in too much detail. They also feel a sense of change or maturity in my performances. After watching the trailer, my dad sees the more masculine side as he loved the portion wherein I am all bearded and charging up my troupes. Over the years, I have protected them from seeing my struggles as I want them to enjoy the fruits of my labour and see my success.”
Well, we wish that you keep evolving as an actor with every project that you do.

Mohammed Siraj has sure come a long way in his career as a pacer. From being the butt of jokes to becoming Virat Kohli’s main man in Royal Challengers Bangalore to making a name for himself in the Indian squad, the pacer has ensured everyone knows his name.
Siraj, who is currently with the Indian team playing in the ongoing Test series against the hosts, England, has been steadily taking wickets, but what caught our attention was his new style of celebration after sending a batsman back to the pavilion.
© Reuters
In his first appearance at Lord’s, where the second Test is underway, Siraj picked up 4 for 94 in the first innings, and people could not help but notice his style of putting his finger on his lips after dismissing batsmen.
© Reuters
When asked as to why he was doing so, Siraj’s reason was nothing short of impressive:
"This story (celebration) is for the haters (critics) because they used to say a lot of things about me, like he cannot do this and cannot do that. So, I will only let my ball do the talking and hence this is my new style of celebration," Siraj said after the third day's play of the second Test at the virtual post-day press conference.
The pacer further spoke about the importance of having four fast bowlers on the team:
“It was important (to play with fourth fast bowler), because we have taken three wickets at the start and our fast bowlers were effective and bowling consistently in one area. The role of fast bowlers is important in England because when you come to England, you want to try things, but our plan here was to be consistent and bowl at one place”.

Meanwhile, India managed to post a sizeable 364 in the first innings thanks to a brilliant 129-run knock by KL Rahul, however, later on, England skipper Joe Root struck an unbeaten 180 to help England post 391 and take a 27-run lead.
Earlier this year, Siraj became a national name after the 27-year-old decided to stay back with the team in Australia and play for his country despite hearing the tragic news of his father’s death.
“When I lost my father during the Australia tour, both Ravi sir and bowling coach Bharat Arun sir were so supportive. Ravi sir came to me and said ‘Tu test match khel, dekh tereko 5 wickets milega. Tere Daddy ka dua tera saath hoga (You play the test match. You will get 5 wickets as your father’s blessings will be with you). Match ke baad Ravi sir ne bahut khus hokar bola, tujhe bola tha na 5 wickets milega (I told that you will be getting five wickets). I became very confident after my coaches encouraged me in such a way,” Siraj told ABP news.

“India is a conservative society, it has not yet reached such level (advance or lower) of civilization where unmarried girls, regardless of their religion, indulge in carnal activities with boys just for the fun of it, unless the same is backed by some future promise/assurance of marriage," the Madhya Pradesh High Court recently observed.
And honestly, being a woman, a *** and relationships writer and well, someone with common sense, nothing about the statement sat right with me and several others on social media.
Unmarried girls in India don’t do carnal activities for fun: Madhya Pradesh high court https://t.co/lOL0UZISrq pic.twitter.com/hIH3PBZ4OT
— The Times Of India (@timesofindia) August 15, 2021 This was observed by Justice Subodh Abhyanakar of the Indore bench of the High Court during the bail hearing of a man who was accused of alleged rape after a girl he refused to marry tried to commit suicide by drinking phenyl.
The court observed, “to prove her point, it is not necessary every time for a victim to try to commit suicide as in the present case,” as it pointed out the seriousness of the relationship for the woman, who would not have entered it casually.
The bail was obviously denied and as was any sort of ‘benefit of doubt’ to men in the country once and for all.
© iStock
The accused is facing charges Section 376 (Rape) and Section 366 (Kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage) of the Indian Penal Code and various provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Mahakal police station of Ujjain district.
The bench further said, “...a boy who is entering into a physical relationship with a lass must realize that his actions have consequences. You just cannot plead consent on the part of the prosecutrix and laugh all the way to your home,” ruled the High court.
The accused, on the other hand, had claimed that he was having an affair with the girl for almost two years, and she entered into the physical relationship of her own will as she is around 21-years-old. However, both their parents were against the union because the applicant was Hindu and the girl was Muslim.
Since when did the @mphighcourt become qualified to be the voice of the carnal preferences of India's unmarried girls? Take legal positions, not moral ones. Your unqualified generalisations betray your implicit biases against the agency of #indianwomen.https://t.co/1DwSAWsgUa

It was after the accused told her in June this year that he was going to marry someone else, that the girl drank phenyl, claims the prosecution.
As of now, the bail plea has been denied by the court and while the case is still ongoing.
However, the case aside, the bench’s recent observations have created an uproar on social media. Here are some of the reactions:
So with a 'future promise' one can hold sway on a girl's chastity.
Good.
Wish the learned also say how is a future promise handled by the court
— Shankar Venugopal (@itzmylife) August 14, 2021In a country where husband can go away from marriage without even divorce and live the life & political life without even acknowledge the marriage. Is telling girls to get promise of marriage before relation :))
— PriyaNeerajam (@PriyaNeerajam) August 14, 2021Would it still be the same if roles were reversed? Any adult shd be self responsible for their acts when in a relationship and relationships do break. The man alone is not always at fault. As a society we need to be of more progressive thinking and not blinded age old beliefs
— _Memyself_ (@keepinitomyself) August 15, 2021Land of Kamasutra to a large extent is still a Sexually repressive society.
— WELL_FLR (@ftmtbatt) August 14, 2021SC MUST note judges are now regressing and resorting to prejudice and personal predilections when adjudicating in court.@indSupremeCourt
— Prakash (@a_Lib_) August 14, 2021Why cant courts then declare premarital *** as illegal. Less paperwork, less headache
— Mid finger to White Beard (@DrNo771) August 14, 2021Wonder if he thinks unmarried boys in India indulges in Carnal Activities for fun

— Gauri (@AntiReal123) August 14, 2021"India are a conservative society, it has not yet reached such level (advance or lower) of civilization.."
So how do we make it to that level? By behaving more conservative?
— ruchika (@bnruchika) August 14, 2021At this rate, it would be eons since India would turn from a regressive country to a progressive one.

If we were to unanimously pick a pastime for the people of this country, one that all of us have mindlessly indulged in at one time or another, it would be stereotyping.
Something we’re all brilliantly fluent in and guilty of, as it seems like typecasting people and genders into certain types and roles has become second nature to us. And for those who think this is just limited to women, they’re wrong.
© Excel Entertainment
Men too are often shunned into societal roles that they cannot help but feel the need to break out of. And as we mark the independence of our country today, one can say it would be the right time to help men gain independence from certain conventional standards that society has so blatantly imposed on them as well.
Here are a few of them:
1. “Such A Player” © Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment
As much as many of them would like for that assumption to be true for them, it isn’t.
In fact, many of the times, men are too looking for something serious and meaningful and not just keep indulging in flings that would pigeonhole them into a ‘player’.
2) “You’re The Breadwinner Of The Family” © Colour Yellow Productions
Ever since they are boys, men are told (on repeat) how they have to grow up and take care of the family. The pressure to sustain themselves and their loved ones and subsequently to become successful in life often gets to them.
Come to think of it, to put the onus of running a family only on the shoulders of men is not just unfair, it is dangerous to their mental health and should be done away with.
3) “Bring The Ideal D-I-L Home” © Dharma Productions
While marriage is a form of insane pressure in itself, men face something over and above it which is to bring not just a wife, but a perfect daughter-in-law home. And perfect here, obviously, means sanskaari, obedient, preferably 'non-feminist' and one with a hefty bank balance.
How about we alleviate men of such patriarchal pressure and for once, let them pick their own life partners? It’s their life and they probably need someone they can rely on, not a walking checklist.
4) “Be A Man” © Rajkumar Hirani Films
First things first, a man doesn’t have to do anything to prove his manhood. Anatomy takes care of that already.
Which is why, the overused and unnecessary phrases like ‘men don’t cry’, ‘men are tough’, need to retire. Period.
5) “Carry Forward The Lineage” © Dharma Productions
Men are often pressured by society and guilt-tripped into the entire - vansh badhao theory, which makes it very difficult for them to plan their family on their own terms.
Just because it is expected out of them to keep the family name alive, they are coerced into having children whether or not they like it.
Can we give it a rest and accept dogs as legitimate children?
6) “Always DTF” © Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment
Contrary to popular belief, men are not always looking to get some.
In fact, studies have shown women to have a much higher *** drive than men. Yes, they may be down for it every now and then but to think that’s all they think about is putting a whole different pressure on them. One that they can often not live up to!
7) “Your Beard Makes You A Man” © Ranveer Singh
No, it doesn’t. And neither should a man’s facial hair be set as the precedence to equate his manliness with. Men can be clean-shaven, with stubble or a full-grown beard, it still wouldn’t take away from them.
At the end of the day, what makes a man is his integrity and now how well his beard grows. Come on!

Everyone loves a good, long sleep. It really helps us unwind from all the stresses of the day. If you’re anything like me, then your bed is practically your body’s recharge station.
However, since the pandemic, these harmless naps and sleeping-in habits have become a tad more gratuitous. The initial few months of the pandemic saw me sleep 8-10 hours, however once the mundaneness of everything set in, it had spiked to an average of 10-12 hrs a day.
While it sounds gratifying (and it was), it was also a red flag for me. My body had become lethargic, my fitness gains had plummeted, and there was a constant sense of fatigue throughout.
If this sounds like you, then read on to find out the 5 scary side effects of sleeping too much:
1. Headaches © iStock
Serotonin is the hormone that regulates our sleep and waking patterns. However, oversleeping can disrupt the natural flow of serotonin as well as other neurotransmitters.
Your morning headaches can be attributed to this.
Additionally, grinding your teeth can cause headaches. When we’re asleep, we’re effectively going hungry and thirsty for long stretches, which can also cause headaches.
2. Back Pain © iStock
As comfortable and enriching hitting that snooze for the 5th time might feel, back pains can creep their way into your body if you’re a chronic oversleeper.
Resting on a bad quality mattress for long periods of time can cause your muscles to tire in the long run, coupled with a poor sleeping position, you’ll be clutching at your back for relief during your waking hours.
3. Depression © iStock
This is a tricky one. You could be oversleeping as a symptom of depressive tendencies and it’s also possible that your oversleeping habits may be contributing to it. Partly because your circadian rhythm is also responsible for how you feel throughout the day.
So, sleeping in often may further exacerbate depressive tendencies.
4. Fatigue © iStock
So, you’ve been sleeping in yet finding yourself increasingly throughout the day? Yeah, that’s the oversleeping fatigue catching up to you.
A wrecked circadian rhythm disrupts the bodily functions as well, because your muscles and nerves are over rested, you’re ending up with a body that’s incorrectly tuned to take on the day to day physical pressure that life demands.
5. Diabetes © iStock
Remember our dear, dear circadian rhythm? Yeah, it messes with your hormone regulation and one of those being insulin.
Since we’re fatigued and are low on energy during the day, we cope by munching on junk, which loads you with unnecessary calories, raising blood sugar levels.
Sleeping-in can end up borrowing good health from your tomorrow in the long run, it adds up. It’s essential to maintain a healthy sleep cycle as much as we can.
Nobody’s perfect. Even if we aren’t at our best currently, we must choose to be better for ourselves.

No one likes Monday mornings. However, since we are now working from home, even weekends feel the same.
Sure, there aren’t deadlines and client calls but you are practically at the same place and doing the same things (minus making excel sheets) which can be monotonous and frustrating.

It’s okay to feel all baffled and restless throughout the week since you are swamped with work but your weekends, especially the mornings of the days you are off work, should feel and look different so you can be more relaxed and productive the next week.

Here are 4 morning habits you can incorporate into your weekend routine to make your off-duty days:
1. Break Out Of The Rut © iStock
While you spend the rest of the mornings having a quick breakfast and opening your work laptop to start off with your daily targets, take the weekend mornings for some recreational activities that you love.
Go for a run, schedule a morning match of your favourite sport with your friends or simply have coffee sitting on your balcony with your family.
2. Plan Out The Day & The Week © iStock
If you make a mental note of all the fun things you’d do on the weekend but before you know it, Monday sets in (feeling of the weekend passing by) and you have done absolutely nothing, you are not alone.
Planning your day out in the morning itself would help you space out your time to run errands and tick things off your weekend to-do list.
To avoid hassle at work through the week, plan for the next 5 days too. Take some time out and make a to-do list for all the important tasks, meetings and projects.
3. Stay Away From The Screen © iStock
If it’s before 12 pm and you are already on your phone scrolling through social media, get away and indulge in better things.
All your days are spent on the screen anyway, so keep your screen time limited and less on weekends so you (and your eyes) are not tired even before lunchtime.
4. Indulge In Self-care © iStock
Keep an hour or so of your weekend mornings for some ‘me time’. Whether it is an hour of hitting the gym, yoga or treating your hair with a nice champi session (convince the nearest human to do you the favour) that relaxes you. It will make you look and feel good throughout the week.
